  • BROOKLYN - The oldest synagogue in the borough is celebrating a bittersweet milestone. Congregation Beth Jacob Ohev Sholom marked its 145th anniversary Sunday, while also honoring Rabbi Joshua Fishman, who is retiring after 43 years. Members say the longtime rabbi will be greatly missed. Vice President Stephen Weidberg says the synagogue is the last modern orthodox synagogue in Williamsburg.
