Reb Shlomo Carlebach ztl The holy and Bobover Rebbe would tell his Chassidim: when reading the Megillah and Haman’s name is mentioned, people stomp and bang loudly. But he would say — give one clap, not more. Because if you clap again and again, it’s as if you’re saying the first one wasn’t strong enough. That is Amalek. Amalek attacks self-confidence and plants doubt — “maybe it didn’t work… maybe try again… maybe you’re not enough.” Purim teaches the opposite. Stand strong. Trust your first act.
