The famous German historian, Sebastian Haffner, wrote an entire biography about Hitler, may his name be abolished, and the name of the book in English is: "The Meaning of Hitler." In Hebrew, it is called: "The Terrible Riddle and Its Meaning." One may ask: What is the riddle? What is the special riddle? So I will present it in just a few words. The topic that we will deal with today is a new approach that helps us understand a number of historical difficulties there are here, and reach understanding from a new perspective. This is what he writes: "In his youth, he was considered a failure. "He did not finish his high school education," Hitler. "He failed the entrance exams to the Academy of Arts. "From age 18 until his twenties, he spent his days "in Vienna, and later on in Munich, without any profession "without any professional aspiration at all. And here, he explains, that we don't know of any other person in history that passed from one extremity to the other, from absolute nothing to Führer. And he continues with many more details. "The first political position that he ever held "was the position of Chancellor of the Reich." Gentlemen, every political figure, that you read about today, begins as a member of the municipal council, deputy mayor, city mayor, parliamentary aide. Gradually makes progress, step by step. There's no way someone suddenly becomes prime minister. The first appointment, his first salary in his entire life, was as Chancellor, the head of the German government. Who ever heard of anything like that? Next. From the professional standpoint, he was a very strange chancellor. He never held any regular government meetings. When he felt like it, there was a meeting. If he didn't, then no. And from 1938, there was not one government meeting, until 1945. Wars, catastrophes, the entire world moved and he... He would come to the office around 12:00 or 14:00. Sit for an hour or two, and leave. Who managed everything? No staff member. Nothing. His entire way of behavior was very, very strange. He never had friends, he never had a wife, he never had children. In general, there was something strange about him in every aspect. And he compares him to other rulers, other dictators: Stalin, Mao, Napoleon. He was totally unlike them. They were regular people, with a wife, with a family, with friends. Nothing. And that is a very, very strange thing. He brings many more details, and each one adds more and more question marks. Question marks. How did a person like this rise to power? How? No one can understand it. He rose up and took control of the entire world. And if I had enough time, I'd show you the same in his political progress. Before he was elected in 1933, his party almost disappeared, was almost down to zero. Suddenly, it shot up. No one, no one, and there are a lot of biographies, look at a book like this, 1000 pages. Also, a famous professor, Ian Kershaw, wrote this biography, only about Hitler. And there are many books, I didn't bring many. And no one can explain how these things came to pass. There's an interesting book called, "Conversations with Hitler." This book was written by a man named Hermann Rauschning. A German, who was Hitler's friend when he just started out, a member of the Nazi party, and afterwards, he left and ran away from Germany. He didn't want them to kill him, so he fled to England. The Nazis didn't get to England. His book was published in 1940, and translated into Hebrew and published in Israel in 1941, that means, before everything became known. By the way, a second edition never came out. You can't find the book anywhere. You can't get a hold of it. In the used book stores, it costs a fortune. But a second edition has never been published. A very interesting book. He became a very fierce opponent of Hitler and wrote all sorts of harsh things. We'll touch upon some of them. By the way, books of other official historians don't bring this viewpoint, that's why I said we'll present a new perspective. Because this is an approach that they do not like in institutionalized history, and you'll understand why shortly. He writes like a close friend, like a person who's checked the facts, the Hitler often dealt in witchcraft. Witchcraft. Fortune-tellers and all kinds of mysticism, if you're familiar with it. What they call Black Magic. There's something called Black Magic, those are very, very harsh forces of impurity, very, very powerful. He dealt in those sort of things. Rauchning writes, I'll read it to you: "One day, at the hour in which it seemed that Hitler was in an open-hearted mood, "a wise woman, one of his acquaintances, turned to him with a warning: "My leader, "don't meddle in Black Magic. "Today, both are still open to you, the white and the black. "But if you choose Black Magic even once, "she will never remove her hand from your fate for evermore. "Please, do not choose the fast and easy victories. "Before you lies the kingdom of all the pure spirits. "Please don't let the earth-bound creatures push you off your right path. "They will rob you of your creative powers. "They will turn it into a god. "That wise woman expressed, in her own way, the things felt by every person "who came into contact with Hitler." "Hitler surrendered himself to the forces that swept him away with them, "forces of violence, "destructive darkness. "While he believed that he was acting out of freedom of choice, "he was already tightly bound to the reign of sorcery, "that can be defined in actual practice, "and not as a metaphor, but as satanic magic. "Instead of seeing a person rise up and become clearer and freer, "we saw a creature engulfed by a frenzied spirit "that took control of him more and more. "He became more enslaved, more helpless, "falling prey to dark forces that dominated him "and would never let go of him again. "Did Hitler actually have a choice? Could he have chosen a different path? "Many of us who knew him believe so, "many still hoped for a return, "even though, by that time, it was too late." I brought you an entire paragraph quoted from Rauschning, who knew him, who lived him. I don't know if any of you have ever seen, and today, a person can see everything, Hitler giving a speech before hundreds of thousands of people. His speech is closer to barking than to talking. And I am familiar with and understand speeches in German. Barking. If you look at the masses, at the people, you'll see a group of hypnotized people, hypnotized. People stand as if they're hypnotized, for hours. And if you look closely at him, you'll also see a very, very strange phenomenon, it's like something's taken control of him, he's not the one in control, but a person who is being controlled. It's something everyone can see, even today, there are the clips, the films taken of his speeches. And Rauschning writes: "Hitler is not a dictator. "He placed himself in the hands of forces behind him who motivate him, "sometimes even contrary to his knowledge." This description is called, in the psychological, psychiatric jargon, "forced." There's a situation in which a person is forced, he's forced by a foreign factor, on an internal, psychological level. This force could be external, and could also be internal. You make have heard about the expressions, a dybbuk. A reality in which the soul of one person enters another person, and similar situations. But there are different levels of strength with these things, like everything else. Like an illness in a body, we know that bacteria or a virus enters the body, and sometimes, it is weak, and sometimes, it is strong. The same thing happens on a spiritual level. It could be a spirit, it could be a ghost, it could be a dybbuk. A spirit that was, in the past, a very evil person, and things like that. Also the people around him felt that he wasn't a regular man. They felt it. That is why I gave you the title that they began calling him right from the start: " Führer." There were no emperors anymore, but this was so much more. One of the amazing things, there was no country in human history in which the cultural level.. And what do I call culture? The press, theater, poetry, whatever you want, and the scientific level... What is science? Physics, mathematics, biology, everything, were at such a high level as that of Germany between the First and Second World War. During that period, Hitler rose to power, Hitler began to rule, it wasn't a third world country in Africa or some other remote place. It was that country. That same country. And those same people elected as their prime minister, a man who was totally uneducated. There was no reality like that anywhere in the world. And certainly not in Germany. A place teeming with doctors and professors. How did that happen? And those circles of high intelligence were filled with his blind admirers. How did that happen? Secondly, ever since he rose to power, there were no elections. From 1933 until 1945, for the 12 years that he ruled, not even one election. How did he rule? Referendums. He was even more popular that the Nazi party. Every time he wanted something, he held a referendum, and he won. Meaning, people followed him blindly. How did that happen? In such a cultured country, wouldn't they make sure to hold elections? How did that happen? His entire gang, Goebbels, Himmler, and more names that you may or may not be familiar with, they were also all just a bunch of rabble-rousers. All the heads of the Gestapo, the S.S., were ignorant, uneducated people, that he met somewhere in the beer cellars that he used to visit. He never sat down and talked to people. Never. He looked for a couple of drivers, a few, I don't know what, employees... to sit with and make speeches to in all sorts of forums, but he never did. How did it work? He commanded over an enormous army, without any professional training. And he forced his opinions on the generals, people with great military knowledge, with lots of experience, and they were forced to listen to him. How did all this happen? I can give you a list of many questions like these. Immediately after he rose to power, he decided to commit mercy killings. On Germans! Germans who were a little weak, a little sick, a little crazy, as we call them, "non-productive." And the doctors cooperated with them, they gave them an injection to die, and that was that. That's called "mercy killings." After it became known, the church came out against him, and they had to stop it. But he killed 70 thousand people, pure Germans, not Jews. Things that never happened anywhere before. And I can continue to quote many, many more things. Rauschning continues to write: "It's reasonable to assume that the entire environment saw in him "a person granted with magical powers, and certain supernatural powers, "in addition to his human characteristics, "and that turned him, in their eyes, into a great leader, a visionary, who could lead the German nation towards a new future "during the difficult situation endured by Germany during that period. "The medium," you may be familiar with the term, "medium," that's a person who moderates between certain spiritual powers and regular people. "Don't underestimate him, or speak about him in jest. "He was simply a great sorcerer, "literally. "We have gone so far to retreat to a state of savagery, "that the sorcerer became a king within us." Now, this wasn't written by a mystic, a person of a particular religion or cult. "Rauschning was far from all of that. Sebastian Haffner, whom I mentioned earlier, wrote here in his book, on page 20: "It is known that Hitler has an ability to sway assemblies of different people, "and the larger and more mixed the gatherings, "the better it was for a homogenous crowd, like material in the hands of a creator, to first put them all under a trance." You don't find that by any speech-makers, and there are excellent speech makers. And so, the audience doesn't know him or anything about him, and suddenly they come, he starts to talk, and they feel that they... if you understand what a trance is. Not a simple, rational experience. "After that, to turn them into a collective group. "This ability was not based on the art of speech." Do you know what an orator is? It is a man who speaks, that's all. I knew orators, you could sit and listen to them for two, three hours. They were amazing. No. "For Hitler's speeches began slowly, in segments. "They lacked any logical structure, "and sometimes, they had almost no clear content." So as I said to you, you can log onto websites on the internet, and see these things, see him speak, and it's more like barking. And also, the level of content is close to nothing. "Aside from all that, they were spoken in a throaty, hoarse, guttural voice. "It had a hypnotic quality." Just like Rauschning, Sebastian Haffner also writes... He was also a German historian who fled during the war from Germany to England, in fear of Hitler. "The ability to focus all of his willpower to continuously dominate the collective subconscious as long as he employed this hypnotic action on the masses what Hitler's first political weapon, "and for a long time, his only weapon. "For here, we had a person lacking any sort of education, and without any rhetorical finesse." He manages to assemble millions who stand like this, during his speeches. To vote for him in the referendums, and there were many of those. They agree to suffer. To suffer. Why? You must know, during all those years that he was in Germany, the German people suffered. From what? From lack of food, lack of clothing, from the dead and wounded in the army. He promised a better future, because when he would take over the entire world, he would make sure that every person, every worker would have a car, and of course... You've probably heard, maybe some who visited Auschwitz maybe saw, that the Germans, may they be damned, before they cremated people, they removed their clothes. What did they do with those clothes? They sent them for distribution in Germany. Because in Germany, there were no clothes. The people walked around in those used, tattered clothes that belonged to those people. Understand what the situation in Germany was like. Why were they willing to suffer? To go to war against the entire world, when they didn't see any salvation or anything in return? No one has an answer. Professor Ian Kershaw, who wrote a long biography about Hitler, writes this: "After the first year or two of his tyranny..." And as you know, he rose to power in 1933. "He leaned more and more towards a lifestyle that resembled "the life of an idle young man from Linz and Vienna. "As was told by one of his former assistants in his testimony after the war: "Hitler would usually show up shortly before lunchtime." Did you hear that? Go to see even the prime minister of a tiny country like Israel, how hard he works. And he really works hard. No. He acts like a free student. He goes to the office right before lunchtime. "He quickly reads newspaper segments prepared for him by Dietrich, the press officer. "Right after that, he immediately goes to lunch. "When he was in a certain city, "Obersalzberg, the situation was even worse. "There, he didn't leave his room before two in the afternoon." It's not like he worked in his room. He slept. Who knows what he did in there? "And then, he would go to eat lunch. "He spent most of the afternoon hours taking long walks." The guy didn't work at all. The largest empire, the strongest country, wars... Nothing. Take it easy! "And immediately after lunch, there were movies." He'd sit and watch detective movies. "He hated to read documents. "Sometimes, I would manage to extricate decisions from him, even important ones, "without him even asking to see the files that dealt with the issues. "He believed that most things work themselves out." It's clear that the country was not run in any rational method. You have other testimonials of his private assistant, saying that the man was not "in the know," as they say. So who ran everything? How did everything run? You understand that we have here some sort of mystical force. I mentioned that usually, historians don't like to get into this niche, but it's a fact. Now, let's get back to our friend Raushning, for a moment. "Conversations with Hitler" "Hitler had bouts of paranoia, a personality disorder. "Schizophrenia. "Insomnia that was probably a result of nervous exertion. "Often, he would wake up at night and walk about restlessly, back and forth." Suddenly, he needed light everywhere. Yes, the man was completely insane. Psychotic. "One person who was in touch with him every day gave me this description," listen closely. "Hitler would wake up suddenly at night shouting convulsively, "he called for help. "He sat at the edge of his bed, as if he couldn't move, "trembling in fear, shaking the entire bed beneath him, "shouting mixed-up and incomprehensible sentences. "He breathed erratically, as if he was about to choke." That is a psychotic attack. "The bearer of this information described to me one strange spectacle in great detail. "I wouldn't have believed the story," writes Rauschning, "if it hadn't come from this source." The author doesn't note the name of the man, because they would have killed him. If they would have known who told him, the Nazis would have killed him immediately. Because this book was published while Hitler was still alive, I told you, in 1940. When the man fled to England. And this is what he writes. Listen: "Hitler would stagger about his room, "looking wild-eyed at his surroundings. "Him! Him! "He was here," he would groan. "His lips were blue, "sweat poured down his face. "Suddenly, he started spewing out numbers, strange words, "broken sentences that lacked... "The man was gripped by fear after hearing what he heard. "He used word combinations connected in strange ways, definitely not German. "After that, he fell totally silent. Only his lips moved. "He was given a massage, they suggested he have something to drink. "There! "There! In the corner. Who is that?" "He stamped his feet, shouted, as was his manner. "They showed him that there was nothing unusual in the room. He calmed down." And so, he continues with his description. and we have many additional descriptions by others. Hitler wanted to create a new religion. He would be the God. He believed that he was God himself. And of course, what we call, the foreign god, the Other Side, the Sitra Achra (=Satan). He described this force that enters him many times. He says: "If you would know who I see, who I feel, "he's evil, he's vicious, he is unparalleled." All of the clues, all of the behaviors reflect the real fact that the Sitra Achra himself entered him. We asked a question right at the beginning. How could a person, who lacks education, lacks knowledge, lacks normativity be able to act in such a strange manner? Here is the answer: He is basically the vessel, carrying within himself a negative, adverse, evil spiritual force that entered him: The Sitra Achra. The force leads him, pushes him, in a very harsh manner, in a very bold manner. He does not have any control over himself at all. Everything is pushed upon him. We see very severe phenomenon. At the end of the war, one and a half years before the end of the war, all of the generals demanded to stop the war, they knew it was a lost cause. Only he kept pushing forward. Until the end of the war, the only thing that kept the Nazis going was to kill Jews. Until today, we still have telegrams of generals who demanded fuel for their tanks, and they receive the answer: No fuel. But the trains that brought the Jews to Auschwitz had fuel. They had fuel. How? That means, the only objective that had top priority in the Nazi regime, was the murder of Jews. All the rest was unimportant. Only killing and hatred, blood and tears of everyone. And they told him: "Listen, Germany is being destroyed." He said: "I don't care." In the last year of the war, '44-'45, the Allies, and mainly England, bombed Germany all the time and wiped out house after house, street after street, in civilian cities. One city, (Dresden), was completely destroyed. They raised their voices, shouting at Hitler: Call for a cease fire. "That's not an option. "Let all of Germany burn down. I don't care." These are known facts. How could this be? How could there be a reality like that? When Hitler decides to fight against Russia, all of the generals said, "We have to postpone the war by nine months. "We're right in the middle of a difficult war in North Africa, "in the Caucasus, "with England. Let's finish that, one by one." And if he would have actually listened to them, it's likely that he would have been victorious. No. He forces his opinion on them. And now, something very interesting happens which, I think, never received the appropriate attention: Every place in which Hitler was victorious and conquered, were only the places where Jews lived, and of course, the first thing he did was to kill them in a thousand and one ways, some by fire, and some by water, some by gunshots and some by gas. What didn't he use?! All the places that he tried to conquer where there were no Jews... he failed. He failed. Because this was a battle of the Sitra Achra, who is, in effect, the minister of Amalek. You remember? He came to do battle with Jacob. "And a man wrestled with him until the break of day." Who was that? Look at Rashi on that verse. Right? "The minister of Esav." And so here, we have a spiritual battle. Hitler was only the medium. The medium. A medium is just the means. In business, there's a concept of a "straw owner." It's someone seems to be the one who buys or sells, but it's not really him. The same happened here. He, from a young age, it seems like he is from Jewish lineage. His father was an illegitimate son of a maid who worked for a Jew. An assimilated Jew, an educated Jew. And from a young age, he began to drift. He roamed the streets, as we saw. But he did have one thing, and he wrote about it in his book, "Mein Kampf," which he wrote while he was in prison. The thing that he had was a hatred for Jews, and that it was necessary... He didn't write to kill, don't be mistaken, he wrote, it is necessary to get rid of them. How? He never said. "To get rid of them." At first, there were all sorts of solutions, like exile and the like, we won't get into that now. But we all know what happened in the end. How did that happen? A task was performed that belonged under Amalek's jurisdiction. The jurisdiction of Satan. Just like what happened during Haman's time, "To destroy, to kill and to eradicate the young and the old, children, and women." And all of that was conducted with the strength, and the inspiration of this devil. This Satan. One of the great researchers, Eberhard Jäckel, was also a professor of history who was searching for all of the solutions to the questions we just presented. We presented. Hitler, throughout his entire life, beginning with the first "Mein Kampf," and ending with the second "Mein Kampf," would go up against the Jews by claiming that they founded communism and the apostasy of God. That they were the ones who just ruined Russia, and killed 30 million Russians. Who? The Jews? Marx, Karl Marx, the father of the communist ideology. Trotsky carried out the teachings. And now, they want to destroy Germany, in the same manner. That was basically his motto. That is the motto. But by the way the mission was carried out, and the way it was managed, as I said, we see a behavior that is not human. He built a house for himself. He wasn't even German. He was Austrian. They called it "The Eagles' Nest." "The Eagles' Nest." The prophet says: "Dwellers in the crevices of the rocks, perched on the top of a hill, "because you will lift up your nest like an eagle, from there I will bring you down, says the Lord." Malbim, the commentator, writes: "Your tower is fortified, if by its strength of being in the crevices of the rock," in the middle of the mountain, "or if by being lifted up high." What did they call his headquarters? "The Nest of Eagles." Exactly what the prophet writes. "You are perched on the top of the hill." It was a very high mountain. And there was an elevator down below, at the foot of the mountain, and only a choice few could go up to the top. And that is supposed to be the dwelling place of God. If anyone read it, you know that Hiram, the king of Tzur, did that. He also made a place up high, and claimed that he was God. If anyone remembers, Pharaoh said, "The Nile is mine, and I made it," as is written by the prophet Ezekiel. So, in the past, there were people who had a similar approach, who believed that they were God. The prophet says, the Holy One says to Hitler, "Even if you lift up your nest, from there I will bring you down, says God." So if we wish to summarize: There was a war going on, the same war, the Second World War, the same war that Hitler waged, may he be damned, against other nations in the world, but first and foremost, aimed it against the Jews. This was a battle between two forces, the force of good and the force of evil which exist in the world. The force of good and the force of evil. The force of evil found a place to rest, inside Hitler, who became his carrier. I'm not here to absolve Hitler, let there be no mistake about that, I'm not claiming he wasn't guilty. No. "For a person is led down the path of his choice." Let there be no mistake. "And merit is sent to he who is righteous, "and guilt to those who are guilty." That's why earlier, I emphasized the fact that when he was still young, young, and he was in prison because of an attempt to cause a rebellion against the German regime, that's where he wrote that he wanted to get rid of the Jews, for they were the greatest problem in the world. And I don't even want to read to you all of the names that he calls the Jews in his book. Meaning, of his own free will, that same poor man, who had no resources, no money, no education, no intelligence, sat and fantasized how he would annihilate the Jews. So when Satan was given permission, and our sages tell us in the Baba Kama Tractate, "Once permission was given to Satan, he could no longer tell the difference..." Remember? "Between good and evil." Permission was given. When permission was given to Satan, and why was it given? For a very simple reason. It is written in the Torah in Ki Tavo and also in BeHukotai, that if Israel sins and rebels against the Holy One, then, in effect, they inaugurate the Second King. There is a concept called "The Chair of Honor," Kisseh Hakavod. You must have heard that. But you must know that the second also has a Chair of Honor, the Sitra Achra also has a kingdom. And in the Book of Ecclesiastics, he is called "An old and foolish king." The Sitra Achra. So when Israel accepts the reign of the Blessed One, "And His reign is willingly accepted by them," then the blessing comes true: "For God will be the King and rule over all nations." But if Israel rejects the reign of the Blessed One, in effect, they cause the rise of the Sitra Achra, of Satan. This appears in the booklet, after the book, "Mesilat Yesharim," a booklet called "Derech Etz HaChaim," that there's a situation in which Israel "will give strength to God," they give strength to the forces of good, but there's also an opposite situation, in which they give strength to the devil, they give strength to the Other Side. That means, it depends on us. "And who is like Your nation Israel, one nation in the land." It depends only on the strengths of "Klal Israel," all of the Jews. And here, we are witness to the fact that after a long period, that began around 1770, which was called the Age of Enlightenment, a time of rebelliousness, of assimilation, of conversion to Christianity, Satan gets power. And then, he needs someone who is willing to be his host. He needs someone who is willing to host him. And when Hitler, the king of the underworld, wrote and said that he was willing to be the carrier, he was willing to be the host, that would host the "king of the underworld," the "old and foolish king," so that is what happened. That is what happened. Those are not human powers. Because on the human level, you saw... You were in the army. What is a squad commander? It's only ten men. How many does he have? And there are professional opinions that he doesn't have the strength to lead ten men. So how did he lead one hundred million? And not one hundred million primitive ignoramuses somewhere in Africa or something. He was leading the strongest nation, the most intelligent, the most educated. That is not something our mind can fathom. That is why I quoted some of the passages for you, just a few, from people who were close to him, that we're talking about an entirely different type of force that entered him. There is a concept in world literature of "selling one's soul to the Devil." Maybe you've come across it in literature. "Sold his soul to the Devil." It represents the concept of a person who is willing to be the vessel of Satan, and this is a real thing. And here, it complies with the expression that represents the connection, "a horse and its rider." "A horse and its rider." Just like we see with Pharaoh, who says "Who is God?
