[Music] maybe you should take off just take up a moment and discuss what what what is maa's bread where does that come from what is this idea so bread in general all different kinds of bread and all different kinds of shapes and sizes we make we make over them doesn't matter whether it's bread whether it's Peta whether it's rolls uh you know chetes baguettes what whatever I can't think of all the different words that uh that all these things have but Lisa youve got to wash and you've got to uh you've got to um make amot over them you've got to binge there is something called hamo sorry there is something called maa's bread or maa's PT am maona rolls right because what's happened to them is they've added juice into the liquid to make it a little bit sweet right now for the ashkenazim it's a little less complicated for the Sim it's more complicated for the S it has to be very sweet in order to make Aon not over it for the ashkanam it's got to be just a little a little bit sweet is good enough um the inion over here is like this mazut bread is complicated Hally it's complicated because if you're going to sit down and you're going to have a meal so regardless of the fact that the bread or the pitot are maot you're supposed to be washing and making uh Amoy over it and you're supposed to be benching at the end of it as well so I give you a classic example when you get your meal on the plane the role that it comes with very often is a misot role especially if you've ordered the special kosher meals um so they bring you a mut roll that comes together with it and now what what are you supposed to do so you could say well it says mut right so I should just make a Maus and I'm done I'm finished I don't have to worry about it but you're sitting down over there you're eating a meal right it's being brought to you as part of your meal and uh I think for things like that you really need to get up and you need to wash and you need to make amoi over it because you're having a whole meal over there together with his maa's role so you can make hot over amazonus rooll yeah cuz the Honus sandwiches you buy from London always all all over all over London right in in the kosher shops you'll see the the vast majority of things that are being sold are Maus um regardless of whether they're wraps or whether they're sandwiches or P or whatever it is they're all coming in as Maz point being so what what's the point so again some people some people have the opinion that it's okay you know you can make a Maus over them and be done with them I personally again you know sandwiches are rather odd inventions because what is a sandwich a sandwich is a meal stuck inside a roll you know where sandwich has come from the ear swich the ear of swich there some called the ear of Sandwich who he was a an addicted Gambler and he didn't want to leave the gambling table so he once told his uh his servant to go and bring him two pieces of bread with some meat inside of it and hey Presto that's where sandwiches were invented the idea of being able to eat a meal in the worst time you know eat so sandwich is very often are things that are eaten on the go right you buy a sandwich and you just you're walking you're on your way to somewhere you're doing something however as far as ala is concerned ala doesn't differentiate between a sandwich and sitting down and having a meal which means that hierarchically if a person buys a sandwich made out of regular bread doesn't make any difference that you're planning on eating it on the go and it's just going to be like a stop Gap to get you to wherever you need to get to so you won't be too hungry you need to wash and you need to bench um somebody came up with this bright idea of m not roll s that were going to help people be able to eat a proper sandwich and you know again if you look at the array of what's what's available these things are they first of all they're truly delicious it's true but they are they really are meals inside of rolls that's what they are a whole meal is in there um and if that's the case I personally think that you should be washing and you should be benching over them and not reciting mazus over there but what about like a mazus pasta salad that's okay again P pasta is pasta is not bread it's the problem the problem rests here I'll give you another example you can use yeast the same the same dough that you would make real bread with you can also make yeast cake with now yeast cake does not require you to wash your hands and to make a hamo over it because yeast cake is sweet right it's got it things added in but it's exactly the same dough right but you've added in sugar and you've added in Cocoa you've added in cinnamon whatever you put into your yeast cake that's what's in there it's no no longer has a din of being bread right so having a pasta salad is definitely not a problem having any any kind of mazus is not a problem so even if it's a meal even if it's a meal right you're sitting down and you're Mak yourself you know like a a delicious pasta meal or couscous or whatever it is when does pasta begin to resemble bread only only when it's turned into bread so when you're not pasta you're not going to have you're not going to have you're not going to have pasta bread right bread welli C though Yi cou is made out of it's made out of uh loction it's made out of spaghetti that you then give the bread treatment of put it in the oven although it does it rise it'si cou like it it's Yami cougal is this bizarre concoction which is really Absolut it's quite delicious actually it's delicious when you're not in the a it's an acquired taste but it's it's made out of noodles it's like well it's like a loction coule but it's got lots of pepper in it and caramel as well and it's got a rather it's got a rather strange it's a rather strange combination of sweet and pepper at the same time and it's normally served with a pickle um that's a standard it's a stand is it Savory it is Savory yeah it's definitely it's a it's a standard at a you know kushim over here in had it before it's all you you know you have had it just it's brown and it comes in wedg likee shapes like like a piece of cake I think if you'd have had it I think you'd have known that you'd had it I really do you shi kogle is something which was created with whatever there was so you know Jerusalem they went through periods where there was real real deprivation and uh you know noodles are very cheap and uh black black pepper was available and caramel was something which was pretty you know it's got a very very strong you don't need a lot of it to give a strong taste to something and that's how they they baked this concoction in order to have something warm and filling to eat on chabas anyway my mother Al sh uh she should rest in peace but my mother was was uh I about the only the only thing that she ever got upset about was maa's bread she she was a you know she she was a very uh a very a very gentle lady and um a very Gentile lady as well but uh maa's bread used to drive her nuts she used to tell us you know if you want to you want to sit down and you want to eat and you want bread wash and bench and if you don't don't eat bread but don't come here with M's bread and think you're going to be able to get away with that so as kids we had to you know smuggle the stuff in to uh Pally it's it's okay to not it's okay yeah I mean again you're you're running into a gray area over here Hally maa's bread is something which exists and it's something which is real and the idea of making mazus over something which looks like bread and tastes like bread is okay the question over here is what am I what am I doing with regards to my meal am it's called again in Al it's called being COA suda K suda means you're sitting down to have a meal right and uh whatever I I I I truly believe actually that uh you know this Maus business is uh something that we should be I I don't think I think we should be more careful about it I really do actually but so don't don't ask me what to [Music] do
