So the question here is what have we
learned from history? And the answer is
nothing.
But uh there are patterns in Jewish
history and Jewish life
that recur often and I'd like to speak
about those patterns
and uh I think we can identify with many
of them. The first uh topic has to do
with acculturation and assimilation.
The Jewish people having been in every
culture and place in the world
uh subject to all of the influences of
all of the different civilizations
naturally have become acculturated in
every place that they exist.
They take on the trappings of the
culture no matter how isolated they wish
to be.
But uh it is almost impossible not to
become acculturated.
So we become acculturated in dress.
Uh much of the uh Karedi world today uh
dresses
according to the culture
of uh the Polish nobleman.
