one is honey because honey is a mainstay of rosh hashanah meal and also the seam on the special signs things that you eat and things that you don't eat on rosh hashanah and these holy days now if you checking of course the bees it was more for my edification just to see how it's done to suit up it was kind of looking for the traditional color bees wrapping and I've part of part of the inspection on the phone my gosh Israel I suited up and I got the rubbish am I did not get i did not get stung but the proprietress told me that she gets stung pretty often and so so what are some of the kashrus issues that you may have with with with honey you have one of the one of the issues that sometimes they cut it or dilute it with corn soup right over mine yes further yes that's that's a common issue now it's not an issue really for all year use year-round use because the corn syrup is not the cautious issue but it becomes an issue on Pesach right when corn syrup is kidneys and and potentially could have some comets issues so therefore we pay so if you want to get a honey that is kosher for pesach the rest of the year though stark a policy is that it doesn't require honey doesn't require any not sure if it's unflavored as long as it's just plain honey it is it is ok I understand that there are other opinions out there i think the crc FR by a biz here you can verify for us crc in chicago i think has some issue with this with the heating and so on they require some extra but it's so surprising the stock a opinion is that it doesn't require anything right now now now now i want to tell you something though but with you see like this company that i showed you is called the be folks it's actually uh they have many different types of honey they have blueberry honey and strawberry honey and cactus sunny and avocado honey have a clover clover for sure clover is very popular um um actually they don't sell clover honey because they feel that most of the clover honey comes from China and in China it's more likely to be corn syrup mix mix with corn syrup so that's the one honey I think that they don't have really yeah but but the other news anal is it and also I'm time do they make it do they make their own I mean they don't make money but I mean today they raised the bees yeah so they don't have any clover I don't have club when they buy honey than boys well maybe we should explain what does that mean exactly for those people who are not quite okay so what's the difference by q1 what is the difference between all these different types of money they're not flavors did not flame it's not that they have regular honey and then they add flavors which you can do and that does require a certification these different types of money avocado honey and who knows all different clovers like in town for years old is it is depends on which plants the honey's get the bees sorry is it that's a negative from right the bees get the nectar from if they go if they if they feasting on blueberry plants then then it will have a little hint of blueberry and so they call specialty honeys and so okay you know as I say so so I mean that the bees only go to the to those plants at hand well right right nectar so they somehow the beekeepers lead them or let them loose in the area where they want them to collect the nectar and then that's how they um and that's how they make that make the honey by the way I should mention that in the stark a really the true expert on honey is rabbi hebbar who I wrote an article a very comprehensive article call to be or not to be it's in our Cassius currents archives and he goes through many of the ricotta's issues with honey I recommend that you take a look at that okay ape says good morning when is this okay the crc policies that retail honey does require certification do the disgusting the honey and you need to do a hot fill and equipment and they've also been used for not kosher hot full product has a stark address this issue okay that's a good question in arts and our experience that the many facilities first of all how hot is it it can get hot it can't get hot sometimes it's heated to the heat of sometimes done room temperature and be a temperature the filtering sometimes it may be heated to like a hot summer day but sometimes a quick it let's say 160 degrees oh really it could in our experience those places are doing only honey and not producing other things we haven't come across many compatible honey places are compatible with other non kosher products and therefore our policy remains that it's okay without any I mean today that without knowing because I really never been to a honey film company but i would say without knowing because of the viscosity which i think means it's thick right right so he closes so thick that any way that you need to hat i would imagine that that they need to clean out pretty well at least between the runs right yeah you don't know me before me pulling it out in before me the four is not before that's their concern okay but the start gate position is that that doesn't present a a major issue and and it's okay without any have sure of course like anything else says okay without a half year if you gather with a half shirt yes sir then they're getting a benefit of knowing that there's a muskie up there and they can tell shawna you should be carefully that's that's that's a good idea that one what you're not going sir there's something I'm serious okay why not okay good everything will be strict about a lot of things that don't need to be on regimen um now why you certainly get a start cake okay why why do they heat it let's get let's get to that they heated the heat the honey in order to filter it where the honey comes let me show you let me show you that whereas here here's a sample okay this is a the box is how they collect the honey and these are that's part of the highest part of the hive that the hunt that the it's a wooden structure where the honey's little bees can create they're there they put the beeswax in there and they put their honey in there um well first we put the honey in any cover with beeswax basically and and this is where the net and the modern a big collection that's how it's done then they take these these boards and they sent your future them and then the honey and the beeswax all comes out so and the bees there are bees in there too so they need to filter it so that you have clear honey and they could strain it you want to strain out the B parts ok B parts are not kosher is it so you want to strain out you want to make sure that your be that your honey has no be part so if it usually it would be strained to take that will be enough to take out the be part sometimes they need to filter it more through diatomaceous earth to get really really clear generally you don't find be parts and honey even if it says on it that is it is unfiltered my understanding is that can mean a lot of things unfiltered doesn't mean unstrained it means it's not filtered in any serious way but it is strength take out the wax and the other things in there right so that would that but you know you do have those those those brands of honey yeah right or tell people like it yelling which comes with the comb but the honeycomb actually in the bottle right there but as long as doesn't have bees that would be okay but there are some animals doesn't it these look at you can see if it's clear I got it you could see it as clear that let me call me the honeycomb doesn't doesn't necessarily have Beason it doesn't have be parts today they take it out they don't want you to get key parts but there are some honey's that had that that have the whole with them that that's their that's their life exactly right great help they don't take anything out they have the beeswax and have beat parts and they have the honey and have everything it showed us it goes where those would be a problem and that is that that would be I think there should be avoided now if you're mentioning about honeycomb so cereal the honeycombs right people a lot of people want to have honeycombs and even on Russia Sheldon as well so you buy a raw honey calm right and then it has many details in Russia China yeah well you can you that the honeycomb is beeswax oh you you can chew it um and get the honey out do you do i do not know it's a popular item around around mr. know there's one with one more thing here there is a company called true source honey you might see that certification on bottles true source honey they start to be like a like sort of like quality control certification so I asked what that is what what is in our company has that no but some companies have it and what it is is a certification of the source of the country where the honey comes from my guess is that they're mostly trying to avoid china again voy Chinese money and so I asked how you can tell where the honey comes from so that certain tests that you can do for instance the money has pollen in it that you can't even see because it's all mixed in with the honey and if it has a certain profile they can prove that that came from from china and then they wouldn't certify if you're claiming that comes from brazil right ok there's nothing wrong with chinese honey nothing will say long as it's really honey right right well but that's why there's this impression of people wanting to avoid it because of the the corn syrup issue and things like that um it's not really he writes not cautious issue as we mentioned before but they don't pollen analysis I'm not sure if you research this or not but it means that they mention to anything about the idea that there might be a honey shortage because there is there honey shoulders as if a shortage because as a bee shortage rights as I by D plague remember going around I tell my kids home you know we used the soco survived and it was amazing everywhere right right it hasn't been yes around abrazo at least for suckas but it's not such a brothel I haven't read about a honey shortage but besides for a honey it's not only honey that would be affected is everything all the crops right like all the fruit crops would be not if not a kosher issue it's propolis which itself would be kosher but is processed and therefore needs a hechsher is royal jelly which is supposed to be very healthy for and very expensive but it is not considered kosher and you're not be consumed there is beeswax which makes the honeycomb and it's not a food and therefore it is it is considered to be kosher of course it's not usually eating heaton bee venom people are eating be venomous supposed to have some I just need to pee now mm-hmm oh yeah people are giving tickets all this also it's also realized it's also yes whos first rice is for companies that are in the United States but even stricter rules from Mexican companies that are exporting to the United States and they're very heavily regulate even more than the American companies I mean I would argue also that I mean I i had the same impression as you tonight and I went down there also thinking that this would be like third world and it was not but I don't think they're just doing this for the United States because they exports really to Europe also and I think Europe is probably a lot stricter than we are in the US as far as safety includes like that guy it could be but he said that unless you have mentioned that he thought in Europe they have whatever stand is they have but they're the same and so inconvenient companies and also for the Mexico villains they just have to keep whatever the european standard is but in America it's like a double standard me basically really so that's Donald Trump has to say about that when we negotiate all these it's not a political show so we don't then another thing that i found interesting was that all my friends and relatives said what are you going to eat down there I mean what did you what did you eat but wouldn't there is plenty of kosher food there it's a lot of hot sauce a lot of hot sauce a lot of chilies star K has ashrita there we have ashrita and so this plenty of start getting meat and chicken there that is available and I didn't have any problem anything uh no and if you do you the gold I mean what I what I would mention is like there is it's unlikely we were discussing this off off mic as we say in the business well we were selling this idea that that in America were kind of spoiled because you can you can pretty much to travel anywhere in the United States now and walk into any grocery store and find kosher product you know with reliable hash causes more act that way and you won't go hungry really and set meal and who knows where but but most of the time you can find it in Mexico that's not necessarily the case especially if you're out in the you know outside of Mexico City right so mexican soo diro you really not going to find a whole lot to then that you could ate that you could eat that at least reliably certified so there is that there was also the safety issue that i found that the my friends the colleagues year were very nervous in my safety when they went there but i found it as far as i can see i are never felt really nervous about it nothing there made me feel nervous I was following the lead of them of the Lorenz and and of course it's like any city there are places you go and places that you can stay far away from this true wrestling you don't notice of course that everything is pretty much behind the wall writers gates gated right everyone's kind of literally their own little fortress okay it took us I remember we went into a large dairy company and it took us about an hour to get through security mm-hmm which you know unless I was going into like some high tech level government you know contract or maybe you have the United States but it was crazy let me know the amount of security that they have there is really really in the facilities I'm saying and if all the facilities hmm so you're right you don't really feel it when you're in Mexico City walking around but I think they do take it serious oh there are different areas the area that we happen to stay and I thought was the least the locals did not consider it to be dangerous and you know I followed basically they leave that they told me not to go here I've I was going wherever they said um I'm sure there's many places have to be very careful and their places we travel to that I would not want to get stuck it right but that's true in Baltimore I was I was founder assuming that I the truth we came in at night in unfamiliar airport on familiar language no familiar but we don't speak it hmm and so I was happy that there was someone there to you know to
