British Observant Jew MP Speaks On Shabbat, Conscience, And Rising Antisemitism

I have to declare an interest because Rabbi Schlanganger who was murdered in this atrocity was my relative too. Uh my lords, most Jewish festivals are commemorated privately at home or in synagogue. Uh but Khaneka is celebrated publicly and that's why my response to this atrocity is going to be to go to Parliament Square this evening to light a Khaneka monova proudly and publicly. But so far as a government's response is concerned. And while we are always grateful for support for the community security trust, the debate about Jewish security needs to move away from being about higher walls around our synagogues and more guards outside our schools and onto the root causes of why we actually need such security. So will the noble lord or the minister explain what the government is actually doing in practical terms to counter the extremist ideologies which is driving this anti-semitic violence and to remove them and their proponents from our social media out of our universities and off our streets.
