Welcome to the introductory episode of
the Hashem Loves You podcast.
I just want to outline what the
structure of this podcast is going to
be. The ideas that we're going to
discuss in this podcast. So there's
going to be four basic ideas, four core
ideas that we're going to be talking
about in this podcast. Number one, we're
going to be discussing about how Hashem
loves us both individually and
collectively. the love that has for each
one of us. That's the first idea. The
second idea we're going to be discussing
is how much Hashem cares about each and
every one of us. The third idea we're
going to be discussing is how much each
one of us matters to.
And the fourth idea we're going to be
discussing is obstacles that could get
in the way. Obstacles that could prevent
us from feeling that love, from feeling
how much we matter or how much
cares about each and every one of us.
I'm going to try to keep each episode
short, so it's not too much at once, but
bite-sized ideas discussing each one of
these four core ideas.
We're going to try to put out a new idea
each week. We will try our best. I just
want to give a general introduction to
what this podcast is going to be about.
So this podcast is really about
relationship, specifically our
relationship with Hashem. For a
relationship to thrive through thick and
thin, through the good times, and
through the more challenging times, it
must be built on love. It makes no
difference whether we're talking about a
relationship between a husband and a
wife, a relationship between a parent
and a child. It must be built on love.
It's not enough just to feel that you
love your spouse or your child, but they
must know and feel that you love them as
well. They must know with certainty that
they are loved, that you care about
them, and that they matter. Our
relationship with Hashem is no
different. If we want to have a great
relationship with Hashem, a relationship
that will last through the difficulties
we all experience, if we want a
relationship that can weather the storms
of the trials and tribulations in our
lives, if we want to love Hashem, we
need to know that he loves us. We need
to know that he loves us no matter what.
We need to know that he cares about us,
that we matter to him, no matter where
we're holding spiritually or physically
in our lives. Like any child or spouse,
we need to hear that idea again and
again and again. The first paragraph in
says,
"You shall love your God with all your
heart, with all your soul, with all of
your resources."
One of the mitzvah. One of the six
constant mitzvah that we are obligated
in is to love Hashem. How is it possible
to love Hashem to this degree with all
of our heart, with all of our soul, with
all of our resources? How is it possible
to always speak of this love that we
have for Hashem and to give it over to
our children? It's only possible if we
know in a real way that Hashem loves us.
We have to know that Hashem loves us
with every fiber of our being. We have
to be able to tell our children about
the love that Hashem has for us. We have
to be able to go to sleep at night or
travel the journey of life secure in the
knowledge that Hashem loves us, that he
cares for us and that we matter to him.
Knowing that Hashem loves us and cares
about us will help us get through the
dark and difficult times. Knowing that
Hashem loves us and believes in us, that
will inspire us become the best versions
of ourselves. Knowing that we matter to
Hashem will give us a sense of purpose.
Knowing that Hashem loves us will help
us do chuva. It's so much easier to come
back if we believe that Hashem wants us
to come back and that he loved us and
cared about us even as we had drifted
away. Knowing that Hashem loves us will
help us love him, love ourselves, love
life, and love our fellow Jews.
Believing in Hashem gives us the
capacity to envision change. Having a
relationship with Hashem gives us the
capacity to hope for that change.
