Airstrikes During the Battle of Peleliu

During the Battle of Peleliu, there was constant artillery and air support for the 1st Marine Division. Aircraft dropped napalm and conventional bombs all along Bloody Nose Ridge on Japanese positions. Once the airfield is taken and cleared, aircraft are based there for air support. Sorties are so short that many pilots don't bother to retract their landing gear.
