I was done with Yeshiva at around 17
years old. They wanted to kick me out
probably around 15. There was a
farbrengen in 770. It's a story that I
tell my friends. [music] The Rosh
Yeshiva at the time, Rabbi Pekarsky,
wanted to throw me out. And this was
during a farbrengen that he had actually
thrown me [music] out of Yeshiva. And my
dear friend Hershy Minkowitz, Hershy got
up and he started challenging Pekarsky,
"How could you [music] throw Stern out
of Yeshiva?" And Rabbi Pekarsky said to
him, he says, "I have nobody that's
going to control him. I have nobody
that's [music] going to take
responsibility for him." And Hershy
said, "It's on me. I'll take care of
him. I'll learn with him. I'll do what I
have to do." So that bought me about
another, I don't know, six months, eight
months or so, but I'm forever indebted
[music] to having friends like that that
are willing to lay down for me and just,
you know, go to bat. And that really
helped me out.
