Reb Meilich Mittelman Z"L Sings "Yiddish Lider" Fin Der Heim

00:01 Mottel Meilech "Manny" Mittelman, probably recorded this 25-35 years ago. He was one of the principal Chazzanim for Young Israel of Detroit, and then Young Israel of Oak Park, from the early 60's through about 2015, until he was about 88 and just too tired to continue. The last Ne'ilah that he led about 5 years ago at that shul, at age 88-89, was mind-blowing and heart-opening. He was so strong, and full of joy in G-d and in prayer, and when he was done he said boldly, "I could fast for another two days." In his three years in Auschwitz, he fasted for days at a time-- so fasting for 24 hours, or the little things in life-- were nothing to him--relative to the deep gratitude he felt for every moment of life. Manny "Meilech" Mittelman, passed on February 16, 2019, about an hour before Shabbos was over. Bless his memory and spirit, always. Z"L
