okay i want to start with a story which
you guys probably have heard before i'm
sure you've heard the story in some way
shape or form and it goes like this
the story is told about a rabbi by the
name of herbie akiva you've heard of
rabbi akiba before
you hope so
you guys has anyone not heard of him
before
have you ever heard of him before right
you may have you might notice in a
minute maybe akiva was one of the one of
the greatest sages that we ever had
one of
one of the greatest sages that ever
lived
and the story goes at thereby kiva that
until the age of 40 years old
he didn't learn
a word of torah
didn't learn torah until the age of 40
years old
got that
not only did he not learn torah he was
actually against the idea of torah
not just against idiozora he hated torah
now in particular it doesn't mention
necessarily torah but it says he hated
it
you know what that means
you've heard that before
loosely translates as like a great sage
like the sages right the sages the word
itself talmid means a student
means a wise person a y student even our
greatest sages are called students right
because it is we're always learning
we're always growing we're always
getting doesn't make a difference where
you are where you're on your life
there's always what to learn so rabbi
akiva says the talmud he hated tamim you
know how much he hated them he hated him
so much he wanted to bite them
that's what the talmud says in
sacramento 26 what'd you say
did you say vicious i was hoping you did
did you say vicious
did you i was hoping you did okay that
says what that it was actually quite
vicious because it goes into detail you
know what kind of bite he wanted to bite
them he wanted to bite them the bite of
a donkey
not just bite them bite them the bite of
a donkey
and the question is what in the world is
going on here right number one when do
you ever hear a description of someone
saying you know dude i hate you so much
i want to bite you right even that maybe
you hear other people say like i hate
you and the guy goes bite me yeah maybe
that's where the expression comes from
right but it goes details don't want to
bite you the bite of a donkey what does
that mean and it explains like this
because the bite of a donkey is opposed
to the bite of a dog
when it bites it doesn't just bite
through the flesh
but it even bites through the bone
and it holds on tight bites through the
bone holds on tight pretty intense you
get it this is his feelings that he had
towards him
okay there's a lot of weak things we can
learn from this i'm not going to tell
you everything but there's a thing i
want to focus on is that then what
happens is one day he's walking down the
road
and he's walking down the road and he
sees
that there's
a little stream and on the side of the
stream there's a rock and notices that
in that rock there's a hole going
through the rock you guys know the story
anyone know the story
he sees a hole going through the rock
coming out of where
close
and the water is there's a stream right
next to the rock and a little drop has
been right a little little part of the
stream was coming off the site and it
was dripping on this rock
dripping on the rock dripping on the
rock dripping on the rock tripping on
the rock
and he started to go out and he's
looking he's looking at this rock and
he's like how did a hole get straight
through a rock
i want to i want to share with you
something just educationally
that i think is incredible
difference of how people are brought up
how they're raised i'm trying to raise
my kids hopefully
to a you know high standard in
connection with judaism i'm hopefully
trying to raise them in such a way
and i don't want to god forbid this on
my parents i want you to misunderstand
my parents also thank god raised me i
they attempted to raise me properly it
was if anything went off it was me right
ideas what did they attend they tried
but the difference of education there
was a snowstorm here a couple weeks ago
you guys know about it heard about the
snowstorm you weren't here right
snowstorm which cost me a couple of ribs
actually because i was carrying my
daughter
and on the way to the dentist i slipped
i was holding my two-year-old
that's like a nightmare you know
assuming you like your kid
and and i slipped and her leg was over
here and i fell
first on my knee and then straight onto
my back but onto her on her leg
the two-year-old's right on her leg
now when that happened i was like oh no
right 200 pounds
of muscle
you know what i'm saying and then
another 200 pounds of fat on that
that just fell on my daughter's leg i'm
like oh no she starts screaming but
forget her god but i was like i was like
you know like straight up i would say
it's like straight out of the movies but
it's also straight out of real life you
know someone falls like uh
you know this hasidic kid comes over
he's like
oh i'm like my wife he's like false
i was like forget it just help me up you
know and he asked me i'm thinking my
daughter's leg was straight it wasn't
bent at all so just i just nothing she
was fine she was walking but she broke
like three or four of my ribs right over
here which is it still kills this was
only a couple weeks ago now there's
nothing really to do for broken ribs but
not break them again yeah
so the idea is that there was a
snowstorm
and outside my house
there was a outside my house there was
uh that was leading up to my steps the
snow had piled up right and i even went
on my roof because i was scared that was
gonna like i don't want to collapse
people's roofs were like getting ruined
so i went on my roof and i was throwing
snow off the roof and then i jumped it
was awesome i jumped off the roof i
missed whatever but uh but i but i
jumped i actually made it this time and
but there was this massive pile of snow
i come home one day a couple days after
the snowstorm there's snow everywhere
because israel's not exactly equipped
for snow yeah we're the most
technologically advanced country in the
world not the most but very
technologically advanced so much stuff
comes out of israel but they cannot deal
with any elements right which means
water forget about it rain
snow we just can't handle it it was for
weeks literally uh this past week two
days ago they removed the fallen trees
from three weeks ago yeah
so in certain areas
outside of my house as the snow was
melting i was walking up one day to my
steps and i saw right in front of my
door that there was a hole
going through the snow
like there was walking up and everything
was snow but there was one hole about
this about this wide
the radius you know like this and and it
wasn't like perfect there was like a
couple of holes like around each other
and i was like oh my kids probably it
went down like two feet you know the
kids probably like like stab something
in it
but then i noticed
that on my roof there was some snow and
it was melting
so there was a drip of water
that was just dripping after drip after
drip after drip
and it made a hole in the water in the
snow so i called my kids i said hey kids
look at this look at the snow
so my oldest says what i said look look
at the look at the you see there's a
hole here so she goes yeah i'm like well
what is that like she was like grab me
akiva
what would we say yeah
we grew up with like hey look that guy's
getting mugged right
he's like oh it's pedro we're saying
here it's like oh look there's a thing
in the snow oh it should be a kiva it's
like a different mentality it's a
different mentality instead it's crazy
so this is what happens you find this
hole in the rock and he looks at it and
he's like wow
he's like
there's a hole in this rock
how did that happen
and he realized it must be
from the water that was dripping right
through the hole through the center
over however much time
over and over and over and over and over
again it made a hole in the rock and he
says
if water
which is so soft
could make a hole through a rock
which is so hard
then certainly torah
which he has heard was compared to fire
could make a hole through his heart
which is so soft does everybody get that
if water sorry is so soft could make a
hole in a rock which is so hard and
torah which is fire can make a hole in
my heart which is so soft
he went on to study in yeshiva
and he ended up staying there for 24
years and he came back after with 24 000
students and became one of the greatest
sages that ever lived so great that even
moshe abbey knew moses
who lives way before him god brought him
into the future to see him and moshe
asked why are you having me bring out
the jewish people get that guy to bring
out the jewish people he was very he got
you know the the stamp of approval from
moses himself you're saying this is like
and even from god yeah so we're talking
about this are pretty wild
pretty impressive
now let me ask you a question
the point of this story is meant to be
inspirational
the concept is that you can be 40 years
old and not have word learned a word of
torah
yet you can become one of the greatest
of the greats
right how many people they go ahead and
they want to be something in their life
but they figure it's too late it's too
late you understand people you want to
be the best piano player you got to
start when you're like four you know
what i mean you want to be the best
guitar you want to be the best swimmer
you want to be the best music you want
to be the best artist one of the best
whatever it is gotta start young very
few people start young what you got uh
what do he do to be considered one of
the greatest agents well just in terms
of studying he studied and studied he
grew and he grew and he grew and he
raised himself to a level where he
became one of the greatest rappers
everyone started now they went to him
for everything he learned and he would
expound on the deepest secrets of the
torah in a way that no one could do
beforehand i would talk mighty reach the
levels of levels more details stick in
yeshiva for a little bit and maybe
you'll find out
abe akiva
so now
here's my question
does everybody hear the concept of the
of the
inspiration that's trying to be shown
here do you hear it i don't care if
you're inspired or not do you understand
the point that there's a concept of
being inspired
that at 40 years old you can begin
and at 64 then become one of the
greatest as opposed to just some little
kid who started when they're very young
and then they became great you get
what's going on here inspirational
unbelievable so i got a couple questions
question number one
how come this is not going to be a
keeper since we're akiva
let me ask you differently
we're waiting
how many rabbi akivas would you expect
there to be
what i mean by that is the following i
don't mean to say like
literally rebecca i mean people to raise
yourself up to a level
and to to elevate yourself and to do
better and to do more and to be hired
how many how many would you expect there
to be after hearing such an
inspirational story how many
many does that make sense how many you
hear the question
how many
a lot
how many would you think
many what do you say
what
five okay everyone everyone everyone who
heard the story should like okay that's
uh interesting i never thought about it
but everyone who ever heard the story
should be doing this it's like every
movie you go to you know when you go to
a movie you come into that movie you
could always tell what movie somebody
saw when they walk out right
when they walk out of the movie some you
know if someone walks out like this you
know they're like
they're looking for trouble yeah they
just watch pocahontas right
no but probably karate kid you said what
i'm saying everyone some of them walk
out there like this like
i believe i can fly right everyone seems
to be michael jordan you're watching the
basketball movie everybody wants to play
basketball you watch you know um the
bourne uh
boring supremacy right or whatever it is
you walk out like this you just walk
around like this is what you do
right and your wife is like i'm right
here you know what what are you doing
yeah
we act out these things we get inspired
don't we
we see things we get inspired by them we
want to be them it doesn't matter what
it is
it could be the most boring thing
where's bobby fischer anybody saw the
movie i don't know who that was
very famous chess player you might not
know how to play chess for the life of
you you walk out of that movie you're
like i love chess
i'm going to be the best chess player
ever usually down for a minute like the
heck is a pawn forget it yeah and he's
done understand but we want to be these
things we're inspired by them we see
rabbi akiva every one of us if you've
been paying attention this guy's 40 he
hated this idea but then he became one
of the greatest of them unbelievable
how did he do it how did he come to do
that now before the how is why is no one
else like that and when i say no one
else is not true i would expect it to be
any every single person in theory why is
it not like that though
very few now i don't want to say that
there's none there are over the
generations i don't want to say names
but there are there are rabbis that have
come from very little and they've raised
themselves up to be very high right
they're those who grew up in very
religious and state religious those who
grew up very secular they came he said
they raised himself up to crazy levels
but how come we're not like that so you
might say because i didn't hear the
story yet but now i hit it yeah now i'll
be it how can we have so few
so i think the answer wise and what did
rabby akiva see
what did rabbi kiva see
that raised him up to be who he was it's
like you hear stories of rabbis all the
time you know they learn lessons from
everything yeah rabbit what'd you think
about that doorknob i learned a big
lesson
from that door number
that life sometimes turns
what about the light light
life sometimes burns
walls walls sometimes life has walls i
mean dude come on right they walk around
he's like rock rock oh my gosh there's a
hole i will now learn torah
like what happened there like what was
it that he's like you know this is
amazing there's a book i will now get
married excuse me right like what are
you drawing these parallels yeah maybe
well since he started when he was 40
maybe all his life experiences leading
up to the age of 40 and then once he
started learning the torah maybe he was
able to connect the dots of his life
experience okay interesting so what life
could be okay good good okay let's say
then it could be possibly right i'm
going to focus in on on something else
but it might work with that you know
what do you want to say did you not have
a life that motivated you yes he did
have a wife that motivated him it's a
very important part of the story which i
left out purposely not in order to come
back to i wasn't planning coming to it
because it's a whole other section of it
he married a girl named rochelle rachel
rachel came from a home by uh the man
that her father was a very very wealthy
guy i believe they called him kalba
which means the satiated dog because
when people literally means that because
people would come he was so wealthy that
whenever somebody was like very hungry a
poor person they would come to him and
he would he would feed them right he was
the one who would say like the
person the dog looking around to get
some food yeah so he wrote about the guy
and raquel rachel wanted to marry this
guy akiva akiva was
was a shepherd he was a shepherd for
this guy called savor
but she saw on him something she saw
okay maybe he didn't like the idea of
great sages but he was very kind very
gentle and we find a lot of our leaders
were shepherds right king david moses
and solomon oh if so many of our of our
people started shepherds is showing
barack obama
i know what it is what
so i know the bottom line is there there
were shepherds and and you know teach
skills of leadership and all that kind
of stuff right so so his wife did push
him along a little but what broke the
thing that he's like now i'll do it so
it goes like this
ruby kiva saw the following idea let me
ask you guys a question um
what's your name
okay we'll go with you hey alex how are
you
hey scott hey alex
david where are you
okay what's your name dennis hey dennis
two hands are one two
dennis if i take one drop of water
just one
quiet on the set please
if i take one drop of water and i drop
it on a rock just one drop does that do
anything to the rock
yes very microsoft
does it do it does it not do it
who thinks yes it does
who thinks no
all right
so you gave a very good answer you gave
an excellent answer listen to this
what's zero
times one i don't wanna put you on the
spot
someone by the coattail what's going on
here yeah what's one times zero
zero what's ten times zero zero what's a
hundred times zero what's a billion
times fourteen i'm just kidding what's a
billion that's hard 14 billion what's
what's a billion times zero
zero
what's your name yeah dan
dennis
said it does something microscopically
if one drop does zero
then what does a billion drops do
zero
if a billion drops does something that
means that one drop did something that
one drop is microscopic but it did
something
what did rabia kieva see he saw the
fight i'm already 40 years old you
understand i lost my chance it's over i
can't do it but then what do you know
what's out so what happens then he saw
that there was drops of water going
through and he saw that the rock there
was a hole through the rock and he said
the following idea he said wow look at
that
he said i was thinking i'm 40 years old
how am i going to be able to learn so
much at this stage but then i realized
hey you know what
it did it what one drop one drop one
drop i could do the same thing i'll
learn one drop one drop one drop and
over time what happens i'll build up and
all of a sudden i'll be able to be
be able to make a hole through that rock
you see what happens to us is why
there's so few rabbi akivas
is because how many of us actually
believe
that we can do something
how many actually believe that we can do
something
yeah i want to tell you something i i
heard a story last night
i heard a story last night from someone
named robbie zohair wallerstein it could
be that other people say it also you
guys know what that is everybody
i read the following story
i don't remember where i heard it before
somewhere else but an amazing story
forgive me if i get the details wrong
but there was a fellow who was accused
apparently they tell the story in law
school there was a fella that was
accused of murder
of murdering a girl 17 year old girl
and this guy
you know he's a wealthy businessman he
had everything going for him he was
going to go all the way he wanted to
become president united states of
america i'm like he's not going to look
good in his resume yeah then he murdered
a 17 year old
so what happens he goes gets the best
lawyer money can buy
five million dollars a pop instead five
million dollars before it even starts a
retainer right he gets five million
bucks to this lawyer
you can't wait he said he's got to get a
clean
they put him up against him the
prosecution you know like a raffle comes
out lottery the d.a this new this new
prosecutor is 23 years old he's fresh
out of law school
it's a joke it's in the back you can
stand this guy he's going to win the d.a
is going to right the prosecutor's going
to lose for sure so the guy's experience
he's never lost the case
so what do they do
they start the trial
when they start to trial
prosecution gets up and starts saying a
woman who was standing outside at the
time of the murder supposedly and says
tell me where were you she said i was
standing outside of the room
says then what happened because then i
heard a big scream
goes then what happened and then at
three o'clock i saw him walk out
no one else
it's like
prosecution you know
that's the case you know for now your
turn go get him
so the defense gets up and said what
time did you say it was
she goes
three
o'clock really how do you know it's
three o'clock
i have a watch
oh really ever watching did you look at
the watch
see i looked at the watch oh you looked
at your watch yeah what kind of watch
a timex oh a timex watch was it a
timeless watch and you looked at your
watch at three o'clock because yeah
everyone's like where's this guy going
with this yeah he goes
maybe it was 302
she goes
no well do you ever set your watch fast
or slow do you want to get someplace
whatever it is
and
she's like uh no i think it was three
o'clock you know i looked at my watch at
three o'clock and he's like okay and he
sits the prosecution gets up and starts
rifling off again like a whole round of
like killing this guy you know the the
supposed murderer right
and the defense gets up again and he's
like
what were you wearing that day
and and the guy's thinking
who did i hire you know this guy's going
to bury me yeah and not only did i not
like you know the guy's going to destroy
me this is sick what am i that's 5
million down the drain and i'm going to
go to prison right
and it goes on and on and on and this is
how the trial goes for weeks the
prosecution destroys and the defense
pays barely defends
finally comes the final day it's the
final day anyone heard this before
comes the final day
ah we're all out of time okay thanks so
much guys have a good day nice night as
it comes to the final day
and
now they're going to have their summary
right there cool okay closing arguments
so
the prosecutor gets up and he knows this
whole thing and he goes and the girl is
17 years old
and he took this girl's life and you
know how much a life is worth
a life is worth a life that's why he
deserves to get his life taken in the
electric chair this girl will never go
to prom this girl will never have
children or grandchildren this girl's
that's it's over it's all because of
this man
i i say this man should be that's it
it's over it goes done
so now it turns to the uh
defense closing arguments
and the guy is sitting there thinking
like what's he gonna say now
and everybody knows the case is closed
the guy's guilty he's going to the
electric chair the judge feels that the
jury feels that everyone's in the
building feels it the guy feels it
everyone except for this lawyer gets up
and he goes
ladies and gentlemen
i'm sure you're wondering why i've been
behaving how i've been behaving
you know this whole trial
you see there's one reason why i've been
having like this
because
there is no need to defend my client
because as a matter of fact the girl
that you claim he killed
is not dead
she's still alive
ladies and gentlemen it's two o'clock
at three o'clock she's going to be
walking through the back door
she's on her way here and i felt there
is no need for me to go ahead and defend
someone
when there was no crime
and now everyone is like
what the heck is going on here right
and even the guy himself is like looking
up the judge is like huh the jury's like
what right and everyone's like what
what's
what's gonna be
everybody looks at the back
door two o'clock two ten
two twenty two thirty i've been just
walking around two forty two fifty and
he walks in
okay
all right
250. and it's a man right anyway right
so it's coming up
it's 2 55 and now everyone is like you
could feel the the you could feel the
rhythm feel the beat feel okay i was
like the bob's started time i said what
happens they go and they feel it
2 59
3 o'clock everyone looks at the door
3 10
3 20 3 30
4 00.
the judge goes i'm going to hold you in
contempt of court you know this is what
is this shenanigans what games are you
playing here enough of this this is
baloney this is that this is going to
make a mocking of my courtroom here this
is crazy
she goes
your honor
let me ask you a question
we know
that the american court system is based
off
beyond the shadow of a doubt
and you know when i said
that this woman is not dead she's still
alive and she's gonna walk through that
door three o'clock
you your honor all the jury everyone in
the room looked at the door
if you really thought that she was dead
it was beyond the shadow of a doubt you
would not have looked at the door and
you would not have waited this long for
her to walk in
so my closing arguments are if this is a
fair court based on the united states of
american law of beyond the shadow of the
doubt
my client
is not guilty
thank you and he sits down and the court
everyone's going wild and the press is
typing in pictures and this guy's
thinking he's not worth 5 million he's
worth 25 million this guy is the best
there is there's no one better and they
go and and now the jury judge is like
all right listen the jury's going to
make a decision here and the judge is
thinking wow this guy's good right this
guy's off the hook and the jury goes
they come back a minute later
and someone stands up says
your honor
we the jury
find the defendant
guilty of first degree murder sentenced
to the electric chair
i just want to pause for a second is
this throwing you guys back and forth
when i was listening to this story i was
like what he went he lost what's
happening in my god i was totally like
right there goes we find him guilty of
murder so the courtroom goes crazy
everyone's like what's going on here
this is out of control this doesn't make
any sense right and the judge himself
says excuse me ladies and gentlemen of
the jury but this is a very strong
argument right that we came up over here
and that what that we come down to is
that
we it's beyond a
shadow of a doubt right but it wasn't we
all doubt it so the man said i'm gonna
allow this woman to explain because
she's the one who came to this
conclusion and it's because of her that
we've come to this conclusion
so she gets up and says your honor
when he said that this woman
is going to walk through the back door
every person looked at the back door
except for me
i didn't look at the back door i looked
at the accused murderer
he was the only one in the room
for the entire two-hour period
that did not turn around
and the only one in this room that could
have known if she's going to walk in
that door or not
is him
and if he didn't turn around that means
because he knew
that she's not coming
and if he knew that she's not coming
that means that he's the murderer
that's the case is that wild
it's told out in law school right it's
like a crazy like thing taught but yeah
heard it it is discussed in law school
some would call it of a teacher saying
it as taught
some see it on boston label
but this is what we go ahead and this is
this story what is what is now
everywhere when you point this out i
think it fits very beautifully what
we're saying today
what has that relate to us
you see people it's very simple
if someone goes and tells you you're
great you're amazing you can succeed it
so much
you're incredible you're really wild you
guys can do amazing things
but if you never turn around and look at
the door if you yourself don't believe
it
then it doesn't matter
do you hear that
all the what's that i was gonna say on
the ladder it must be true than two
people don't believe in you say it again
say again i said and the latter must be
true to them that what that if people
don't believe in you
and like whatever and people like
tell you that you can't do something but
as long as you kind of like maintain
like you don't flip you're saying and
the flip of it is that if they don't
believe it but you believe in you you'll
be able to do unbelievable things is
that right do you want to say greatness
how does a person get their potential as
a person raise themselves up number one
is that you got to believe how many of
us actually believe that we could be
incredible that we can actually go into
unbelievable things
it's unreal that if you do a study and
all the greats and success in life in
any area it doesn't matter what whether
it's in finance whether it's in sports
whether it's in wisdom whether it's in
life it's a matter the common
denominator that they all come from is
there's no common denominator
it doesn't matter if their backgrounds
are so scattered they all come from
different places some of them came from
wealth some didn't something came from
strength some didn't oh it's kind of
that i read an article this morning
about is something that they the title
was giving on on ted you know ted ted
talks uh i forgot the woman's name i
gave her talk about something called
grit
she taught us a grit the grit is like
that will that push that whatever that
if you if you go and you believe that
you're giving it your all right but the
bottom line is if you don't even believe
in the first place there's no way you're
going to get it so why is it that people
don't go ahead why is that people are
not able to go and raise to the highest
of levels and reach the highest that
they're able to get answer is not
because of the fact that they don't want
to necessarily that's going to be next
because they don't actually believe they
can if you don't believe you can do
something forget about it you're done
if you believe you can do something
you'll be able to do unbelievable things
this is like we find khazal the sages
tell us
i believe because i will speak i believe
because when a person goes and says
something they come to believe it if you
say you can do something you're able to
do unbelievable things you say you can't
do something you're going to shut
yourself down that's why one of the
famous person by the name of ford heard
of him before harry henry ford he said
that what
whether you say you can or you say you
cannot it doesn't matter you're right
if you say you can you'll be able to you
say you can't you shut yourself down
this is based off the possum ish the
female person who's after his talk is
based off the idea in tehillim like he
says
i believe because i speak
therefore start to think about it people
can you do something let me tell you
something there was someone by the name
of frank abagnale jr anybody heard of
him before
catch me if you can frank about the
unbelievably inspiring person
right what does he do you know it's like
my father always said if you have
nothing to say
say it with confidence
yeah and then people start to believe
you yeah you walk and you say it with
power
even if you know it's wrong you'll still
be like really right you're like i
thought that it um
someone said like bam right if you come
in i say 70 of people 70 percent of
people in africa prefer vanilla over
chocolate it's a normal 70 if i come in
and say i think that maybe perhaps
they've once heard that it could be that
seven percent i think maybe go ahead and
they liked it or maybe a cup
i'm not sure they're like okay thanks
buddy right get out yeah but if you walk
in and say watch what does he do when he
walked in that day remember the first
thing he does at least in the movie i
don't think he's right he walks in and
he's like this
frank abagnale walks in the first day of
school to a new school that doesn't it's
not his and he writes his name on the
board because there's no teacher there
he pretended like he was a teacher and
everyone's like oh and it was french
like i didn't speak a word of french he
didn't have to though because he goes
you page 42 start reading yeah
everyone's like oh it's the teacher
someone walks in another teacher is sub
he's like it's okay steve i dealt with
it like i was like what the guy took
care of it he's like steve right he like
walks out yeah but he goes that he
wanted to become a pilot he wanted to
become a lawyer a doctor
what else
what i think he was in total eight or
nine professionals that he became a
banker right just because the fact that
he thought that he can that's it
we can do unbelievable things the
question though is as follows now we get
to the next level everybody's with me so
far number one grabbed me akiva why is
it ready akiva was able to do it we're
not able to do it because number one is
we get overwhelmed there's so much i can
do it one thing at a time one thing one
drop at a time i think i even be able to
do it the answer is hey you're able to
do one thing at a time that's number two
okay but now it gets deeper
the question really ultimately the end
of everything i'm going to tell you is
the bottom line difference between truth
and lying it's between truth and lies
truth and lies that's the end we're
going to get to it soon many times in
our life we want things we say that we
want things we claim that we want things
right we say we want to be
rich
we want to be
a good athlete we want to be good at
academics we want to be whatever it is
right when we say that
question is it really true and that's
the difference between do you want it or
ricky martin's style do you really want
it the difference between want and
really want essentially is your life
the difference between want and really
want is your life this is scary but if
you think about it for a moment you'll
realize what you really want out of life
you have
what you really want you have
what you really want you have who's my
cost benefit analysis guy was that you
who's cost benefit analysis right right
commemorative cost benefit now the idea
is what is that you want to be
successful right but you also want to
sleep right
which one do you want more the answer is
whichever you do
do you get that
you act on that which you really want
the most
so if you say i want to be rich
baloney you want to be rich
in theory you want but you don't really
want it what you really want is to be
lazy and sleep and nothing i want to be
connected to god let's say we
brainwashed uh educated you enough right
and says you don't want to be connected
to god you want him so you want it you
don't really want it you want it you
don't really want it it all comes down
to truth and lies everything comes out
to truth and lies and i'll tell you the
following story to bring this out i i
wish i had more time with you because i
could change your life
even for the better
here's a story that i saw on youtube you
could check it out yourself if you
really want to know you come back
tomorrow i'll send you it was an amazing
speech that i saw
and you maybe saw this in on csi
uh it's if i'm kidding you use the other
show before okay so now it goes like
this yeah in medical school i mean they
teach this yeah the following idea
there was a story about a guy very
wealthy rich man
and the rich rich man someone came up to
him and says yo man i want to be like
you
i want to be rich like you because you
want to be rich like me because yeah i
want to be rich like you he's like yeah
you want to be rich like me he goes yeah
we're going to keep doing excuse yeah
we're going to keep this you want to be
yeah
want to be rich like me meet me tomorrow
morning 4 a.m
on the beach
you hear this one
4 am on the beach
so he goes great so they go ahead and he
gets there 4 a.m he's at 3 59 he's
wearing a suit mistake
he's wearing a suit comes out to the
beach it's like i'm here the rich guy's
already there
he's like you want to be rich he goes
yeah he's all right
go into the ocean
guys like what the heck man i'm wearing
a suit yeah he goes go in the ocean
because the suit to be rich yeah go in
there it's like all right
starts walking through the ocean gets up
to his knees yeah and he's like heck is
this right he's like dude what now he's
going to keep going he's like keep going
he's like keep going he gets up to his
waist he's like what are you doing man
he's like i didn't say i want to on a
swim i said i want to be rich he goes
keep going fool
right so he keeps going and this gets up
to his chest gets up to his neck
right always i would say it gets up to
here and then up to here and then up to
here and then it goes down because of a
wave but then it goes back up right and
he goes up to his neck and he's like
what are you doing man he look the rich
guy comes in right next to him he goes i
told you he's right up in the water with
him he's up there was like do you want
to be rich he goes yeah he goes then
keep walking he keeps going gets to his
mouth he's like we're not gonna go and
he walks more and he gets up those
nuggets his nose above his head and he's
underneath
the rich guy grabs him
and pushes him deeper under
and the guy is like
right and he's going like this he's like
sorry it's a bad language right but he
goes over and over he's trying to hit
the guy but he has a good hold on him
he's under the water he's literally
drowning him
and he drowns him and the guy dies
thank you very much
no but before that what happens he's
literally drowning him and he's under
the water he's like
and then finally he feels the guy going
limp as he's going limp he pulls him
back up
the guy
takes a deep breath has anyone ever done
that when you're swimming right you go
and you take that deep breath right see
his deep deep breath and he's like oh
what the bubble
nice
and the guy goes
when you were under the water
what did you want
you to get the bubble off me man right
he's like what did you want
because i wanted to breathe
he goes when you want to be rich
as much as you want to breathe
you'll be rich
until then
you ain't got nothing
does anybody hear that
how badly do you please don't try this
at home right
you're like
mom i want to be rich i'm going swimming
right
no there it is what is that people do
you really want it now how do we get
from a state of want to really want
that's where we need to get clarity that
goes back to yesterdays we got to get
our knowledge
when you get knowledge and what is the
ultimate in life
when you really get clarity on it then
you're really gonna want it before then
it's like yeah that's nice judaism is
nice you know what i mean i'll fill the
fish you know what i'm saying i'll go on
yom kippur i'll send a little money to
sadaka you know what i'm saying i'll
wear one of these things you know i walk
into synagogue hello everyone you know
cox mac you know saying how's everybody
doing huh rabbi how are you you don't
shake your ribbons in there i'm so sorry
rabbit that's a pleasure oh you don't
shake hands the rabbit's wife you don't
say okay give me a hug right he says no
no no you're all confused yeah yeah i'm
saying people you gotta get knowledge
once you have that knowledge then you're
really gonna want it okay i would do a
quick recap
and i will okay so we started to begin
going robbie kievan who said the bottom
line is whatever he would have come
because it sees a hole in the rock
what's going on there why is that all on
the rack it's very simple because you
start to see the water's dropping
dropping drop john's throwing up he's
gonna hate him so much he wanted to buy
them invited but don't care about you
bite me don't get right that's what
happens when they get a little further
how come he hit him that much but it
helps him because when the great
situation 24 years and goes to 74 000
students 64 years old how'd he do it saw
the hole in the rock oh my gosh there's
a door knob it turns life is a light
bulb let's learn torah no answer is
because you started to see i'm 40 i'm
going to do anything no but if you go
one thing at a time one thing at a time
one thing at a time before you're gonna
go and get it to high levels right but
the question is a little bit further so
we said well do you even believe it
yourself if you don't look in the back
of the door you don't need you don't
even believe you don't believe you can
even do it and forget it man i'm gonna
do whatever you do believe you can do it
then the question is ricky martin do you
really want it right the answer is what
here we go
only if you really want if you don't
really want to forget about it how about
you want i want to breathe keep
breathing breathing breathing if a
person goes and they really want it and
they want as much as they breathe
they're going to get it because how do
we get them really want to answer you
got to have cloudy with knowledge when
you get knowledge or something and you
have the clarity then what happens then
a person wants to go for it you don't
have the client forget it you don't want
it the first place is going to be once
you have gone and touched the rabbi's
wife and says what bottom lines as it
comes down to people let's get the cloud
to get the knowledge once you get the
knowledge you're going to get the one
when you get the watch get the belief
let's get the belief that you're going
to do it you're going to do it and
become the greatest you could ever have
been and that's in any area of life let
alone judaism but not even little in
judaism let's focus on that as well
gentleman's been a pleasure i'll see you
when i see if i don't then i won't take
care and bye
you
