A secular woman from one of the kabutim
in southern Israel told the following
story. Two years ago, she started
keeping Shabbat, though it was difficult
as there was no Shabbat atmosphere on
the Kaboots.
Her husband was a bit less observant,
but they encouraged each other. She said
that with young children at home, it's
really tough to be in a kabutz where no
one keeps Shabbat besides for her.
She decided together with her husband
that on Shabbat they won't stay on the
kabuts.
So every week they would go and spend
Shabbat with different family members
and friends who were observant.
Over the year they had not been present
on the kabuts for Shabbat. They went out
every week on Simatra. They decided to
stay home.
Why? Because it was tough for her to
travel before giving birth. So they
stayed home for Shabbat and invited
guests over.
On that tragic morning, they heard
rockets, sirens, gunshots, and people
speaking in Arabic. They saw everything
that was happening outside. So they
decided to lock their home. They watched
in fear as the monsters went from house
to house, shooting, burning, and
exploding everything in their path.
Incredibly, they observed from the
peepphole in the front door that the
terrorists skipped by their house in
totality and proceeded to the adjacent
home.
They continued on their murdering spree,
but they didn't come close to their
home. Nobody understood why.
Miraculously, they were all saved,
including the guests. Later on, it was
reported that many Palestinians from
Gaza who worked in Israel were traders.
A woman who was a former peace activist
said, "I can't believe it. I gave a
Palestinian toys and sweets for his
kids. I spoiled him and supported the
kids of Gaza because I advocated for the
solidarity among nations." It turned out
that he was spying on the kabuts.
He made a list of the number of kids in
each family. The lists were very
specific. They detailed the individuals
that will be killed and taken captive.
Here lives a family with four children
accompanied by a dog. This was
discovered in the possession of these
terrorists. The list detailed an exact
description of every street and home on
the kabuts. Regarding their house, it
said that on Saturdays they are not at
home.
So on October 7th, they passed their
home and said there's no point going
there. The terrorists skipped their
house and continued on. We heard the
story firsthand at the yeshiva.
This is another incredible story that
demonstrates the impact of observing
Shabbat.
