Breaking a Heavenly Vow | Rabbi Moshe Perlstein

Everybody is looking for a salvation. Everyone needs a good Segulah. So many of us know people that need a recovery, that need to get married, that need children, that need a livelihood. Everybody needs something. And therefore, we’re always looking and searching, What other thing can I do? What Segulah didn't I do yet? The holy books give us an unbelievable Segulah. When the Yetzer Hara is right at your tail and he's about to bite, the challenge is there and you have the choice, Will I look? Will I not look? Will I hold myself back? Will I not hold myself back? Say the holy books, That is an auspicious time. Pray right there. Say: Ribono shel Olam, I will not do this, because I need my friend to have a salvation, I need my daughter to get married, I need my sister to have children, I need a livelihood, whatever it is. Everybody, whatever salvation that it is, use that moment, seize that moment, because it's an auspicious time. R’ Yaakov Meir Shechter explains to us an unbelievable showing of this auspicious time. Yirmiya Hanavi writes, Yechonya, he quotes that he was the biggest wicked person. So much so, that the Aibishter, Hashem, made a vow, He will never have children. He's done. And then we know, Nebuchadnezzar comes into Yerushalayim and seizes all the Tzaddikim, all the Torah scholars. Mordechai Hatzaddik is there, as well. Who was exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon. They’re all put to Babylon and they’re let free and they build up study halls and Torah institutions. But Yechonya is put into prison, him and his wife. The sages understood that Moshiach has to come from this couple, Yechonya and his wife, from the descendants of Dovid, and they arrange for Yechonya and his wife to be able to meet. And at that moment, Yechonya, Chazal tell us, had a challenge that was so strong, and he was able to overcome the challenge. And the Aibishter says that I will break my vow. And he merited to have children, Shaltiel. Could you imagine? The Aibishter made a vow, Kudsha Brich Hu, the Aibishter, King of the world. But because Yechonya was able to overcome, it turned into an auspicious time, and the Aibishter nullified the vow and he merited to have offspring. And from there Moshiach will come. What? Yirmiya calls him the biggest wicked person. But look at the power of an auspicious time of overcoming a challenge. You can accomplish great things. If a person uses that, seizes that opportunity to pray for whatever it is, when a person merits to hold back and not follow the nature of the world, the power is so strong, the billboards of the world are screaming against the Aibishter, the challenges are so strong, but I say, Ribono shel Olam, I’m going to crown You King. I will make You King of the world right now. And I'm going to go with You and hold myself back. Says the Aibishter, What do you need? Here it is. Rabosai, let's accomplish great things for one another and merit all salvations, Amen v’Amen.
