Welcome to this week's Torah lesson.
This week's Torah portion is Parshas
Devorim. The question of the week is,
what is the path to redeem us from
exile? So, in this week's Torah portion,
Parshas Devorim, we also have the
Haftorah, where it says, "Tzion u
Mishpat Tipodehha v'Shaveha b'Tzedakah."
That Zion will redeemed with Mishpat and
its captives through charity. So, the
question is, what is Zion and what is
its captives? So, the Rebbe explains and
he says, "What is Zion?" Referring to
the godly soul. And the godly soul is in
exile. Shaveha is its captives,
referring to our physical body, our
thoughts, speech, and action. But, each
one requires a different type of
redemption.
Tzion, which is referring to the godly
soul, the godly soul is connected to
God, but still in exile. The way to
redeem it is by learning Torah. Torah
brings a light in and takes the godly
soul out of galus.
On the other hand, our thoughts, speech,
and action, that's literally being held
captive, our body's being held captive,
that is through charity. Cuz charity has
the power to elevate. So, the answer to
the question, how do we take ourselves
out of galus? There's two parts of us
that are in exile. There's the godly
soul, which is one method by learning
Torah, and then there's the the physical
body, our thoughts, speech, and action,
and that gets elevated through going
ahead and doing charity. Thanks so much
for joining us for our weekly Torah
lesson. This week's Torah lesson is
dedicated to the memory of Baruch
Mordechai Levi Yosef
ben
my father
ben
Hertz. May their souls be elevated by
the Torah we're studying in their
memory. For more information, please see

and blessed week. Shabbat Shalom.
