we ever thank you for coming and today we're going to discuss travel issues our annual travel discussion people are sitting down and getting ready for the summer plans and it's time to to plan out G okay we want to start our behavior at the beginning and the planning stages people often sit down this time of year and they they want to plan out their vacations and on a Shabbos afternoon right along Shabbos afternoon sitting in their air conditioning house and discussing with the family where they're going so what kind of issues could that could that bring up okay so that's an excellent question again planning is uh probably half the fun of travel is the is the planning of it deciding where to go where not to go how to go etcetera and that leads to a lot of issues of particular get this miles you spend this amount of money that's a whole if all that's but even I didn't mention any money you're just saying 20,000 miles to here it's all you get a cheaper ticket this one's only 10,000 miles international tickets all of that is prohibited and that in planning trips again half of the discussion it's very often what's the cost how much the hotel's gonna cost gonna cost how much flights are gonna cost that's one aspect but you could talk about where you want to go because correct you can if I want to go to the Florida I can say I want to go to Florida because the office because you couldn't actually walk there so technical way of walking correct so then did you tell us the second category or subcategory within dabra dabra you're not allowed to say I'm going to do a LA tomorrow unless unless it's a Bar Mitzvah its unless you're going to to you know go for a bit of people either going to someone who's ill um and wanna make arrangements but to say I am driving tomorrow I ain't driving to New York tomorrow would you like to come with me I am but we the lawn tomorrow I am sewing I am baking I am shopping okay there are none of those are business of Atomics business but as far as I'm mowing the lawn tomorrow some business I'm just going I'm planting I'm planning to go flowers tomorrow that is AB allaha even it's an alternative to rice up you're not allowed to plan ahead or even met make mention of I will be doing that a lot of tomorrow any people now do you want to say something permissible on Shabbos so for example you can say I'm gonna visit you tomorrow cuz I could have visited you today can I here's here's the salt so with that said to say I'm driving to New York I'm flying to New York I'm flying to California let's fly how we gonna get there we'll drive lievable track light light well leave Sunday morning will dry the first day disables then second day we goes right to Denver but the long days that's uh it's fifty miles a day I'll Drive you'll drive by three drivers all of that is prohibited to plan and speak about on Shabbos you are less we go get relevant real now right now but here's the loop here's the catch which is a cool something that is potentially permissible on Shabbos you lot to say so for example this here in a city without an a roof you're allowed to say I'm going to bring you you know you want to borrow this I have I have something I want to bring over tomorrow and the pictures I want to show you tomorrow so today you can't do it because there's no everything but since had there been an era of the action bringing it to your house is potentially permissible there for you lot to say that and so to my travel this am going to LA tomorrow is permissible now Los Angeles is out of the total Baltimore by the tune of about 2500 miles but potentially they could build up all way back to working on it right there's a lot of little build up all the way there so it's theoretically okay correct okay so this is a career conscious organization so you we can't leave off the cash cruise issues when you're going out to nowheres land you gonna want to check out it's also my subconscious actually once sent to I was working on an article and I sent an email to the South Pole okay but murder I think it's called a Myrtle station never been there I did send an email and I asked them if they have kosher food there anything with kosher symbols and the fellow wrote back yeah so even in the South Pole you can get kosher kosher meat but once that bear Alaska the same you know it's the northern tip of Alaska working on the same article and the person wrote me back Shalom Aleichem turns out he was not Jewish but he had had Jewish people he dealt with her knew that that line so I was very very okay there's this question of people who know about culture anywhere you're gonna go okay so what's the first step to when you're going to a town you don't know you know you're not sure of what's there call the star care I guess that's part of it again obviously part of it depends on um are you going to a big city or a little city let's talk about a little city first in a way that's a bit easier not for kosher but in the plan in what you're dealing with in a small town you're not gonna have you know kosher certifying agency there's not gonna be any country restaurants so you'll have two options you bring your own food or a lot of times supermarkets you'll hunt down items that are packaged items in supermarkets you'd be surprised the advantage of that is that it probably something's come more prepared and you go to the supermarket you see what they have and you could very often you be surprised is what is available of an exchange that carry cost your products in you know everywhere some of the mid grade towns meaning not the largest metropolitan areas have surprisingly you know very very well stocked Russian food you know Oklahoma City years ago before they had an Orthodox Rob had a kosher section twenty years ago before before it had a kosher section we were able to get you know Kent City I was know last summer considered all for the city but they do have packaged items that are you know home Easter all good and shaver month some of the products so be ready when you get there correct well sometimes you do call you could a lot of times both shools on their website today will tell you what's available where and then you could call that supermarket just ask what brands do you carry and so on so that's that's one good thing um the other if you go into a bigger city and they have crush your restaurants one should confirm that the agency that sort of find that facility is its reputable now this gets a little bit tricky um so it's not the most comfortable conversation either we're not here to say anything wrong with anybody but I want to make at one point you could have in a small town you have a Rob who's you know very airless and it does as best as possible but ultimately sometimes they have to rely on leniency which they have the right to rely on just one example which I just mentioned in a shear on Monday is is just example in a nursing home on Shabbos you could have a kosher nursing home but they're relying on a leniency which is permissible and that is you're allowed to interlock I'm asking non-jew to do something for someone who's ill it's permissible on Shabbos so if someone's in hospital you could ask the nurse than that Jewish nurse to heat up the food for this Kyler there's some places that there are small towns that cannot much get in place they're very limited in what they could do so they say shop is how we gonna get somebody in there so what they do is they heat it before Shabbos and then the guy the guy didn't heat up the food on shops for the patients and that's permissible but if you're visiting that facility and they may have a little commissary for guests or they may serve guest food but if you're a good health you can't eat that food right nothing wrong how about to rely on because the rob is doing it for a nursing home we would never start you never allow that but in this small town he has a Shia is permissible but for you for it for the healthy visitor it strafe there's one example but the other corner sometimes I have to be cut unfortunately and and one should really you know look ahead and see is this is this up to the standards that I required for myself is that the standards they would use at home correct you don't want to be more lenient just because you're going all right right that's correct right that's part of the plan in some hotels we'll bring in food like what do we call airline meals right people don't know what airline bills are anymore because they they we were going up to had any airline bills if you flew from here to right but today you gotta go international get that airline meals but there are towels that bring in airline meals catered what is that one thing is you can't because there was a liquidy those airline meals you can't you cannot have them heated up on Chaves and I want something from from an email someone emailed me that so what can you do with those meals I'll tell you there for Shabbos and this is the only food you have so you would think that you take them and you defrost them and that's what you have for a child's right there ready precooked so he said it doesn't work like that I'm not much of a chef but he said your kid just take them and defrost him it's not gonna be terrible what you have to do is you have the hotel or the cruise or whatever heat up to heat it up on air showers on Friday and it's really good isn't that still has to be heated right and then you put it into your frigerator it's like something I left over getting them right you put into your future then you either Thank You kini down chopped so you can't just take it out the freezer and here and defrost it and now it's edibles not it's not it doesn't work I would check ahead also with the hotel she was thinking about talent it's gonna bring you with meals you want to check ahead who's gives actual what the meals are you wanna make sure they come sealed then self clean is a constituent of an oven and then once it's self cleaned and that's but that really goes to the point of then when you go into a hotel you wanna you know you may have to cos for up so that way it's an energy so those are those are becoming that's all the rooms again what is not a question again is keys you know electrical key on Shabbos and that's permissible to leave by the front desk advance to make up with them right then they open the door for you that would be that's only because opening the doors and there are bullet ask a guy I'm not June to do a lot of 41 yontiff is fine that sugar does not need a half-shirt um if you want to use milk if you're not gonna hold its role then you know developed countries Germany etc including decaf yes be careful it's also fine because o is more of an issue for pizza right even even some of the House Blend house blends regular coffee no problem you know Jamaican blend Jamaican coffee it's just plain coffee coffee granules all that sound problem again the milk you can add if you want now if you want the artificial milk you know part of a milk so most of the soy milks and rice dreams which people use in place of milk most of those have an extra so you just have to ask them to see the Box when it's coming out of an actor it's good to go you know but yet some of the artificial milk non-dairy creamers those those are tricky those need a good nap sure so you have to really examine them you're probably better off you have a better chance of seeing it on a container of sweet milk so so this question you just answer is about half and half right those right dose can be an issue depends on three days right your Korean is not a problem sometimes I don't think is glycyrrhiza things like that I'll give you a problem put it part of it goes inside your room and part goes outside your room and then you lock it and you can't push the door open anymore there is such a thing that's how you could lock it again some was a logic to say it's only religious Jews who use bring food to or to a hotel room because everybody else goes out room service and it was at that argument that maybe it really isn't a problem but Ramana felt he shouldn't use it because it's a possibility but now with the admin most most hotels have this one time use pod you know they give you a curry wood and order for someone to use it for a Louis he would say it I guess by the river by the Missouri River on i-70 but if you are just staying in hotel in the morning when you wake up you could say it right away are you planning another moment is your home you know you're not you're over ready you're ready on the road so you can say my way that's another point I'm not sure everybody knows so it's good to bring that out let's see if during the week and they run into numerous problems number one is they forgot it's you know they want to go in October they're retired uh Tober you know okay so that I think most people catch that but for example let's see if lunch Annika okay right a lot of people how to do the people have off schools give off they want to go on a trip they start planning trips and then they realize that they're taking a trip in a way that then I could be able to light but no euro they have all these shots I can't leave every year I get calls in there any attachment I put the ticket I can't change it and everyone wants the cheapest deal but like okay Jill's gonna read how you going you're flying home the last night is kind of good you know from LA to Baltimore did you go to the airport and you drive you from someplace you can't light any we're gonna let you like the airport you gonna be out playing the whole time you can learn it's a straw it's also a little harder because you may just miss out so it because I complicated you may want to spend a few extra dollars to or maybe a little less convenient it'll stop mm-hmm it's not exactly the right times at one but make sure is good six amp fly should do is there's a several ways to make a similar one way is is take a long couple grocery bags from the fro grocery where you live put the meat in there tie it with really tight nuts double knotted so that the thing one of the tamper would that mean they would have to rip the bag open the bag is watching them because how they gonna get a bag like that yeah not do they have to take care of your really stock you could make your own sinan and that is you go to the deli and you carve out a CIMMYT that they won't realize the cinnamon if they decide to eat your meat and put in others you will see that the little triangles or dots that you put through the meat right there that's it's a good point I'm glad you heard it brought it up because it's something that people wouldn't realize if you put it in the fridge and that's it nobody's people coming into the room and you're that you're not home you're not in the room though all the time get ready our thing we cover many different
