we are raising one of the most selfish
generations derivative we spend so much
time as parents thinking about what our
children will wear where we will
vacation how often do mother and father
sit down and say what are we going to do
about our daughter's character what are
we going to do about our son who seems
to be jealous we have a window and that
window is very small and once children
get older they stop listening as well
they stop seeing as well because they
think that they know better the
foundation of every home just as there's
a physical foundation there must be a
spiritual foundation in Judaism we say a
color at all in attitude of gratitude to
raise children with appreciation for who
is in their life for what they have for
every moment for the time that we have
together why do you think it is so
difficult for children today to have
this attitude of glass
why is it that nothing is ever good
enough
we live in a disposable society you do
the sweatshirts stop crying
you will get another one did you ever go
to school at the end of the year and see
the lost and found baseball cap
sweatshirts jacket you could close
village and nobody comes back to
claiming and what we teach our children
is that we live in a disposable society
where everything is replaceable and when
everything is replaceable we stop
appreciating what we have and after a
while not only things are replaceable
but the people become replaceable and we
stop cherishing and appreciating the
people in our lives because nothing has
value anymore how many children say
thank you did you ever fly with children
on a plane how many children say thank
you when they're served a drink a snack
and if I don't teach it to this child
they will just grow more and more
entitled and arrogance now how do we
begin to do that we all know the story
of Moses when it came to the ten plagues
and it came to the first plague of blood
God said to Moses you cannot hit the
nile river your brother Aaron must do
you know why because when you are a baby
you were in a bath and the basket was
placed in the river and the river saved
your life so you cannot hit the river
because you must have an attitude of
gratitude
the river feel the River knows the
difference if Moses hits or not God was
not concerned with the feelings of the
river God was concerned with the
character Moses
you must learn does attitude of
gratitude and yes the river was flowing
anyway so what's the big deal
did the river go out of its way no the
Tonys teaching us the most crucial of
parenting lessons
yes the river was supposed to flow and
yet the bus driver is supposed to drive
and the teacher is supposed to teach and
mommy is supposed to be there for you
and have dinner for you and have a
loving home for you and daddy is
supposed to be there for you and study
with you and take you to football or
soccer but that my child does not mean
that you do not have a right and
responsibility to say thank you thank
you to the teacher and thank you to the
bus driver and thank you to the security
guards and thank you too mom and thank
you too dad lesson number one of
parenting to open up our children's eyes
to those in their life that they take
granted it's crucial for a child
character
