do welcome to Torah talks kak Tuesday
night program with special guests we
have with us all the way from erish in
Israel from the Army how are you hey how
are you very good you should hear only
only good news we're gonna be talking
about the war in Israel and before we
talk about it if you give us and our
listeners a little bit background about
yourself yes so I'm
Sim um I'm originally from uh frat in
Israel and my parents are uh from LA Los
Angeles and my mother's from Vancouver
and they made Aliah about 30 years ago I
was born and raised in Israel uh I was
born in Jerusalem and uh thank God I uh
I went to
Yeshiva in the old city and after five
years in Isa The Old City I decided to
get drafted into the army uh and was a
soldier uh a helper of the rabbi of the
paratroopers um and in the end towards
the end of the service I decided uh that
I'm gonna join to become a uh a an army
officer a rabbi and uh today I'm
actually now the rabbi of banim the
paratroopers uh
headquarters uh where they become to
train how to become a soldier the
paratrooper Soldier uh and today um now
the rabbi from uh starting of the I
started the to become a rabbi there
about a month and a
half and uh that's that's what it is
until
now so so for us Americans at least
myself that don't have experience with
the Army what is exactly the job of a
rabbi for the power Troopers what's
there to do exactly so we're in charge
from A to Z
um to help them make sure the religion
uh in the Army uh goes well and that
means that we give them classes they
have once a month um once every month
they have a we we have we have to deal
with
a um that's what we deal with in the
normal days and in in the time of the
war we're like the zaka of the army so
we have to deal with the Dead uh the
Dead people so uh I'm a Coen actually so
I still uh I this whole time of the war
I didn't dealt with I didn't deal with
uh the dead but uh actually had to deal
with all the logistic stuff if it's to
give them titas and to give them uh
grape juice
sidor um havdala kits filling kits and
different uh to building a in different
areas where we had to
build
wow wow wow protect all of you and all
of am so can you give us some updates of
what's going on now inish in Israel with
the war yeah so it all happens in Tor
actually was closing in base uh I
actually was in the base and we had a a
couple of units in our base and I wake
up in the morning uh and I actually go
to the sh in the base and I see that uh
the soldiers not there you know we we
told them at 8:00 in the morning we're
going to start a milion and uh actually
no one was in SCH so I started going to
the to the unit wherever they're sitting
there in the in the base and actually
see the commanders and the headquarters
of the of that unit they started telling
me listen there's all kinds of stuff
going on um actually as us were rabbis
we have uh phones on chabis on our in
our pockets but we don't uh you know
it's just like a
walkie-talkie uh and actually I got to
the that group and then I they the
commander started telling me explain to
me that there's things going on and we
don't really know exactly what's going
on but there's a lot of uh uh all kinds
of Arabs
inim wandering around in Israel they
passed the the
headquarters and uh and actually those
soldiers had to start organizing all the
stuff and getting prepared for war and
they started asking me different
questions Hal questions if it's okay
that we could uh start getting our bags
ready you know all kinds of stuff that
are M and all those stuff and actually
of course I said uh of course 100% you
guys can do whatever is needed to do uh
and then from there basically the they
brought a lot of the units back from
home from SIM Torah uh to the base to
the main head base where we were and
over there uh they started uh starting
uh you know using the base as Reg they
started shooting raging and preparing
for war and our head
the the paratroopers uh we I wasn't
there but I was in base but most of the
head commanders and all the soldiers
went to uh the and and all those areas
and had to fight and went through um all
kinds of Wars over there and fought and
went through houses and buildings and uh
they also saw different uh different
things that are not so simple to see uh
different bodies all over uh and I was
actually in the base and I was uh phone
calling my my Rabbi the head
Rabbi and I was phone calling him and
explaining to him where to go directing
him uh to different areas where uh they
were War they were going to to war to
start
fight so so that was uh that was the
horrific Massacre that happened that
shook every single one of us what's the
progress now that it's basically 30 days
a little bit more since that horrific
day yeah so uh thank god um there was
the Army went in of course the we had to
start first uh making sure in in a is
triel everything's uh cleared up uh
whatever it was the you know to kill
the or to ter capture them the
terrorists and to capture them and uh
and now thank God everything's cleared
in in a Israel and uh now there's
soldiers and different units all over
that area in Gaza and uh they're
capturing different areas and uh we're
hopefully everything's going to be okay
and also the paratroopers are slowly
maturely there and different units and
different
areas um and that's the that's the plan
now that's what's going
on so what's the Vibes for the different
soldiers in the different
bases so thank God uh the vibe is is
very high the soldiers are you can just
see them I was I CL this my I'm since
theim since the the time of the El I was
uh I was in base and the guys are their
morale is high
up uh and they're amazing they're just
training training training training and
they were busy training this whole time
in different areas and they're preparing
for whatever is needed and they're
they're uh they're they're amazing they
these soldiers are amazing they're
together they're combining together
they're having a big morale and uh it's
just amazing they're ready to to do
whatever is needed to do look about I'll
tell you one thing there was a guy from
America who was in Israel he left Israel
he came back to America and he tells me
that in Israel they're more full four is
positive the whole nine yards and in
America he's like people are much more
worried in America so there's definitely
something special uh you know energy and
the air Andes in the holy land and the
question is to you is those of us
outside of Israel what can we do to help
with this war so uh as you as you know
uh the soldiers are working day and
night wherever is needed to be they're
working there and uh we're actually you
know when when here in Israel when it's
night time so actually the the civilians
are are resting and sleeping and uh as
we know the clock in in New York or in
America in different areas um is is
morning time and we actually need a lot
of a lot of theim and learning together
Kusa uh and meming the soldiers in in
the battle and the other people that are
dealing with whatever is needed to be
deal dealt with uh needs um everyone to
be there together to to
read and to
learn mishna whatever's needed in order
that the Torah should be strong and Isel
should feel the Torah and the should
also feel that Torah the push of the
Torah that it should be very helpful for
for us 100% and that's how I got to do a
Torah talk with sim a friend from
Israel who reached out saying listen
they reached out to me from the Army and
they're saying that the the war the main
war time is middle of the night for
Israel and like you just said that the
civilians are sleeping so Us in America
have an opportunity to D in and pray and
to learn to
which is the main Shield the main
protection that will take care of our
shoulders of our of our dear and uh it's
between it depends on where you live but
more or less between 5: to 10 p.m. we
should be having people reading learning
doing charity is always very important
as we all know and that's the message
that we have for from our shoulders like
we heard directly
from we have a T talk one final message
that you can give over to
CLA to all of us yeah so um actually CL
we know
that whatever happened happened but uh
we're all going to be strong together
and uh everyone we're we're waiting here
for guys from to come here and actually
we were in the base and a lot of
Americans came and a lot of donors came
to donate uh meat and they made
barbecues and they gave us a lot of
equipment whatever is needed for the
soldiers and continue doing what you
guys are doing and uh it's amazing and
keep on learning keep on learning for us
over there and uh we're waiting for the
G for everyone to come to
Israel and uh we're praying and we hope
you guys
also uh stay safe over there and keep uh
learning and and praying for us over
here in is
am me we will definitely do
that what you're doing you're on the
front lines and we're over here praying
for you we're going to be learning for
you and all of your friends and all the
for all of for all the Jewish people uh
you should know that we were many
communities have done it our community

a lot of stuff to the Army we just had a
