everybody welcome back to the
charity vachabora right this is the
safer we're using
fantastic rabbino yonah we all need to
do truva
talking adding myself into this
obviously
this is what we need to do this is why
we were created to serve hashem
we might as well do with joy and we
might as well do it as perfectly as
possible
and even though there are basically
three
some people count four general
principles in terms of doing chuva
the rabbiniona breaks it down into 20
simple bite-sized pieces and that was in
short olive
that was in the first um i called
chapter
gate and you can go back and watch those
videos right down below
in the youtube description box there is
a
link and you can go back and watch them
from the very beginning i just want to
mention this class is dedicated to the
reforeshalema
of pinto okay for those
who know he is yoshiyahu yosef ben zakri
mizrat hashem through the merit of our
learning we should see a
refusal amendment to him and to all of
those who are
in need of a reforeshalema
we're in chapter 10 i'm sorry we're in
paragraph 10 we're in chapter two
for those using our book it's on page
157 now i just want to mention before we
start because my daughter got married
a week and a half ago and i said
something over at cheva broca's and it's
about a minute and a half so bear with
me
i think it's very it was for me it's
very touching the thing
the the vort the words that i came
across
and i wanted to share with them and i
did and i want to share with you
it'll take just a few valuable seconds
before we
delve deep into uh paragraph 10.
in judaism we we're taught that at the
chupa
at the wedding ceremony our ancestors
those
who are no longer in this world
the bubbies and the zetas and the great
grandparents if they're not around
they are in the next world and yet they
attend to the chupa
they're there to what what are they
there for
i mean we could feel their presence we
don't feel their presence but guess what
their souls and the shamans are there
now a great question was asked that i
saw
the question that was asked was why
would they come remember where they are
they're in a place called gone aiden
right gone aiden is what it sounds like
it's a peaceful place
it's eternal rest so to speak
why would they get up and come down to
this world
that is dark and physical
what kind of pleasure could they get
right because they're going to do it
they're going to
have some motivation some kind of reason
so very simply as we discussed before we
started this
uh the video uh on zoom
that perhaps right to to get the
enjoyment of watching their own
grandchildren
their own children grandchildren great
grandchildren getting married
so we know that when you go to a wedding
it's
giving them joy right but
you're it's not tangible so it doesn't
really make sense that they would
come for their for um to give the other
people
the the husson and kala the bride and
the groom any kind of enjoyment because
they're not sensing it and again why
would they leave such a peaceful place
we have a concept that says there's no
reward
right the real pleasure of the mixes
that we do
are not felt in this world so here they
are coming out of ghanaian to do what
do a mitzvah of misamek the casino which
is first of all is not even perceived by
us
and let alone it wouldn't be perceived
by them either
so i saw an amazing idea and i you know
it
i well up with tears when i think about
it because my daughter is getting
married right
they guess what it's not only the
ascendants right the
the um the past uh souls
but even the future souls that are
coming to be
because of this marriage they're present
as well
their presence amazing concept right
we're talking about conduction making
a match between a man and woman becoming
one flesh and
one flesh there's different concepts
behind it but one flesh could mean and
does
mean the the children that are going to
come out
of this marriage and those souls that
are not even
yet born let let alone conceive they're
not even there
of course they're conceived in hashem's
mind they exist
right and they're there and i mentioned
the chevy brokers when everyone was
present right the
the in-laws that we got to meet each
other just a few days before
and we spent a lot of time together that
this is just the beginning
there'll be many more times in the
future when the
descendants right not the ascendants but
the descendants
eventually get together and they are the
chuppah
their own how many years from now 20
years 30
who knows right as the great
grandchildren even get together
that we will meet once again anyway
it was a touching for me to come across
this
piece and i just wanted to share it with
you now let's get into
the meat and potatoes we're talking
about
another way of inspiration to do truga
through
being inspired now it may sound really
counter-intuitive but
we're talking about embracing moosa and
criticism
who wants to hear it right shut it off
close it off hide under a rock right if
you're a turtle
put your head in if you're an ostrich
dig a hole and put your head in
right who needs it well guess what
not only do we need it we should embrace
it okay
so that's going to be the topic of
chapter
of paragraph 10 and we're going to
hopefully get to
a paragraph eleven which is going to
deal with the danger
of ignoring constructive criticism
okay so here we go
we'll deal with paragraphs 10 and 11.
the third way the third concept that a
person could be aroused to do to
them
when one hears rebuke moosa is ethical
teachings but it's more than
it's admonishment from either the torah
sages or
anyone who's charged with giving rebuke
now who are they
sometimes they think they are you know
they have a sheriff's badge right
the truth is we don't have to worry
right we should listen
and consider the message
not necessarily the messenger right
hopefully if it's
if it's people who are really straight
on the narrow and they're walking the
walk right they
they they don't they're not just talking
the talk but they're walking the walk
this is something that we should not run
away from and for those who
may maybe hypocrites maybe not so
righteous in our eyes we should anyway
try to hear
the message there's something about us
about it pay attention to it
yakshi the ishmael listen to listen good
there's actually two words yakshi then
the ishmael they're both words for
listening
and actually subjugate yourself submit
yourself become humbled
the yakuza buchuva and duchuva
now there is a comment here i want to
i'll get to it shortly
the cabell belibo accept in your heart
receive it well kodi
all of the rebuke that they're giving
you shalom or medivham and don't
diminish their words
okay you may you know and
don't admit anything they say try to to
take it to heart so
here the comment and i just want to i
saw these comments and i think they're
very good
if he if the person does not listen
attentively
so the message might elude him try to
listen well
even ask questions how do you know you
know what did you see
how did you perceive it whatever it was
that they're coming with to you
try to learn something now even if he
does listen
and grasp what is being said he might
not be sufficiently aware of his actions
to
view the message as being relevant to
the person themselves try to
to listen really pay attention
and even if the person realizes the
relevance of the rebuke
change will not occur unless you allow
the words to penetrate your heart
and we're going to discuss this because
this is what it's all about we're going
to talk about
what does it mean to circumcise your
heart right
this is one of the famous statements in
judaism right we do get
i see we we the jewish people half of
the population gets a physical
circumcision but it's a and i don't want
to belittle it in any way
is important but it's also a message
that we have to circumcise our hearts
in other words it's an external
cut on the flesh but it's more symbolic
trust me it's also the covenant it's
very deep we're not going to get into
that now there's a women's share
but we have to remind ourselves that we
have to be
uh to remove the clipa to remove
sorts of barriers from our hearts
in order to um in order to come close to
hashem and to be real you true human
beings
okay so you want to have the words
penetrate your heart
and be humbled by the realization of
your
mistakes okay that's the first idea when
we said
the yakshev the yishma right to really
truly listen
another idea about not omitting
you know truly listening to all the
words it's important to immediately
translate
the inspiration into a commitment in
other words when you hear and you
realize
that there is something you're doing
wrong that you know this is not like a
once
time a year like in the nations do on uh
first of january right they take these
uh i wouldn't call it a vowel
what do they call they call it some kind
of a commitment a resolution
right we also do the same thing during
ll to a certain extent
right this 40-day period right from the
time of
the beginning of blowing the show for
the month of ello until yom kippur
we're constantly thinking about it the
truth is we should be thinking about it
all year round but at least we focus
during the year certain times so too
when we hear that
we should immediately try to grasp the
moment right let's
grasp the moment and try to make a
commitment at that moment
uh great when they say you know grab the
grab you know there's a window
of opportunity don't let it pass you by
because if you don't do it the
inspiration will simply dissolve
and the opportunity to do truva may be
lost
okay let's continue
so when you're hearing it and you're
accepting this rebuke
it's like you're you're leaving the
darkness and a great light has come to
you
i mean how grateful should you be forget
the messenger obviously if it's atomic
someone you respect great sometimes it's
not take it
grab it and realize you have a moment
of leaving the deep darkness and
of sin and going towards a great light
see at least at that moment right allow
your ear to be open
or anticipate right and let your heart
i'll try to understand the message and
you should be
moved to repent the acaba beyond shamu
at least on that very day that you hear
them the words of rebuke
you should um you should accept those
words
and what you're doing is you're
undertaking you to fulfill the words
of that someone's giving you with it and
the teachings of the torah and um
at least from that day onward notice
it's like part of that commitment the
will
understand what we're going to talk
about when you hear those words
and while it's still fresh remember it
could be an embarrassing situation it
could just be the shame involved
just the revelation of the truth take it
don't let it pass you by it will it will
i'll just tell you another just not to
digress but there's a concept
matzah and khames right matzah is very
much related to the word mitzvah it's
almost the same letters
and mitzvah is just with a vow right
memphis
what's the difference between a mitzvah
which will relate to mata and khames
which is fermented
and spoiled because homage
is actually the same just bear with me
it's almost the same letters as matzah
memzadek hey from matzah
and i'm just going to reverse the word
the letters but it's the same letters
it's memz
so it's the same letters except the
difference is the hay and the
and anybody knows hebrew you look at the
letters what's the difference between a
heineket almost nothing
if you're half blind you won't even be
able to tell the difference because it's
a little
sliver of of ink right that you can
so hummus fermenting which ruins at
least on pesach it ruins the food
obviously all year round
it makes whatever we're going to eating
uh more delicious
but it's it's um symbolic of arrogance
and sin
at least during pesach that's how we
look at because it bloats
it's it's like the ego
so the idea is that if you don't seize
the moment because what is matsumata is
constantly
worked it's a um it's an opportunity
right to constantly work on something
with resource with passion
right if you leave it ferment then it
gets spoiled meaning you can't eat it
so too when it comes to doing mitzvahs
here in this case it's actually a
mitzvah
then we'll see it it's we're going to
see it soon it's a mitzvah to receive
and to work on yourself so here the idea
is
to be careful about i'm sorry um
you undertake to do whatever those
charged with teaching the torah will
instruct you to do from that day onward
his hair uh yes
and be careful about whatever now this
is a phrase from tanakh
but it doesn't matter it's a very famous
statement about the banega
the the the tribe of
of yasaka yosaka they made a pact
with zvulen they're the ones who learn
the torah and zbulin are the merchants
who support those who learn torah how do
we remember that
scar they're the ones that really
receive the main reward
you suck are the ones who are learning
torah and they were called
the men with understanding of the times
because they really
through the torah they were able to
understand
the cosmos the universe
when different times okay
and they will warn the person to avoid
turn the page to the right place and
on page 157
so the truth that you've done should
have hopefully will have an immediate
effect
effect on the person and the person will
be actually
transformed into ish a different person
and the truth is it's very interesting
that
the christian religion has stole one of
the important
statements that we make ourselves and we
shy away from it and i i think it's a
mistake
but i understand why we shy away from it
because it sounds so christian
and we do everything to avoid a sounding
christian of course because we're not
but the idea of born again right at
tinukshanola dummy someone who converts
to judaism
all his sins all their sins are forgiven
they're like a brand new baby
so too someone who does chuva we say
that um when someone gets married
when someone gets elevated in positions
there's a different things that happen
even when you're embarrassed in public
right your blood
right we call it murder if you embarrass
somebody but really what happens is the
person also comes back to life
it's like they're being born again they
have a new opportunity this idea of
being born again
every single morning we wake up we thank
hashem for returning our soul
we really have an opportunity in fact
i'll give you
the it says you have to wash your hands
first thing in the morning
and one of the reasons why there's
several reasons i'm not going to go into
them now but one of them is called we're
called abriyah khadasya
what's a bria khadasha a brand new being
like
just born today so this idea
is not foreign to judaism but
unfortunately it has become
perversed and misunderstood
okay i'm so glad i got that off my chest
here we go
that's the last thing we read that the
person is transformed into a
new being a different being league
hear this as soon as the person accepts
in
the mind alone in the in the thought now
the the question is where's the heart
right the lathe is the lathe in the
heart or is it down here
or is it in the mind the truth is since
covet came out now we know another
anatomy
right if nobody knew this the heart
pumps
the blood and it goes into the brain and
unfortunately many people who've
experienced some of the
uh side effects some of the symptoms of
kovid
there's a lot of things to do with the
heart and the circulation and blood
clots and this that and the other thing
i'm not going to go into it i'm not a
doctor but just keep in mind
that we talk about the heart right being
the seat
of understanding truth is it is
because it pumps the blood to here and
the seed of understanding
okay we could have maybe a difference
between the procedure and the lid fox it
doesn't matter
we talk about the heart it's it's here
as well as
here so he says as soon as you accept it
in your
thought alone at the moment
in which you undertake within your own
mind to re
to resolve within your heart to do what
khan and lenovo's
you already acquired within your soul
the merit and the reward
for whatever misses you resolved to do
as well as
right the admonishments that the person
you committed to change right it's
unbelievable because we're going to
see proofs for this that as soon as you
decide
that's it i'm going to change you're
already a changed person
it's an amazing thing right
the ashrae uh siddhak binafsha
bishoka fortune is he right happy is he
praiseworthy is he who has made his soul
virtuous in just
a moment you didn't even do anything yet
meaning physically you didn't get tested
you didn't have to re-experience that
that moment or that test all you did was
made a commitment a resolve
of resolution and already you get reward
as if you actually did it and we're
going to see shortly
the greatest secret of all time
in judaism
everybody knows when god offered us the
torah right
all the nations said knew what's in it
right
the jewish people said vanessa what is
nasa we will do
and we will learn we will try to
understand whatever it is but we're
willing to do it even without
understanding
that acceptance god says who taught
these
who taught these lowlifes who taught
these people my secrets
this is the greatest secret this is a
real commitment this is real faith this
is real
judaism right now he's going to go
through the proof
we have in chazal and go to exodus
chapter 12
verse 28
the yelchu the yasubine israel
now this verse is clear if you go to the
beginning of chapter 12.
it's talking about rosh chodesh this is
either the day before rosh chodesh or
rosh itself
god is showing moshe what a new moon is
going to look like okay
and what's going to happen that on the
10th of the month then you're going to
take your pesach offering and you're
going to bring it into the house you're
going to examine it
on the the afternoon the 15th right the
14th you're going to
slaughter it the night of the 15th
you're going to eat it and god's going
to do all these miracles you're going to
leave egypt
but in if you go through
i said verse 28 go through 1 through 28
and that is like all in preparation
for that moment 29 onward
verse 29 onward is where they actually
do
and god performs so up until 28
it's all about what's to what you need
to do and yet in verse 28 it says so the
children of israel went
and did i mean they went and did
as the lord commanded moses so they did
rashi says right there
now did they already do it how could
that verse
state they did it wasn't this all said
to them on rosh kodesh
14 days prior but since they accepted
upon themselves to do it
scripture credits them as if they had
already done it
it's amazing and that's the proof that
when you commit to
doing something it's as if you already
did it
i know it sounds well that's the easy
way no we're talking about a real
result a real commitment to change
to becoming a better person this is the
power
that we have as human beings
okay so we read the verse the yell clue
of yahushua
israel it's past tense the children of
israel went
and did as hashem commanded moses aaron
which seems to indicate in that verse
that they brought the pace of
pesach offering immediately upon hearing
the commandment
the question the the review asked
did they actually do it immediately
hello
on arba also the hardest of course they
didn't do it they didn't do it until the
14th of the month
ella cave on shekel assault however
as soon at the moment they accept it
upon them
themselves to do it
this is a famous concept as if the verse
is placed upon you meaning as if you
fulfilled the verse
this is the torah right it's great when
you know that you fulfilled
what the torah is telling you to do and
they did it even before they did it
meaning as soon as they committed to
doing it it's as if they did it
the torah considers it as if they
immediately did
what they had been commanded to do
we see from here that when a person
sincerely resolves to do something good
he's immediately credited as if the
person had already done
that thing i just want to read the
comment here say
on rosh this these verses up until and
including 28
the jewish people simply undertook to
faithfully
observe hashem's commandment regarding
the pacing pesach offering in his proper
time
the torah nevertheless writes they went
and did
to teach that hashem considered it as
though they had already fulfilled the
mitzvah
on account of their sincere resolve to
do so
now i want to mention that i do work
with converts
and this past week i won't mention his
name
but one of my students i've been
learning with for the last year and a
half
we went to based in the base then for
the sake of conversion this was his last
meeting with them
for the final part of the conversion and
he was accepted
they welcomed him and said welcome to
the jewish people but
before that they asked him a lot of
questions why do you want to convert
and you know even though they asked him
at the beginning of the process
and they asked them a lot of hallucke
questions to see if he's fulfilling
what he says and if he's doing it right
but what they asked him was right before
they said okay welcome to the jewish
people
they said are you willing to accept upon
yourselves
all that's written in the torah
he said yes i mean it's one of those
moments you feel like crying
we're talking about a newborn baby right
tino
shanola dummy a brand new person
and of course he says she's my out in
front of everybody but
the question they asked are you willing
to are you willing to take upon yourself
everything's written in the torah and
all the men hugging all this what the
sages have said
and the person said yes and what offend
he just accepted upon himself
also by the way when a no hide well we
don't have this
in in its truest sense uh becomes the
girth of
bizrat hashem when the majority of the
jewish people will be living in the land
of israel which will happen very soon
israel hashem so then we will have a
bona fide
100 percent gertoshav and
they go it means a non-jew goes in front
of a
bastion and accepts upon themselves
publicly
they will fulfill the the seven mitzvahs
of
noah and that's also in very much the
same way they're
they're coming from a place of of course
they're obligated
but there's a new sense of obligation
taking it upon themselves publicly
it's a it's a much higher level and
therefore they can live amongst
jews in israel and be and be
um what's the word socially accepted
not as jews per se but at least in
society
as you know citizens citizens
um of the of the of the of the country
anyway bizrat hashem we should see that
day happen very soon
okay now we're on uh page 159
okay it says in
aldo's de rebinasa what does it say over
there it says
so anybody's whose deeds are greater
than their wisdom the wisdom will endure
think about it as that right if the
person's wisdom is more than their deeds
so that wisdom will not endure so
it's oh it's really i it's all deeds
matter
i don't know if you heard that
expression i didn't make it up but it
makes sense right
it's a very jewish concept all deeds
matter
okay so if you have lots of deeds
meaning good acts kind acts working on
yourself doing mitzvahs
so then your wisdom that you've acquired
will endure
and how do we know from that first we
spoke before
nasa venisma did i mention where it was
okay
so let's look at it it's in exodus 24
verse 7.
and he took the book of the covenant to
read it it's talking about moses
within the hearing of the people and
they said all that the lord
spoke we will do and we will hear
meaning
doing and nishma we will
we will hear we will then learn about so
they're willing to do it
the deeds come first okay the
this is the greatest secret the deeds
come first
now this teaching is difficult to
understand why because
it doesn't make sense right most people
would say like the said
well tell us what's in it and then we'll
do it you know no
we said we don't care what's in it tell
us tell us what it is we'll do it
and then we'll understand it later we'll
study it
so this teaching is difficult to
understand for a person can act
only in accordance with what he already
knows and is therefore
seemingly impossible for one's deeds to
be greater than his wisdom
but no this the secret of judaism is the
other way around
so beyond the way to explain the matter
is like this
that the person who sincerely accepts
upon themselves to observe whatever is
in the torah
whatever the later the torah scholars
will teach us
and to act in accordance with the law
whatever the judges will tell you
to to do yes
the person has already received in their
hands
all the reward that will eventually be
accumulated
from all those misses you already get it
now
allah aznow medivh
both for the words of tory already heard
and understood and already observing the
allah divided
and for all the things you have not yet
heard for all those matters which you've
not yet learned about
fedex you've clothed
yourself in righteousness
the kanazhut you have received you've
acquired
the merit for that which was already
revealed to you
that i'll call him and all that which is
still hidden from you
you have received this is a very deep
metaphysical concept
the akh result right after this
vid but what you're going to do is every
single day
seek more and more wisdom seek rebuke
rebuke means that someone will correct
you right
after having made this commitment he the
person shall each and every day
seek out and harry to the doors which is
symbolic of going to the big midrash
going and hanging out with righteous
people and they can offer you
corrections that's what re rebuke is
the yasku nikolodov and to gain wisdom
from all
of your teachers
okay
and this is the riddle this is the
solution to the riddle
right because we said how could it be
that someone's actions are greater than
their wisdom
so since one with a sincere resolve to
do something good
is credited as if the person already
done it
it comes out that the deeds remember
because it's as if you already did it
the deeds there for greater than your
wisdom because you still don't know a
whole lot
you've only committed yourself to
whatever it is needs to be done you've
resolved resolved in your heart to do it
and therefore its credit is if you did
it therefore your deeds are greater than
your wisdom
isn't that it resolves a lot of issues
you're still unaware of many things
nevertheless the reward is already
given to you as if you already fulfilled
it
masha amrit israel and this is exactly
what the jewish people said it's
inaudible
by the way i don't want to go off on the
tangent but just keep in mind the word
is similar to what asui are doing
and yeshima nishma is from listening
in a deep kabbalistic sense there's only
you know these two other nations
represent all the other 70 nations
and that's christianity and islam so the
word
is from like asaf asav is the progenitor
of
rome of the christian religion and
yeshua
is the progenitor the the founder so to
speak
of of islam we do both
right each one of these religions with
the depth of it
i'm not going to go into it now keep
only one aspect
some do some listen right but we that's
what the
judaism represents is the concept of
both integrated on the deepest level
of nasa then ishmael
um okay i'm just as an example so the
the muslims keep a lunar calendar the
christians keep a solar calendar
we the jewish people have a loony solar
calendar meaning we keep both just an
example of
the depth of what we're discussing here
what's happening here we say nasa nishma
we will do and we will listen we're
accepting upon
ourselves to do whatever hashem
commanded us to do before actually
hearing
what that would entail so the sages cite
this verse in their teaching to indicate
this is the idea of one's deeds are
greater than their wisdom
necessarily it has to be this refers to
someone who made a similar commitment
like the jewish people did at mount
sinai this is wisdom
for the world
uh another idea
for otherwise for otherwise
it has to be otherwise right it would be
impossible
for someone's deeds to be greater than
his wisdom if this
is so clear it should help resolve so
many
questions if anybody had them how could
it be that the jews said not
ishmael right what are they stupid what
are they backwards primitive
uneducated no the opposite this is the
secret
of loyalty to hashem and getting the
most out of it at the same time
okay now we're going to go to paragraph
11.
and and this is
unfortunately people who don't take
criticism well
for one who is not aroused right yet oh
rare
awakened someone who's not awakened to
the voice
to the message of those who give rebuke
yakapel avono he will reach
a double punishment a double sin
his sin is double because he ruehu
what ended up happening was it was like
you harden your heart
now we already saw that we have to what
circumcise our heart
so hardening your heart we're going to
say is the opposite of
circumcising okay you're um
you were warned about your
transgressions
and you had a perfect opportunity to do
truva
but instead what did you do your heart
in your heart and you were not careful
to heed the words of this rebuke
like it says now we're going to uh
proverbs chapter 17
now we're going to focus on verse 10 and
11.
11 is going to come up again but verse
says the humility caused by the rebuke
of an understanding person
is more effective than 100 blows to a
fool
right a fool will constantly you know
fall
fool will fall many times and never
learn his lesson
right but a wise person hopefully can
even learn from other people
and never have to experience or if they
experience the downfall
hopefully they learn the lesson and
didn't have to fall again
so the humility caused by the rebuke of
an understanding person
is more effective than a hundred blows
whether it's
lashes or as we're going to see what
does it mean that hashem
is trying to wake the person up you can
wake you know if you're a fool
you you can hear a million times you
don't get it right
now verse 11 says he who is only
rebellious seeks evil
and a cruel angel shall be sent against
him
okay we're not going to focus on this
verse right now but this cruel angel
what is that okay we'll talk we'll
discuss it shortly
what is these what do these verses mean
so in the beginning right the the um the
evil person
is not going to be humbled by the voice
of the one giving him rebuke
ah but he's actually going to seek to
rebel
right sometimes they even act worse
after you
right there's an idea of the you know
someone does something bashog means
inadvertently they're lacking
information
and then there's people that rebuild
knowingly okay
so sometimes we have to weigh out should
we be the person
are they going to listen uh to the
rebuke because right now they're doing
it inadvertently
which is obviously less of a sin if you
sin
inadvertently it's uh it's still a sin
but the punishment the severity of
whatever consequence is going to come
down the pike are
so much less than if someone did it with
full knowledge and knowingly
and willingly right so
we're talking about someone who wants to
rebel right they're not interested in
not being humbled by the voice of of
rebuke and they're interested
in or they seek out rebellious more
being more rebellious
remember verse 11 we talk about an angel
a cruel angel shall be sent against the
person
listen to this since he was not filled
with fear
on account of the words of hashem's
messenger of rebuke
now who's the messenger at the time it
could be the sage it could be the friend
it could be the parent
whoever cares and is giving rebuke but
he's not listening to that
angel meaning so the word malach
doesn't always mean angel it could be
messenger
why did they change it they translate
his angel here
i'm not so sure it means angel but we'll
talk about it shortly
at least a messenger
you senter will be
unleashed against him by hashem me the
connection meet a measure for
measure
because the one giving rebuke is called
malach again a messenger or an angel
we'll see it doesn't really matter at
this point it could be either one
meaning the person giving the rebuke is
going to be a messenger
but sometimes we don't pick it up and
then hashem sends his
angels they're also giving rebuke right
that through the
tragedies through the trials through the
tribulations
that's god's message measure for measure
speaking to you
we can pick that up too that's also
through the malachim
through the angels however you want to
look at it
i'll just read the comment here the word
malach sometimes means angel
but it can also mean messengers and you
can see that in
in the rashi on numbers and numbers
chapter 20 verse 16.
i'll just read the the words we cried
out to the lord
and he heard our voice he sent an angel
and he took us out of egypt
and now we're in kadesh a city on the
edge of your border
which angel who took us out of egypt
moshe
moshe was god's faithful messenger
rashi says what does it mean an angel
this refers to moses
from here we derive the prophets are
called angels
prophets are called angels they're
messengers and and
and malach and whether it's the
spiritual energy that we call angels
they're messengers of god or human
prophets they're messengers
of god
i want to go back to one other idea that
i kind of skipped
and back into the verse itself
where we say that uh rebuke penetrates
the heart
of a man of understanding more than the
hitting of a fool a hundred times
so robinione explains what does it mean
a man of understanding
that's one who has the ability to
understand
and also wants to understand sometimes
you can have the ability but you don't
want to understand sometimes you don't
have the ability
but you do want to understand so
hopefully we're talking about someone
who is both but you can always pray
if you want to understand that alone
hashem will support you and give you
understanding
um i spoke about this recently about
like king solomon
king solomon what did he pray for
another to be understanding
and he would be able to judge correctly
and then god gave him everything
he you know what abilities do you want
god asked him and he wanted an
understanding heart
and through that he was granted
everything so just
ask for it right such a person
will be inspired by the rebuke to mend
their ways
whereas a fool can be motivated only by
extremely harsh punishment that would be
that would fit in
well with verse 11 oh he
oh he who is only rebellious seeks evil
and a cruel angel be sent against him
that would be
the extremely harsh punishment as
angels or energy that's used like that
okay so let's continue
ah
oh so here in in second
in second chronicles
in second chronicles chapter 36 verse 16
it says hashem god of the fathers had
addressed them through his
messengers but they only
insulted the messengers of god again
these are the prophets
and scorned his words and taunted his
prophets
until the wrath of hashem rose up
against his people
beyond remedy so this verse
describes the stubbornly sinful behavior
of the jewish people
in the verb in the years leading up to
the destruction of the first
temple okay let's continue
odd um king solomon
peace be upon him peace be upon him it's
further stated over there
this you'll find in michele in proverbs
chapter 15 verse 10. harsh
discipline will come to him who forsakes
the way
he who hates he who hates reproof shall
die
you see there's not good consequences
for those who shun
and push away the rebuke
okay so i i do have a comment on a
certain verse beforehand i just want to
bring it down
in deuteronomy chapter 10 verse 16
this you shall circumcise the foreskin
of
your heart therefore and be no more
stiff neck
this is a directive from the torah this
is why accepting rebuke
listening is so important right it's
like a command not like a command
and not everyone list this as one of the
613 commandments
because it's not something okay i just
do and therefore i fulfilled it
this is a constant this is a life
mission
right hopefully we're more there than
not there
but i just want to get that point across
okay so going back to
proverbs chapter 15 10. what does it
mean
stern discipline is for one who forsakes
the path
one who hates reproof will die
emmett moussa
the ivor al-divreitar the truth is
that stern discipline would call you
sareem is actually appropriate for one
who has forsaken the path
and transgresses the word of the torah
vias
but guess what there's still hope
there's still hope that you will be
chastised the person will be chastised
with certain stern discipline
and change their way that is the
positive the way to look at when
uh rebuke comes from hashem right this
harsh punishment so to speak that this
is
this is hope i know it sounds crazy
right this is hope ki ein lo tikvah
worse often this person however is one
who hates republic
rebuke because he has no hope and cannot
be fixed
with even stern discipline so take a
different attitude
renew reframe a different attitude when
either rebuke comes or hashem rebukes
through
you through angels through harsh
punishment of
achas but rather
for this evil person who hates rebuke he
will surely die
there's only one remedy and that is
death
because the one who commits a sin is
simply overpowered by desire and he's
deceived by his evil
the attack show more low
see who is this person
he's he's bitter inside right there's no
hope he's not
looking forward he's not optimistic he
doesn't have a relationship with hashem
that he wants to continue to grow with
and
create a palace for himself in the world
to come he's just not at all interested
in um in spirituality but he has totally
given over
uh his self to his yates and his evil
inclination
but it is possible he feels terrible
that he cannot muster the strength to
stand up to his yetzer haram
perhaps deep inside he even longs for
desire of reproof
and looks forward to being disciplined
but about sonia tokhaka kevor knows him
no ashman but perhaps he's already given
up all hope
right yoish is no hope he's given up
[Music]
perhaps he even has given all that up
and it's like he
hates repute he hates rebuke and he's
given up
any aspect of rectifying their soul
the cena
these are very strong words for
he his hate for repu rebuke is actually
a testament to the fact
that he despises the word of hashem
my truth is i do have two comments here
that i noticed that i wanted to share
so previously rabboni rabbiniona spoke
about a person who refuses to listen
to rebuke from other people such a
person might still do chuba when he's
visited by divine rebuke
in the form of the surim in the form of
of
pains and troubles here by contrast
romani ona speaks about a person
who not only hates rebuke from other
people he actually hates divine rebuke
there's no hope for such a person now
the last comment he makes is that at
times a person truly wants to do
what is right but nevertheless he finds
it too difficult
to overcome as yet sorrow however with
some
external stimulus either in the form of
rebuke from a torah scholar or in the
form of
external pains and trials
the person might be able to prevail so
hashem is doing
hashem is doing a kindness by sending
you a wake-up call
a sinner who truly wishes to change his
way might eagerly await
the boost of reproof that god can
provide for him
okay so we're going to end there um i i
it was a pretty heavy class obviously
these things need to be reviewed
constantly right this is not just a
one-off
teaching this is something that we
should live with
internalize and used to
hopefully reframe our attitude when
rebuke comes our way
because it would be a missed opportunity
that may never come again
seize the moment and uh pick yourself up
right
a sadiq falls seven times but he keeps
getting up
okay misrat hashem i wish everyone a
shiva
tov a great week and a great life and
they will see you as rather shem next
week
i'm gonna take questions now from the
zoom claw
and uh all the best culture
[Music]
