Finding Good vs. Finding Bitter: The Great Relationship Paradox
King Solomon (Shlomo) had 1,000 wives and wrote extensively about relationships. But his writings left behind a fascinating contradiction: 📖 In Proverbs , he says: "Whoso findeth a wife findeth a great good..." 📖 Yet in Ecclesiastes , he states: "And I find more bitter than death the woman..." How can finding a wife be both the ultimate good and more bitter than death? 🤔 The secret lies in a single word: "Ani" (The Self). When a marriage is focused on the divine, on giving, and on selflessness, it brings nothing but good. But when the ego (the false self) takes over, and it becomes about "me, myself, and I," conflicts turn ugly, and bitterness sets in. Every argument that tears a couple apart stems from that false self refusing to let go. The takeaway? To find true joy in a relationship, we have to look past our own egos. #jewishwisdom #jewishthought #jewishinspiration #kingsolomon #jewish #marriage #jewishmarriage #marriagetips #judaism #jewishlife #rabbi #shalombayit #hidabroot
