patrol of the police department.
Obviously, we have a lot of support, you
know, in this community. We understand
that. We appreciate that. Um, you know,
that that sort of goes without saying. I
think that, you know, the when it comes
to, you know, CIS and and you know, he's
the commanding officer of CPG, which is
essentially the crime scene for
Investigation Squad. Um, you know, the
work that that they do on a daily basis.
I think one of the things that makes it
so different, and correct me if I'm
wrong, Eric, of course, but um the
victims of traffic violence as we call
it, or collisions and so forth, they're
your everyday people, you know, they're
not perpetrators who get shot. They're
not people that maybe shouldn't be where
they're at and they're up to kind of
something that they shouldn't be doing
and something happens. You know, these
are people from every walk of life. uh
and it's so easy to relate to them uh as
as your brothers and sisters and aunts
and uncles and friends and co-workers
and so forth. uh you know again no
matter what you know religion,
ethnicity, what neighborhood we're in,
you can look at it and someone's going
to work, someone is returning from work,
someone and so I think that and and the
work that the collision investigation
squad does just across the city uh with
the help of CTG with the help of the
initial highway patrol response and
prioritizing you know the the response
and all of that um it really it's
impressive the amount of work they do
and I think that you know one of the
motivating factors news is it's so easy
to look at so many of these individuals
involved in these and sometimes that
goes for the operator of the motor
vehicle as well you know in certain
situations where you go you know there
before the grace of God go I somebody
comes out in the street or it's you know
it's a rainy dark night and you know
sometimes these things are you know we
don't use the word accident too often we
tend to use collision but you know some
of these things are you know unavoidable
to a degree in it.
