>> There's a lot of excitement and a lot of
buzz
about this new Woodmere garage. Our
number one goal is and always has been
to bring you [music] the best of best
medical care. And by building this new
facility, we'll be able to decrease
response time with increased number of
vehicles, increase [music] the level of
medical education with the facilities
that we have, and just really bring an
increase what we do in the community.
[music]
It's in Woodmere, but it's right next to
Cedarhurst, Lawrence, Old Woodmere, it's
next to Hewlett. It's really in the
center of the community. Having a
upgraded training center along with
simulation labs will take us to a new
level. Our EMTs and paramedics will now
be able to be trained in a dynamic
situation and be able to have hands-on
skills. This [music]
>> new facility will be able to store many
more buses. There's going to be [music]
a dedicated mechanic's bay. Anything
that needs to get fixed could get fixed
immediately, lowering the downtime that
[music] any ambulance would be out of
commission.
>> Today, where we have our regularly
scheduled community education classes
[music] take place, usually in the
Farrockaway garage, many times we need
to use other facilities because we've
really [music] outgrown the classroom
there. This new headquarters will allow
the members to get together
>> [music]
>> in one room, face-to-face with
instructors, with each other. The fact
that we are adding on a second dispatch
center in Woodmere, that will enable us
to add on many more dispatchers that
will ultimately be able to dispatch for
the whole central area. I think it
behooves us at this time
>> [music]
>> to thank our pioneer donors, families in
the community that really stepped up,
[music] made major dedication, major
investments in this facility. It was
through their help that we were able to
get [music] this project off the ground
and to where we are today.
On February 11th, 2022, my father
suffered from an anoxic cardiac arrest.
Hatzalah came and they were our angels
and they brought my father back to life.
[music] He got another 3 years. My
family, specifically my father, wanted
to make this dedication because we
wanted other people to have the same
opportunity we did when they're in such
a traumatic event or experience in their
lives. [music]
My father, he was a member in Borough
Park, and he
had bought a nursing home in the
Beach 9th Street. Back then, they didn't
have Hatzalah here. So, he started it
off here. His office in the nursing home
was like a 10 by 5, and everything was
running out of there at that point. He
was a member till the day he died. I
would like that his memory and his
legacy, [music]
there's no better place to honor him
than right in here. As new generations
[music] of members are coming in,
they're going to be taking calls, using
this place, there's no better place than
to see who [music] was behind it, and
his memory lives on, his legacy lives
on, and his kiss lives on.
>> [music]
>> I was in my ninth month of pregnancy
with our fifth baby, and I was going
into labor on Shabbos. We at first
called an Uber. It didn't feel like an
emergency situation to me at the time,
and Isaac actually wanted Hatzalah to
come. He felt like that would give him
the ultimate peace of mind and know that
we were in good hands.
Very quickly into the ride, as we're
passing Gotta Get A Bagel, it became
really obvious that the baby was coming
out right away. But in a second, it was
all business.
>> [screaming]
>> They delivered the baby in the ambulance
while we were driving, and because of
the type of labor that it was, the baby
did not come out crying. If not for
Hatzalah keeping her stable until we got
to the hospital and they were able to
take her and put her on a CPAP machine,
I think that the end of the story would
have been really different. And every
single time I see Zohara, it's this
beautiful baby that because of Hatzalah,
she's here with us. This exists every
single day in our community. Having an
organization like this, which is [music]
building a new building, to have
best-in-class simulators, best-in-class
training, so they could go and help save
[music] lives, is one of the greatest
privileges we could ever have in our
greater community. Every ambulance we
add, every inch we build, [music]
and every hour that we train, is a
promise to you, our community, [music]
that if there's a time in need of
Hatzalah, you will not face it alone.
And we ask from each and every one from
this community, in order for us to be
there [music] for you, we need you to be
there for us.
