[Music] good evening everyone as all of you who are local to Great Neck know it's very difficult to say no where the pole Brody asks you to come to Sunday so Paul you and Drori continue to make yourselves role models in our community for helping organizations and for doing what's important for the Jewish community I like to build if I can for a moment on the introduction that was given I got a call last year from a fellow by the name of Shama Shama calls me and says rabbi I need your help okay what can I do for you he says there's a young man in Great Neck we're not Queens there's a young man in Great Neck who wants to go to from public school to Eva but his parents can't afford it and Hasan is doing whatever it can do to pay the tuition for this young man to go to yeshiva and we need her the Barra Hashem the sholde was able to help and I see the difference in this young man whom I see every chalice I see the difference in him as a result of going from public school to you she mohnish had sunless and the flush house literally saved the neshamah of this young man and here it's not a situation where the parents were imposed either they were opposed to each other they just couldn't push it before they could afford to send their son thieves Eva so even though he wanted to go it wasn't until huzzah got involved that he was able to go so the queue at the end of Kazakh might stand for Queens but it reaches into Great Neck as well and many other communities around my job is to introduce our guest speaker for this evening you already heard that already has a use is a gift was from his famous father of a Jonathan R Yeti who is an Internet star you can catch any of his multitude of videos up on the internet for those of you who have internet you can catch many of these videos and see what a brilliant and captivating speaker he is and Elly comes obviously grown up in that tradition tele himself educated here in the United States and then spent three years in the Israel Army in Sabah first as both a gunner and also as a desert tracker both careers in Sabah needing exceptional ability he came back here he doesn't do kiru full-time I think his father does keep her full-time he doesn't do Kira full-time he does kheer of 3/4 time and tries to make up our Nesta in the other corner of the time but what's amazing about him is that he in 2009 started with his father an organization called breakthrough phenyl which is geared visiting the website go to the website breakthrough he knows calm and you'll see the incredible effort that was put into providing tools to help young men and women master the skills that they need in yeshiva and if that wasn't enough between all of the time that he puts into managing other people's money le wrote a book called the froma revolution the full revolution you have to read it I'm not going to give away the ending I think there's some books here tonight am i incorrect ok so there's some books here tonight the further revolution how to solve the problem of children off the dara or at least one good approach and I like to encourage you all to get a copy of the book to get it signed by Ellie to read it and after you read it if you don't need it yourself in your session you shouldn't need it but you can share it with somebody who needs it because all of us know individuals who could benefit from that it's my pleasure tonight to be able to introduce to you our guest speaker Kelly [Applause] you return to the front by the place if your kids are fun to go take attending the back door good evening everyone thank you all for coming a special thank you to our host dr. in the pre-revolutionary era in Muncie where I attended pre-revolution initiative elementary schools high schools after about 12 years in the pre-revolutionary elementary and high school system to be honest I felt a little bit lost and burned out I needed to find myself and I need to grow up which I suppose is why I eventually joined these ready market for I served for three years in computer see who's really flies the funk oh I'm hoping this will apply well here tonight many things happen to me in those careers but tonight I'd like to just talk about two of those things that happened number one in army I learned monarchy rule learning Hebrew completely changed my relationship digit and this realization led me to think about how it slipped through this price my trial to be Shiva's how easily this could happen to someone else and how easily this could be solved and the curriculum of the future so how did learning people change our relationship injuries want me to share the following story after completing my army service are returned by Massey and one morning I found myself initial and I'm to be honest the shul was not one of my favorite things to do that I've been but for some reason that I don't remember right now on this particular morning I found myself an issue shoppers something they just finished recording Schaffner was about to start so I sat down in the back put on sounded like people dancing to a with their feet stomping on the ground but feet stomping sounded more like a pool one hurts and with something like this [Music] Oh Oh son that's big my jaw dropped to the ground giant trees Provenza in a circle holding each other's branches if they were hands stop being on the ground with their feet the ground vibration every stop one of the trees gently beckoned me to join the circle so we joined the dancing trees jumping singing clapping and some of my dream was interrupted by the very harsh I woke up that initial finding myself other sieving in a long communal shush realizing that my choice between ER was inappropriate in the shul I stopped my dancing pocket the shul could do that and I was left wondering what just happened to me was I just did some 3d movie dreaming what was that exactly the blind is it Harry Potter or the Rings star wars have to be one of those wasn't too short I looked at consider and they're encoded in those words I've language is made up of two components and apologies the Israelis and the audience who might find sport boring but there are two components there are vocabulary words now in this charge and then there's something called the prefixes and suffixes there's one thing I'd like all of you can take from his lecture tonight is these little words three fixes and suffixes prefixes and suffixes for exactly the RP because it suffices and why are they important well those words can be easily translated for people's English so for example let's take the word son I want to teach a kid what the word son means in Hebrew I just found son Shemesh some kid just have to memorize the word and we're good to go but then you have the converse if Hebrew verbs can take down over 30 different meanings based on the attached prefix or suffix you know what I usually denote males females single-pole Prize past present or future tense they want others so when a prefix or suffix is attached a word like a verb they fundamentally changed the meaning of the word to the form that actually becomes a different word that's the main difference between Hebrew in English the pre-revolution system for teaching Hebrew does a decent job teaching Ibrahim Gambari but the pre-revolution system fails when it comes to teaching prefixes and suffixes the problem is the child only knows Oh Kevlar and is not proficient the prefixes and suffixes there's only an illusion of people reading ability in reality there is zero people reading building now the revolution is about solutions I'm not here to bash the pre-revolution system but in order to implement the solution we first need to understand the problem here's the problem a verb attached to a fetus and subjects and they've gone over 30 mins 30 different permutations that you will mathematically what that means is instead of a child learning needing to be learn or memorize one word you know as to memorize 30 words so let's say for example I'm an educator and they want the child to learn 100 verse in their opening Elementary School in the pre-revolution system that child down us to memorize 3000 words instead of a hundred words another way to think about it is if a child is looking at a puzzler or a phrase let's assume they know all the vocabulary words in that puzzle all it takes is one verb in that busted and now they only have a 1 in 30 chance understanding with us at least one of the 30 chance is about a 3% chance there are two verbs in the bus's they now have almost a 1 in 1,000 chance of translating that muscle correctly even if they know all the vocabulary words one in 1,000 doesn't sound like great pass to me allow me to illustrate this briefly forwarding anyone let's use a very very simple two-word phrase you some cool I show mine does anyone in this room know that the root word of the word you some who is Samantha good does anyone know what the word Russian I need beats this guy great does everyone here agree that those are pretty basic course but show of hands how many people in this room are confident that a child would know the words some athletes a child would normally elementary school but show of hands how many people is you are confident that a child would probably know what the word question mining piece so far so they're now but show hands how many people assume more confident the child would know how to translate the phrase isthmus Lew Hutchins mine a little bit less people more confident about that I have a homework assignment for anyone in this room if anyone watching this video a like everyone to take a child that they know to be your hotel give your niece your nephew your neighbor take them and ask them what this you some who watch you mind me in fact feel free to point at any phrase consider and pence that's a translated I think the answer may surprise you but the revolution is about solutions and Kazak and she already and are invested in the curriculum of the future so let's focus on the to keep going strong the confidence to know not just what to do but why they're doing it how do we do that the answer is actually very simple all we need to do is give them the Jewish parishes what did I just say Jewish merchants what does it do without you allow me to tell you another story once upon a time in a land far far away the line 12 Israel qualities are the armed I found myself in this place that ain't English is called Jung soo-jung school is a three-week course where soldiers are trained how to parachute on the plane during the first two recent jump school we practiced all of the motions involved in parachute we practice the correctly is full so that they don't teach ourselves we'll be blind we practice jumping all the towers to simulate the fall and break our fair fights to be reversed marching on to the point the specific seating arrangements on the plane exact order in which we would jump we even practice which specific foot we would use to launch a jump off the planet those of you interested it actually depends which side of the plane you're jumping on which put your uses to launch the jump so the two weeks during the motions after saying wallah movements required we were actually given or reserve parachutes to open up in case the main window I'm going to be dead we were given a second parachute to use just in case the first parachute didn't open after we jumped off of the plane I personally found that a little bit scary and then unexpectedly the day before was difficult to jump not shorter brought us to a large warehouse in a remote section of the base inside the warehouse we saw rows and rows of long narrow tables on each of these tables parachutes were being stretched out to their full length but several soldiers soldiers carefully inspecting each parachute poking at the canopy don't believe the ropes the boasts of a thought they're inspecting their patients I'm sure they pulled us we know that some of you may be scared by the fact that maybe when the time comes your parachute might not open so we decided to bring you here first before you jump to introduce you to the parchment inspection team [Music] these soldiers spend their entire military careers inspecting parachutes in fact they spent every single parachute before it gets used they don't just spa it it checked every single one so when you jump all that plane tomorrow you can rest assured that you are using a parachute that was inspected today that visit to the warehouse helped me overcome my fear that the parachute were not open and this having seen with my own eyes that care given to each individual parachute my confidence and trust in system allowed me to take that leap of faith off the airplane the pre-revolution elementary school system focuses on how to practice Jesus how to learn Torah the performances at the know the truth but the curriculum of the future also teaches the story behind it the fulfilled prophecies the unbroken and accurate transmission of the tour over thousands of years how geography topography in archaeology all confer our landmarks events mentioned in the Torah the career of the future preemptively answers the children's questions before they ask them questions like how do I know if God exists how do I know God need the third of the Jews that are seen what we experiment different than all the other the really the presentation is called the Emunah experience or as I like to qualify to eat the food experience use a method called contextual education to bring all these topics into context in the child's mind but the presentation does in a nutshell is identified 44 main events Jewish history and then use that as a springboard to launch different levels of level one shows that archaeology confirms all the events level 2 shows how the transmission of the Torah remain unbroken over thousands of years level three shows us 17 20 prophecies made the Torah already come true remember BT is
