this week we learned about korach and
the rebellion he waged against
moshe and essentially the entire
jewish people caused horrible calamities
and all of this came
from a place of honor and respect
that he was looking for that apparently
he was not
getting and this teaches us a tremendous
lesson about the concept of
conflict and fighting and disagreements
we see that it is something that is so
so
dangerous it destroys so much
teaches us that not only are there
plenty of other
issues and sins that are involved in
such as jealousy
and slander lashon haran mutsi shembra
saying things
are not true about another but we see
that even though
most punishments that are given such as
karet
being cut off is only from when a person
maybe
13 may bar mitzvah or maybe 20
however here we see that even the young
children suffered because of this
horrible sin and i want to share with
you a mishna this mission has in the
fifth pair
of pirikavot mishna 17 it says
any dispute that is for shemsheim the
sake of god you have pure intentions
it's going to be everlasting
but any dispute that is not for the sake
of god there's no pure intentions
is not going to be everlasting the mesha
continues and says
what is a dispute that is honest
seeking truth that is going to be
everlasting and that is the
dispute between shamai and hillel that's
your mind beth hilal they always used to
dispute
different halachic rulings in our torah
to try to understand
what does god want from me how can i
fulfill it properly
and what is a mahloket
dispute is not an everlasting one
because it's not
with pure intentions and that is korach
as the mishnah says
his assembly one second should say moshe
versus
and many other commentaries and say no
no no karach was fighting with himself
quran was korach was fighting yes
against moshe benu but mashirapin was
not fighting against korach
korach was the one who in who started
this conflict
he was causing a tremendous amount of
tumult
amongst the jewish people he was
searching and seeking for his own
honor for his own pride for his own
leadership
when a person is seeking conflict both
sides everyone loses out in this
conflict
moshe benu was not involved he turned to
hashem how to handle it
and hashem took care of it so tooth we
should not
be running towards conflict running
towards dispute or even answering
towards it we should run away as much as
possible
we should escape we should always be the
nirdaf the
pursuit rather than the rodep the one
who is
