after 28 long classes
we are able to conclude chapter one in
Gate of incarnation
oh Gates sorry Gates of holiness
wrong book
and interestingly I don't want to say
ironically but interestingly we covered
the first chapter in 28 classes 28 is a
Gematria the numerical value of coax of
strength
but uh
before we go to the next chapter which
kind of will take us to a completely
different uh
approach
then I think I wanted actually not to
but I think it will be important to do a
summary of chapter number one
because if you're learning from this
book or any book but specifically from
this book and you do not apply it to
your life then you wasted your time and
there's no you know you don't benefit
out of it
well anything that you learn not only in
Torah if you're a pro apply yourself to
learn something and then you don't use
it so why did you learn it
even if it's a trade
so I mean when I was younger I learned a
lot of traits a lot of things to do now
sometimes my kids see me do things it's
like how do you know how to do it I was
like because when I was a teenager I
wanted to know how to fix electricity
how to fix plumbing how to fix cars
so it's not that I'm a mechanic or
electrician but I want to know how to
fix things I need to know how things
work in our generation nobody knows
anything sometimes I ask my kids to do
things they like and then when I do
things look what I'm doing so you
wouldn't know it one time
another day I fixed something you know
my son was like how do you know how to
do it
and I was like because I looked at my
father and my grandfather and if I
wouldn't then now we would be in a
problem right so look what I'm doing so
you know how to do it yourself
so anything that you learn in this world
or in your life if you don't apply it
then why did you learn for now when we
take it to the realm of the Torah and
take it even a step higher to a book
like shareka dusha that the entire uh
message of the book the point of the
book is to make you a better person so
if you already took the time to learn it
but then you don't apply it then you you
miss the point you actually miss the
point
somebody asked me a lot longer why don't
you teach this book why don't you teach
from that book why don't you teach from
this book I said there are many books we
can learn all day long from different
books but I rather learn one book and
practically practice it than to learn 20
books and not to do anything
so I'm talking about with teaching in a
class if you have time then you should
learn from many different books if a
person knows that on their path of chuva
they need to learn a certain approach
then you need to learn certain books and
on your path of YouTuber you need to
learn different things then different
books will apply to you
so we chose a few months ago to start
learning because I believe strongly
as the book teaches us that our main
avodha our main effort in this world is
to refine myself
and if I don't do that then what am I
doing here
collecting air
now many say no this is not a Torah
approach for thousands of years the
Torah approach was to learn the oral law
and to just follow the Torah and do them
it's about and it was good for the
thousands of years why are you coming
and changing it
so first of all I'm not coming and
changing anything I'm just learning a
book happens to me that 450 plus years
ago a new era started with the teachings
of Kabbalah here in the city of zvat
which opened a whole new approach of how
we practice our our faith
and with that came one of the books
now the the main
point and the focus of this book is if a
person wants to reach to goldish or her
college is that there's many different
levels of oaxacola college is that you
have divine inspiration
now the author had a very high level of
to a point that he knew practical
Kabbalah he knew things like it sounds
to us like craziness teleporting himself
and many other things
that his master just out of the day
somebody asked me about his master de
Rizal and because somebody he the person
asked me did I I write that Rizal had
animals I said I don't think he had
animals but we do know that he knew the
animal language he knew how to
understand the animals
and more than that he was very
particular about not killing any living
creature
but nevertheless his master just imagine
to to reach the level did you understand
the animal the animal language you
understand the language that what they
talk
I mean the result was something
completely you know out of the scope
where we can fathom but his students his
disciples had a very very high level of
work and I'm not talking about prophecy
prophecy is one thing and college is a
completely different thing prophecy is
for a prophet and anybody can have
the difference between prophecy and
Allah prophecy Hashem will decide if you
will be the prophet and he gives you a
prophetic message you decide if you want
to have it or not
so the book is really uh college for
dummies you want to have college read
the book applied you'll reach to work
and there's many different levels and
the definition of college is that I have
divine inspiration whether I see uh not
in a physical way whether I perceive
things not in a physical way and maybe I
may be able to change things in the
physical world such as teleporting and
many other things going into different
dimensions
so it's not some hoo-ha and black magic
it's uh practical things that many can't
achieve for many reasons
and we're not shopping for oh goddess I
told you that when we started this book
we're not I'm not looking to have war
records because I know I'm never reached
to this level
I'm looking to refine myself
because when I look at my life and I
need to throw a dart to the destination
in our generation everything is is ready
for us you're going into the car you're
punch in the destination and the GPS
will tell you when you're going to be
there which route to take and
so that comes us to teach us the
technology is coming to teach us about
godliness in this world
so if you're going somewhere without a
destination take to consideration it
might take you longer than the usual and
you might get lost
same thing in your life if I'm going
somewhere without a destination then
what are you doing you have a plan
is your life planned the next year the
next two years the next 10 years
is you have a goal do you have a vision
now that works well for example when
you're ambitious in business and many
other things
but our business is to serve Hashem
I work for Hashem
now ultimately the one who gains the
most is me
now imagine now you live your life happy
healthy successful past 80 years 90
years it's time to go home to wrap wrap
up your belongings
everybody comes to the same thought it
doesn't matter if You observe it
non-observant Jew non-jew what did I
achieve in this in my life did I achieve
anything in this in my life
that's a thought that comes to many
people in their 70s 80s even 60s and 50s
what am I doing with my life did I
achieve anything can I look back now 50
years of my life and say okay what did I
achieve now a lot of people say okay if
I'm not famous rich and successful I
didn't achieve anything that's incorrect
if I brought kids to the world and
they're now
good-hearted hard-working people and
their amazing citizens and so forth I
was successful bringing kids into the
world and educating them and preparing
them so my success is not measured how
much money I have my success is measured
what did I do and what did I set myself
as goals and actually did that
now I can tell you already and don't be
offended if that is you most people
don't have goals don't have Ambitions
not successful and everything and their
life is kind of a waste of time
don't be offended if that's you and if
that's you then instead of being
offended get with the program
so
and Hashem gave each and every one of us
our destination you need to find that
destination
and Hashem gives us all the tools and
the means to be successful in what I
need to be
I have a very good friend I told you
about me many times
that for years he wanted to be the next
startup the next Facebook the next he
had bright ideas and everything and it's
anything in there he never seen anything
like that apps that wow
and he had all the everything the vision
the ability creativity you name it was
able to raise money the whole nine yards
nothing nothing ever succeeded Niche one
of his business ventures ever worked
never made money nothing
at some point I told him listen you have
a very sharp brain you're extremely
smart you have an unbelievable talent in
giving over what you know brilliant
memory I don't think that you are
destined to be rich successful and
Innovative and be the next uh big
startup
you it seems like yours just have to
focus on your learning and to teach
other people and to be educating people
of course he didn't like that because it
doesn't come with money but nevertheless
and then of course we moved our paths
parted and years later when I met him
then of course he told me and of course
by the way not only the business didn't
work out marriage didn't work out
because you know when business don't
work out then it can affect can affect
the marriage at the end of the day I
found him that he's married he had to a
girls and he was learning all day long
and he told me I'm so happy I've never
been so happy in my life I learned Torah
all day long when I can I teach and
so really what was his success of
failure the business the success of
failure that he can sit and learn for
hours and eventually go and teach and
become an educator and so forth
so your success in life is not
necessarily translated into money
if you're looking at all the biblical
figures their success was not money or
status
was their lifestyle
so each and every person needs to stop
where they are it doesn't matter if
you're 20 or 50 and to say where is my
life taking me what did I do in the last
20 30 40 50 years and what is the plan
for the rest of my life and what for me
would be considered success when I leave
this world that I can come and stand
with another Master of the Universe and
said I did something worthwhile
I did not waste my time in this world on
nonsense
most people in this world waste 90
percent of their time if not 99 of their
time is gone to waste
very few people know how to control
their time manage your time and use
every moment to the right thing
I told you that many times some people
tell me I talk to them tell me ah you're
not friendly
what does it have to be friendly no you
never talk you know you're always in a
rush and you don't want to talk it
doesn't mean I'm friendly have things to
do you're healthy good you're happy good
your job is good that's what I need to
know I need to know schmooze with you
start hearing about your daughter your
son your neighbor your car your business
your boss it doesn't matter it doesn't
interest me even
important things to do
the other day somebody told me uh some
how did they say it
you don't socialize
socialize
yeah bored you need to socialize I have
a full day
to manage between a husband seven kids a
business totally learning I have time to
sit with a beer and to socialize with
somebody about the football game and the
elections
a it doesn't interest me B's a waste of
time
nothing is achieved from that
somebody once told me oh I like coming
home and unwinding and watching a movie
I said read it read a book retail him
that's good unwinding
so you'll get much more unwind
but nevertheless I'm not judging anybody
I'm not customer
and trying to insult anybody I'm just
saying that most people their time
management sucks they don't know how to
manage their time their time is
completely wasted especially now with
Facebook and Tick Tock and Schmick Mock
and I am WhatsApp and
I've never seen anything like this this
is like a disease a disease
and it's designed so smart to capture
the youth is like sometimes I look at my
kids and I'm like when I was your age
you know how much I did in your age
oh because he didn't have this and he
didn't have that we had everything
but I had a life
Our Generation kids are like stuck to
the screen and now somebody told me in a
few years a person without thumbs can't
do anything
so the answer now just changes its form
and the answer wants you to be
unproductive he wants you to be not
efficient
just imagine how great you would be if
you would have more time on your hands
to do what you need to do and when you
do everything in a very efficient way
you'll have free time to do other things
if you monitor your day you'll see how
unefficient most of your time is how you
waste most of your time of course
everything is blame and blaming the
entire world
most people can focus on one test
they're all over the place and again I'm
not saying it to hurt anybody I'm just
making an observation and why because
nobody's going to pay you back for your
lost time
and time goes like that
and now before the end of time like a
sand clock if you're looking at the sand
clock the top is very wide so you don't
really notice when it goes down but when
it's all the way at the bottom
there's no width then you see very fast
how it goes down
time didn't change
40 years ago did time go fast no now you
do Abdullah and then you're getting
ready for Shabbat
and it has nothing to do with your
observance the other day I went to a
store
a tall secular woman and I said
something she was like before I before I
know it it's already the weekend
so there's nothing to do if you don't
observant or not time is going now fast
between your hands
the day starts it's already seven
o'clock what did I do I didn't do
nothing
I told you why because we're the end of
time and if you're looking at a sand
clock the top is wide so you don't see
when the sand goes down
but we're at the end so there's not much
more time left so it looks you feel how
fast it is
it's not that something shifted in the
universe it's just the end of times
now what does that mean in the end of
times it means we're going somewhere bad
no we're going into a new beginning
but wouldn't you forget about now death
and your world to come even for the
arrival of the Redemption you want to be
caught with your pants down you know
that most people see not most a lot of
people see what's going on what the
world government is cooking for us they
know what's on the agenda but don't do
nothing
that's most people yeah yeah we need to
prepare for the coming yeah how prepared
are you
yeah you prepared or not most people are
not prepared a few people they're
already prepared prepared I'm talking
about having some food and water
disorder having some money aside
prepared to be mobilized if needed and
many other things Injustice yes
worse things happened in history
so either way you're looking at it what
I like to focus on as a human being I
did that when I was young because I was
very ambitious to make money in business
and then when I became observant I saw
that this uh this system should be
applied to my day-to-day Life as a human
being because I don't want to find
myself after 70 80 years living this
world and saying
I should have done this I could have
done that and
I don't like my time being wasted that's
why that person told me I'm not friendly
I told them it's not I'm not friendly I
have a very
calculated time everything is calculated
you talk to me five minutes more than my
time you took my five minutes it's gonna
come on the account of something else
I have a very calculated day and when
you take away from that not you I'm just
saying
I told the person says there's nothing
being friendly or not hi hi you're doing
good everything good that's what I need
to hear
I don't need to hear no stories
and if you need to tell me a story do
you have a question can I help you
another way
now of course not everybody works like
that but I can tell you that for me my
my
goals need to be met
my my destinations
but why am I saying all this because
life is short and we came here to do a
certain task and I need to achieve it
and why I focused on this book is
because one of my main goals in this
world is to refine myself
exactly what we learned an hour ago
Hashem created a world that is not
perfect so you can fix it if Hashem
would want a perfect world we would live
in a perfect world
everything would be perfect
food would be healthy the water would be
clean our leaders would be honest
leaders
to make money would be easy no sickness
no diseases but Hashem didn't create
this perfect world Hashem created a
corrupt broken down world now go and fix
it
now I'm not telling you now to go and
fix the world because you can fix the
world but you need to fix your world
so comes the the author Robert and he
gives a very strong opinion which I hold
by a lot and I teach that for a decade
that one of my main purposes in my life
is to refine myself
that's it if I look at myself as a
father as a husband as a child to my
parents
as a person dealing with Humanity
if I look back and I can see a very big
difference between how I was 20 years
ago now then I feel that I was pretty
good with my actions you don't see the
distance the difference between here and
a month
okay if a person wants to build muscles
it takes five years to build a very
muscular body but if you're looking
every month at the mirror you're not
going to see the change
when I was young I was a very focused I
used to do martial arts and and for many
many years and one time when I went to a
next level then I started also working
with the with the weights to gain Mass
to gain strength and my trainer told me
for the next three months don't look in
the mirror
and when you shower when you stop
yourself don't look at the body
okay why just don't look
three months later he told me okay take
a shirt off look at the mirror wow
how it changed the whole body shifted
so tell me if you would look every day
at the mirror you wouldn't see the
change
you're looking at your child do you
remember how they grow
you look after 10 years wow you're like
when I didn't notice you growing yeah
because you look at the child every day
look at the child once every half year
you'll see this the jumping
same thing with your spiritual growth
so you can't like say now okay this
month I'm gonna really focus on myself
you're not going to see a difference
between what now and a month ago you
look back 20 years and you're saying
okay 20 years ago everything would get
me upset now I know how to control my
anger 20 years ago I would gossip about
everything now I I want to hear
30 years ago I was judgmental I was
jealous I was whatever
now then you can see a difference
so I find one of the greatest
achievements of a human being in this
world is that you're able to refine
yourself
like an uncut diamond if you're looking
at a diamond that comes out of a mind
it's like a black rock
doesn't look like a diamond
you know how much water process it has
to go through to be refined is to be
polished and cut and cleaned and
it's a long process
so you are an unrefined Diamond that
came to the world and Hashem told you
refine yourself I'm gonna place in you
a few characteristics that are horrible
you'll be very jealous
and because you are very jealous I'm
going to put you in a very upscale
neighborhood that everybody has money
and you're not going to make money
deal with it
and all day long you're dealing with
jealousy because you don't have money
and everybody else has and this is one
example of any or I'm going to put a
little anger in you or I'm going to make
you impatient then you're going to marry
a woman that's going to drive you nuts
now there's nothing wrong with a woman
is there something wrong with you that
you are impatience
are you intolerant and so forth and with
that that's how Hashem designs you he
says I need you to refine this media
this diamond
anger jealousy whatever it is
so a lot of people what they say you
can't change me that's who I am I'm
going to work on myself in other ways
but that's the wrong approach
when I became observant I made a click
and a quick analysis
I was hot tempered I was uh whatever you
don't need to now share with you my
dirty laundry but I I knew exactly where
are my weaknesses
which up until then I was like it's
totally normal what's the big problem
that I'm uh taught tempered and I get
angry like that there's nothing wrong
with me
but I took all the things that I
realized very quickly that are not a
good character trait and say okay that
needs to be refined one of the things is
my speech was very disgusting
every second word was some derogatory
comments
and you know how people speak that the a
word the b word the c word the every
word that comes out and that's how I
would speak
now whether it's coming from the society
from my upbringing from it doesn't
matter it doesn't matter where it came
from what matters is that I would speak
disgusting and I would refer to people
in words like stupid you idiot you this
like you don't have to say that
sometimes I hear my kids even they tell
to each other
you don't have to add that word
you can say what's on your mind without
adding stupid uh without adding idiot
so some people say what's the big deal
it's just uh no it's a big deal because
you're hurting the other person and you
are also damaging the device the tool
that you have to praise Hashem with yeah
you said a not nice word maybe for you
idiot is it's normal it's not a nice
word I'm not talking about other words
now of course the Torah will tell you
the most important thing is to learn to
random it's not well the Torah in the
mitzvot is what's going to assist you to
become a much better person
but if you're looking back now 10 years
15 years 20 30 50 years and you don't
see a difference then that should raise
a big red flag and you have to really
take to consideration I'm not doing what
I'm supposed to do I'm standing in the
same place
and as a human being you do not want to
find yourself standing in the same place
doesn't matter if it's in your spiritual
growth in your Torah observance in your
relationships in your financial growth
if you're standing in the same place
you know the famous cliche life is right
like riding a bike if it's hard means if
you if if it hurts it means you're going
up if it's easy it means you're going
down right you heard that 5022 times
but there's also a riddush in addition
to that that if you stand in the same
place
you fall
try to stand on the same place with a
bike it only has two wheels you fall
so we are created to constantly ascend
with that said comes a powerful book
that I read many times there's a few
other books that we're learning
alongside like tomorrow
I like the books that I give you tools
how to refine yourself just to say you
have to be a better person that's
worthless
to tell a person you know you need to
really work on yourself okay thank you
now what how
so my father took me through a
conversation and he told me a very
powerful lesson that up until today I I
like holding by
and at the time there was a commercial
in the TV and they had this slogan and
it were it was in Hebrew malasot what
should I do
to do
of course in English doesn't sound so it
doesn't ring so nice but in every room
Allah
and I took that as a very powerful
lesson what should I do do
you have to do something you sit like
this nothing's going to happen
and my father taught me gave me a lot of
tools he told me you you want to make
money you're gonna have to work
you're not gonna get it like that
you want to be successful you're gonna
have to work real hard
you're looking at all the success
stories
after 10 years of hard work
sometimes you look at a rich person you
think I wish I would be rich yeah he
worked for 20 years hard
you're looking at a very successful
athlete oh I want to be successful like
that yeah he's practicing for 30 years
a musician same thing sometimes you see
the product
not too long ago we saw somebody playing
the violin
unbelievable unbelievable
my daughter took the violin
why am I not playing like that because
that person practiced for 30 years if
you practice for 30 years you'll play
the violin just as good
so everything in life that you need to
acquire comes with a lot of hard work
and you have to start somewhere
so if I want to refine myself it's going
to gonna change because of the weather
you need a plan you need how to do the
how to refine myself
therefore
the book is not only that it gives you
great information
it gives you practical
advice what to do
now if you're looking in general at the
last 28 classes or the entire chapter
then you can conclude it in one thing
that what's most important to for me to
work on my refinement is to actually do
with what
that's what would be the conclusion to
the unnaked eye
yeah I'm reading the book it just tells
me to do its words and that's the the
difficulty and at the same time the
challenge of many that they're saying I
don't want to do a limit
you want to do all them it's what
if you can or not
every Etc I have desires I have lusts I
have distractions I can't do all the
Meets World
it's very hard to be very Torah
observant
you know when I became observant I
looked at the the at the at the menu and
I'm like
I'm never gonna do all that who are you
kidding
can you really observe all them it's
about every day
come on
this is not easy at all first I'll go
memorize all the Meets World and do them
I want some vacation but there's no
vacations in the Torah can take a week
off every day
and I became observant I mean I didn't
even become observant I just knew that I
have to become and I had a friend who
was mentoring me
and I told him okay how do I become
Jewish so the first thing he told me you
have to pray
I said no sorry first time he told me
he's about after you eat kosher the next
thing you don't you have to pray again
why don't we praying
and then he gave me the devastating news
every day every day
no breaks
and then he gave me even another atomic
bomb three times a day three
again we can put them all together
or maybe I do two for the price of three
like
eight times a day I need to apply myself
and to pray three times reading from the
same text every day
so if you some are trying to summarize
the first chapter is kind of telling you
in other words that you have to do a
limited words
it's not going to work without that
so
I want to change that analysis go very
briefly quickly through the six Gates so
we can come kind of come to some
conclusion because listen I want you to
apply what we learn if you don't apply
it then bemidt it's a waste of time
and
I can already tell you you cannot apply
everything
I read the first time the book I think
maybe 15 years ago you you apply every
time one or two things
and then you master that and then you do
another one too and you master that and
you do another one or two and the
approach that I took with everything
when I became observant I wanted to have
a certain goal some people want to learn
the entire tablet some people want to go
through the entire zoa whatever
I wanted to know all the the limb of my
heart and so I was like that's one thing
I want to I want to know all the tilling
of my heart what's the big deal to
memorize it
so what did I do I started with chapter
number one
so I would read it over and over and
over it didn't work
so what did I do I would take a short
like little paper and I would write one
verse
on each note and as I was when I would
walk in the street that was the time
that I would memorize the the chapters I
would say the verse over and over and
then pull that just that note to see
that I'm saying it the right way and
and my goal was to do in the beginning
at least one chapter a week so it took
me one week to memorize the lines
right and I would mess up in the
beginning then go to my notes
but the result was that at the end of
the week I knew one chapter of my heart
because I said it I don't know hundreds
of times and memorized it
you know the old Torah in Hebrew is
called mishnah
and the reason why it's called mishna is
because you mention in you repeat and
repeat and repeat
that's the word mishnah by the way
not to teach mishna means listening to
repeat listen means that you repeat over
and over and over and over if you're
going to Yeshiva to little kids that's
what they do they're chanting everything
off by heart
but the result was at the end of the
week would come I knew a chapter of my
heart
and then the next week will come another
chapter
so a few weeks passed I know already
three four five six chapters of my heart
saying it off my heart and then just
when you once you know of my heart you
just have to maintain it to say it once
a day twice a day hey twice a week
so at some point and I'm telling you
that was my goal so I never achieved the
goal by the way
but I know a few good chapters of my
heart I don't know how many 30 40 50 I
don't know it doesn't matter but
the idea was two things the consistency
of repeating something over and over
and the next thing was that it wasn't
and I knew it cannot be acquired in one
chance
I limited to one chapter a week
now where did I have challenges up until
chapter 18 they're very short chapters
chapter 18 came threw me off it's a very
long chapter
but nevertheless so you know what I did
I skipped 18. and then I went to I said
let me first memorize the short ones
this is about 50 short ones I'll do the
short ones
the point is that you cannot conquer the
world in one shot you cannot learn the
whole thing in one go and same thing
with the book
but really when you want to Summarize
chapter number one and the author is
telling you that we have to focus on the
mitzvot
and I know many will come and question
I'm a man some of them it's about are
for women I'm a woman some of them it's
photo for men uh some of them it's water
only for priests some of them is for uh
when we have betamidash will come and
say I don't see myself in there where
are my mitzvot well launchers also have
their mitzvot everybody has Meets World
it's not only the seven laws of Noah the
seven titles there are many mitzvoted
non-jews have to do
but nevertheless the focus is on the
mitzvot so chapter one number one comes
and says to us something very simple
if you focusing yourself as a a
some type of an entity what are you
looking at at your body
or at your soul
then if I would look at myself I look at
myself as a body I don't see my soul
so I relate myself to myself as a body
so he comes and tells you you're right
the body is what makes the man
but it's just a garment the body is just
a garment to the soul
and the Garment has a purpose in the
winter my coat is protecting me from the
cold and in the summer my garments are
protecting me to be modest and if it's
raining then my coat will protect me
from the water
so our government just serves me
so I have to remember at all times that
my true entity is my soul
that is what needs to be nourished and
fed and been taken care of and the
Garment the body also has to be taken
care of but just remember that that's
just a garment
now I don't know anybody will come and
say you know what
I think this week we can go without
sleeping without food
well we don't need it
Nobody Does that because after a day or
two you'll fall asleep whether you want
it or not
nobody puts themselves on a fast 20 hour
fast for no reason or a three-day fast
you by default you're taking care of
yourself doesn't matter who you are
you'll you eat you drink you sleep you
bathe
some people go the extra mile they make
sure that they eat healthy they want
their body to be healthy they sleep
around the right amount of hours and so
forth
so the same way that you maintain your
body you have to maintain your National
your soul
now comes the fact that when the Torah
tells you that you have to fulfill the
mitzvot that's because the mitzvot is
the food to yourself if you don't do the
mitzvot the Commandments then you are
depriving yourself from food and when
your soul is hungry or tired then you're
gonna feel it
you're not going to feel it as hunger or
tiredness you're going to feel it with
sadness you're going to feel it this
depression you'll feel it as an anxiety
you'll feel it in many different ways
most people they have some type of maybe
an emotional psychological things that
they're battling depression sadness
anxiety fear and so forth it's not
coming from external things
sometimes maybe yes a lot of it is
coming from the soul the soul is hungry
it doesn't get enough nutrition
so for one person it will come out as
depression another person will come out
as anxiety
another person will come out as a you
know just
a type of behavior that they can't sleep
they can't
digest food or whatever it can come out
of sickness but a lot of the problems
that people go through has nothing to do
with what's what the world offers it has
to do with the soul not being nourished
so he comes the number and chapter
number one and he says first lets us
understand a few major things a the body
is a vehicle your main entity is
yourself
the same way that the vehicles the
vehicle needs maintenance the soul needs
maintenance
the body needs food and and they drink
and sleep then the Soul needs some type
of maintenance
then he goes into length and saying just
that you know that the body is a mixture
as a result of the sin of the tree of
knowledge and the sin of tree of
knowledge is called the the mixture of
good and bad that's why it's called the
tree of knowledge good and bad
then he comes and explains how the
result of the tree of knowledge that
good got mixed with bad
affected our entire existence and also
our body is mixed with that good and bad
the bear is the impurity of The Serpent
and the body is mixed partial good
partial bad
and
the bad will manifest into the body's
diseases
and unfortunately many people struggle
with many different types of diseases
and sometimes they don't even know where
it's coming from
but that's from the rottening evil side
impure side of the body
and the good part of the body
uh
is going to be feeding and nourishing
the spiritual part which is the soul
so when you're taking the connection
between the good and the bad
unfortunately that's part of the
creation right now when Michelle is
going to come of course it's going to
change the body is going to be just good
but since we are mixed with bad the bad
that's in our body is what allows us to
become sick
and the good in our in our body is what
allows the Mitzvah that we do to nourish
the nashama
that's very general everything that I'm
saying here is very very general what
we're talking about
and of course he adds another important
thing in chapter number one that when I
do a mitzvah
I have to understand that there are 613
meets vote in the Torah corresponding to
630 Limbs and organs in my body
and when I do a CERN Mitzvah then what I
do is I pull a Godly light a hyut a life
force into the limo to the organ in the
body
saying in other words that when I want
to enliven the body and nourish my soul
then I it has to be done through a
mitsuba and when I do them don't look at
it as I can as a commandment or as a
burden rather look at it as a spiritual
vitamin or spiritual mineral A protein
that goes to a directly to a certain
organ
saying in other words that the body is
built from 613 parts and the mitzvotes
are really the connection of
strengthening and enlivening all the
body parts
therefore when I damage them it's not I
do two reasons there's two results a I'm
damaging the limb and the organ in the
body B I'm not nourishing that part of
the Soul
so he titled the first chapter as the
program
the damage that I Do by sins
now imagine how you work all your life
and you save to buy a beautiful car
and once you buy the car you know you
wash it all the time you park it in a
garage you don't want it it's not
nobody's scratching it you take care of
the car then I can be with your car that
can be with whatever some electronic
device when I was a little kid I saved
that money I bought a bike and I moved
my bike I wouldn't leave it outside we
wouldn't put it here wouldn't put it
there
that's a natural normal thing you worked
hard you maintain the object that you
purchased or worked hard for
so here
the conclusion is coming and saying
listen you have a body which is your
vehicle to take you through this world
and you have your nashama which is your
essence do you want to damage it why
would you want to damage it if I have a
vehicle now and that's my business
that's how I make money would you on
purpose go and damage it it doesn't even
make sense
on the contrary you will do anything you
can to maintain it
so basically saying in other words you
have to understand that your body is the
vehicle to take you through this world
and you're in a Sharma your soul is your
Eternal being you have to maintain it
and take care of it and when Shalom you
do something bad which we call a sin
then you're going to do a damage
anything that you buy in this world will
come with a owner's manual right your
car your refrigerator your TV your
computer and it says very simple I never
read the manual I don't think anybody
reads the manual it's like an
encyclopedia you know what you read that
booklet that just gives you the basics
now when you buy a new phone it will
tell you don't put the phone in the
water
don't put your phone I don't know expose
it to the sun don't put it tells you
what not to do and what to do now you
just pay thousands of shekels of dollars
you wouldn't do that
so the dog comes and tells you by the
way all the do's and don'ts that the
Torah comes and specifies that's the
owner's manual
don't lie not because it's not nice
because it will damage one of your
organs don't gossip not because it's not
nice because it's going to damage one of
your organs
or limbs don't steal don't commit
adultery yeah morally it's not the right
thing to do but that's not why I'm
restricting you on why I'm
advising you one can come and say the
mitzvot yeah their title is Commandments
because if it would be titled as advice
nobody would do it I don't need advice
I'll work it out myself
so Hashem says okay I have to title this
Commandments that you have to do it
but really it's advice it's the best
advice you can get can you imagine
greeting the Torah the best book of
advice follow the Torah you'll be very
successful
so the Torah comes and tells you if you
do a certain sin
it will damage your body and your soul
so why would you want to do that
so chapter one goes in length to explain
the relations between the body and the
soul and how the sins from the Torah
will affect the body and the Soul at the
same time
so when you internalize that you're
saying why would I want to work to to
lie or cheat or slander or do any other
of the sins
I'm the one who's going to suffer from
that forget about now what I'm about
forget about
forget about all these terms in this
world
I don't know anybody who's going on a
road trip and then before he starts the
road trip says let me puncture the tires
why I don't know but you're going on a
road trip you need the tires
so chapter number one is focusing on the
relations between the body and the soul
and the fact that when you don't follow
the Torah and the Commandments you're
going to damage both
now we go into chapter number two
sorry gate number two we're still we're
only chapter one gate number two comes
and tells you by the way after you
understood that deuteronomics vote is
your lifeline it's it's your everything
your spiritual and physical fuel it's
your guide just that you know that the
mitzvot as important as they are there's
another factor that you have to take to
consideration
and that's called midot your
characteristics which are not less
important than the mitzvah
and according to many are more important
now there's just for the sake of the
example one of the characteristics is to
be humble is there Mitzvah a specific
Mitzvah the Dua tells you have to be
humble there's no Mitzvah to tell the
tales you have to be humble
and on the contrary the opposition the
polarity of being humble is being
arrogant gather Pride honor
there's not such a mix with the Delta
tells you you should the the how they
shall not be proud
this is a a Prohibition
there's not a sin to be arrogant
so one might say hey I didn't find it in
the door how can be arrogant I can be a
pot as much as I want
so chapter number two comes and says by
the way
there's one level of uh observance that
is more important than the mitzvot
they're not considered as a sin or as a
Mitzvah but just as you know they have
just the same effect and worse on your
body on yourself and they're called
middle your characteristics you're
always going to have good
characteristics and you're always going
to have bad characteristics that's how
Hashem planned you as we mentioned in
the class before Hashem created you with
a deficiency with a lack with some type
of damage
so he gave you a good a lot of good
character traits you're polite you're
courteous you charitable you're giving
you patient
that's a lot of good character traits
but also Hashem gave you a few character
traits that are very not nice
they're angry quick to judge full of
arrogance hate jealousy and the list
goes uh very very long
so chapter number two comes and tells
you
based on chapter number one and again
I'm going if I'm really zooming through
the chapters we can't summarize 28
classes in in half an hour
chapter number one since it's talking
about the connection and the relation of
the body and the Soul it dedicates a
part to explain how the body is
constructed
and it's explained that the body is
built and created from four elements
earth water fire and air and we went
into length explaining about the
elements and explaining other things
that connected to that
but chapter number two comes and says by
the way the same way that the body is
built
or created from four elements then the
midot who are above the body also are
created from four we'll call it now not
elements but rather four categories
so if the body is Created from Earth
Fire Water and Air then and the the soul
also is Created from these four elements
but nevertheless the midot who are the
thought to say the engine of myself
they're also divided into four
categories both the good and the bad
which means that I have four
midod characteristics we all have them
that are bad
and four characteristics that are good I
need and then for each person it's
different one person will have more of
this one one person will have more of
that one
in a different class I once explained
with the elements that we all sharing
the same four elements but every person
has always one element that is more
dominating one element that is the least
dominating and two elements that are
usually equal
so it could be that within me physically
spiritually and emotionally the element
of fire is dominating the element of air
is the least and the earth and water is
more or less the same
so the same thing with them without we
all have share the same without but one
person will have more arrogance another
person will have more
rudeness and so forth
so he comes and gives us a very quick
analysis
that there are four good middle
characteristics and four bad
characteristics the bad ones have to be
overpowered and completely subdue and
the good ones need to be nourished
one of the good ones
the four good ones are being humble is
that I have humility and I'm humble the
second one is silence that I know when
to
zip my mouth
the third one is that I despise physical
Pleasures I don't want to have physical
pleasures
I actually despise them
and the fourth one is happiness
for good middle that I need to
constantly nourish
I need to nourish my Meda my attribute
of being humble constantly nourishing
how to know when to be silenced
to despise physical pleasures
if because if I despise them I don't run
after them and of course to be in a
state of joy and happiness these are the
four main good methods and from that
they'll start manifesting into many
others
therefore bad middle
the first one is arrogance Gava to be
proud
that's the problem that everybody has
the second one is anger
we all have that
the third is called
Idol Chit Chat
it's the opposite of being silenced then
I just talk I'm not talking right now
about slandering gossiping lying just
idle chitchat just talking and talking
with no purpose
and the fourth is called
the last and the desire for physical
pleasure
and for one person the physical pleasure
will be sexual intercourse another
person the physical pleasure will be
food another person the physical
pleasure will be I don't know taking
drugs or alcohol or gambling or whatever
it is
but we all have some type of lust for
some physical pleasure each one in a
different level each one for a different
category but we all have that I don't
know many people who said I don't want
to pleasure anything not food not
sleeping not sexual intercourse I don't
want to pleasure anything
so chapter number two comes and tells
you yeah the mitzvot are extremely
important to the nourishment of your
soul and your body but don't forget that
there's one thing above that and that's
your middle and if you don't nourish
that
then your essence and the root to
everything is suffering for deficiency
it will affect everything
many saying in other words that I have
to have two things in the front of my
mind
the toranda means what because I needed
for my spiritual sustenance
and on the same time I can't neglect my
middle
how many people have you met in your
lifetime that are can be called Taurus
Scholars
but they're rude
arrogant
vulgar and many other things
you don't have to raise your hands so
we're not going to embarrass anyone I
met many
so what is your Torah worth
is your Torah worth anything
is worthless
if you learn eight hours a day
throughout 12 hours a day you know the
talmouth
but you're arrogant Are you rude
I'm sorry to tell you your Torah is
worthless so you worked a lot on your
Torah
but yummy dots this is no refinement
there and unfortunately I know many like
that
so what did you do
then you lost both because you didn't
refine your middle your characteristics
and your Torah is worthless you think
your Torah is going to be accepted in
shamaim if you're full of arrogance
so
here we're settling two important
paths that you have to focus on your
Torah observance
and that cannot be acquired overnight
some people takes them 50 years to get
to a point that their tour observance
now of course a lot of people say yeah
of course I'm Thor observant somebody
asks you you observes Shabbat
of course I observe Shabbat
well if we're going to go down with to
the nitty-gritty and we're going to go
with the magnifying glass neither one of
us observes Shabbat by the way not to
blow the air out of your sails
I told you already I was observing
Shabbat for years
by not driving not using the phone not
turning the TV on or electric devices
and many other things but after many
years that I got to the section in all
law about Shabbat
I figured out I'm not observing Shabbat
not even a bit
I'm failing in everything
what is not allowed to be carried in
cooking be sure in almost everything
sifting
now one might say ah no come on that's
like for the extremists that's the
fanatic there's nothing to do with a
fanatic
it has to do with the Torah tells you
and if the Torah tells you know what to
cook on Shabbat
it's not I know you're not making now uh
uh pot roast but making tea on Shabbat
in a certain way you're cooking if
you're not doing it the right way you're
cooking
I'm trying to tell people now you're not
observing Shabbat wrap your bags and go
home
coming and telling you it can take you
decades before you really reach your
high level of Shabbat observance and
don't let that discourage you because
Hashem says I'm happy with what you're
doing now
but don't stop learn laws of Shabbat
that every Shabbat you add another thing
that if you're looking at a 30-year
lifetime oh I actually I really mastered
my Shabbat
and it's the same thing but a lot of
people say I never say lashonara I don't
gossip I don't slander
yeah but you don't know all the laws of
roshona and sometimes what you think
that is not the genre is
you thinking you're doing good and
you're actually doing bad
how many times have we learned the laws
of
so many variations when is it when is
the child molester in town and I'm
mourning people
people like flagging that you say
something you're talking
you know something about you learn the
the laws you know when it's not shown
around when it's not
cannot be compared to shabbat because
Shabbat is like tons of laws but it's
with everything
people pray for years and they don't
learn the laws of praying and they fail
in many things they do things the wrong
way the wrong order
so what I'm saying now is not to
discourage you it's just to make you
understand that these things can take
years when I became observant at some
point for two years I was like kind of
like as they say dipping my legs in
water but after two years I kind of got
to the program went to Yeshiva and
within half a year from being almost
secular I was like almost fully
observant so to my perspective that's it
Amazon observant
and in my mind I thought that's it I'm
totally observant it took me another
five years to realize oh that's when I
started becoming observant and the next
five years is to learn how to really
become much more observant in my Shabbat
observance kashoot also with kashoot a
lot of people say of course say it
kosher
most people think they eat kosher they
don't eat kosher
whether it's how the meat is being
slaughtered whether it's how the fruit
is being separated here in the land of
Israel whether it's the utensils that
you mix meat and dairy and 100 million
other reasons a lot of people think they
eat kosher I'm sorry to tell you're not
relating kosher
thank you enclosure but you're not
and again this is all not to discourage
you it's to make you understand that you
need to learn and proceed and grow
with that said
so we have chapter number one that is
explaining to you the importance of them
it's not chapter number two is covering
the importance of the refinement of my
characteristics of my middle
and then chapter number three comes and
tells you by the way once you're able to
master that then you have two titles
that you can win
one of them is called the Sadiq a
righteous individual and another one is
called the khasid
so
chapter number three is concentrating by
saying if you follow chapter number one
and two and you really work on your
Torah observance and you refine your
character traits then you might reach to
the level of at Sadiq
and there's many different levels in at
Sadiq but you might reach a level of a
Sadiq but if you want to go the extra
mile since you're already investing so
much time then you might want to go to
the next level which is called
and it goes into a lengthy explanation
what is the hasid that the the general
summary
a person that does kindness and charity
with his master
saying in other words that I understand
that because we are in Exile and because
that I sin
the shrina the man the feminine aspect
of the Divine is in Exile too
and I suffer the suffering of the shrina
and everything that I do is not for
myself I'm not doing it to gain reward
I'm not going doing it to have knowledge
everything that I'm doing is to reduce
the suffering of Hashem being in Exile
and that's a very broad definition
very hard to achieve because usually I'm
very selfish and I do everything for my
own self growth and myself a pleasure
but the level of hasid is that I there's
no me everything is done
for Hashem not to suffer in Exile
and how is that done of course only
through Toronto and only through
refining my character traits if I do not
acquire me Dr vote good midod it's not
gonna work
which means that any chapter one and
number two to really build myself to
start going into level number other
tadiq or uh now again I'm not
necessarily telling you that you have to
be on the market for one of them one of
the levels I actually don't like titles
we serve Hashem for the sake of serving
Hashem
but nevertheless then it goes into
chapter number four number five that in
chapter number four it explains to you
very thoroughly how to gain the level of
attack
by breaking it down into five categories
and they're all about doing with votes
like I told you Sadiq it's focusing on
them it's what and it breaks it into
five categories by basically telling us
which meets what we have to do
which later on of course brings us to
another big question a lot of them I
can't do how will I do that
so the five categories that it's
explaining is that first of all the the
mitzvot that I have to do is all the
meats want around the time of praying
because the thought of it's what when I
pray in the morning especially a man you
know when it's what I do
feeling and tallied and stuck on reading
and learning and Shema
so all the Mitzvah that I have to do in
the morning prayers in all the prayers
sorry another morning prayers all the
prayers then category number two is the
Mitzvah that are dependent on time
that are a cause because of time and
that's for example Shabbat
Shabbat Shabbat you don't celebrate
Shabbat on a Monday you can only do it
on Shabbat and you can only do pesach on
Sukkot
so the mitzvahn that are defined by a
certain time
category number three is the mitzvot
that uh
can only come to me in certain
circumstances
for example if I only have girls I can't
do the mystery of circumcision to my son
and the Mitzvah is for the father not
for the child the child can't circumcise
himself the midst of Brit Mila falls on
the father so if I don't have a boy I
can't do the mitzvah
right if I don't have a house I can't do
the Mitzvah but doing a a fence uh
railing around the the roof so these are
mitzvoted only if I have the opportunity
I can do
category number four five sorry four is
Mitzvah that I have to pursue to look
for them to do it they're not going to
come to me I have to have to initiate a
situation to go and do the Mitzvah and
then I want to start going through them
it's not because we dedicated a few
classes for that
category number five is the mitzvot that
only if Hashem wants to he will get give
me the opportunity to do doesn't matter
what I'm gonna do I can turn the world
upside down I'm not going to be able to
do the Mitzvah unless Hashem decides to
have the Merit and he will give me the
opportunity and I will be able to
perform the Mitzvah which means that I
have to be alert and I have to jump on
the opportunity the second it happens
I want to do the mix of returning a lost
object
I can't tell you can you lose your
wallet there
and I'll come after and I can't do such
a thing
I have to walk in the street and huh I
lost object
which means Hashem has to arrange that
to happen and like that many others
which means that basically like I told
you you have to be alert you have to be
waiting for the opportunity how many
times the opportunity comes and you
don't do that there's a Mitzvah to
escort a person on their last path when
it goes to burial
how many times somebody that I don't
feel like driving now it's three hours
it's far away I don't feel like going to
the funeral
I'll come to the Shiva okay so you
missed the mitzvah
don't complain later on that they tell
you you could have done the Mitzvah why
did you do that I was tired
I was uh my favorite show online I
didn't want to miss the the broadcast
so
gate number four is kind of going
through all the mitzvotes and we went
through them all
to in one way tell me first of all that
the mitzvot that I need to do but also
to put me in some type of a state of
confusion that wait a minute half of
them I can do
and of course we gave we dedicated the
whole class how you can do them it's
what that you cannot do
that you can refer to the summary of
gate number four and a long class how
you perform them it's all that
technically you can do you're a woman
you can put your meter for a man vice
versa you know the priest we don't have
betamidash and so forth
but the the conclusion is if I want to
reach your level of Sadiq then it gives
me specifies exactly what I need to do
so if I come to shamaim and they tell me
I'm sorry you know what Sadiq I can't
argue so here he's the mitsubility we
were supposed to do you didn't do them
all
now a gate number five is coming and
telling you let me explain to you what
you need to do to reach the level of
hasid
gate number five border the mits vote to
be at Sadiq you want to be a khasid so
you have to focus on three things
the first one is acquiring middle to
vote
then you have to pursue good
characteristics
and it's not so easy because when I want
to be charitable the test is going to
come when I'm the most not feeling to
being charitable and if I if I want to
be hospitable then the challenge is
going to come when the least convenient
for me to take a family with six kids
into my house for three weeks
and many other things if I want to be
courteous and loving and caring and and
so forth then it's not going to come so
easy you need to acquire them I don't
want to be arrogant I want to be humble
then when I want to be humble all the
challenges are going to be that my ego
is going to not going to let me be a
humble
and why and you got the points this is
called acquiring middle to vote and that
can take you 60 years 70 years 40 years
your whole life
because sometimes you need to lose your
temper 100 times to know when not to
lose your temper and sometimes you need
to open your mouth and say the wrong
thing for a hundred times to know when
to zip your mouth and to say okay I was
able to to do that
some say that acquiring man good Mida
one good characteristics is harder than
going through the entire world around
learning it thoroughly
but you want to have on your resume to
come up to show them and say yes I was
very quick to judge and I worked on
myself I'm able to hold myself and
overpower my desire and my urge to be
rude or to be vulgar to be
judgmental
so that's not so simple to acquire
Middleton like I told you a lifetime
the second thing is called sumera saying
in other words I have to remove myself
from all evil also not so simple
because in many situations like we
explained in previous class the
challenge is in front of me I can't hold
the challenge I will fail right away
when a child of a a challenge of lust or
desire or honor comes
and the third one is doing good a set of
and again same thing I want to do good I
want to do all the mitzvot but many
times will be a challenge a test and an
obstacle and I will fail
for many reasons
so when I want to reach to the level of
Christine you have to follow these three
categories
and then comes gate number six that
summarizes all the six gate the five
gates
and gives you a very clear order how
your day need to look like
so one might say learn all five gates
then go to gate number six and read the
daily routine that you need to follow
and it tells you you want to master
Gates one to five then it's only by
having a daily routine and the daily
routine that he gives us in chapter
number six is a very busy long hard day
the day starts the night before
now
if you just focused on gate number six
it looks like a mountain that cannot be
climbed it looks like a goal that will
never be achieved I will never be able
to do that
then I have a challenge that I put
myself you can use it if you want
I want to do once a month that day
now you don't start with once a month
everything
then you do once a month that I do one
segment
for example he starts by saying that how
you prepare yourself to bed you have to
say the Bedtime Shema
on the surface well it's a big deal it's
a text I just reading the text no 10
minutes no
no you have to do confession for your
sins you have to introspect about
everything that you did that day you
have to correct what you did we went
through it
but be honest with yourself you don't
have to tell me
have you said
for the last month every night
no may you not in color
a lot of people say yeah one time yes
one time not once I was very good at it
then I had a
so you know not to put you on the spot
you said you said yes as you said it
every time every night the last 10 years
again
putting anybody on the spot I look I
direct these questions to myself so if I
ask myself have you said every night the
last month
have you said
every night in the last five years
no I didn't I forgot a few times I fell
asleep a few times
Who convinced me not to say so I turn
all these questions to myself
so I'm gonna just give you one example
on a minute because in chapter number
six we went through it every part of
your daily routine
so sometimes I like to put myself into a
challenge and says let's take
gate number six and do the daily routine
one time a month
that they have to be like on steroids
now I can tell you already it can be
done
one time a month you really focused
but after you did it once a month you're
saying wow how can this be done every
day every day of my life to live my life
like that and I don't want to repeat
repeat gate number six we dedicated a
class to each segment
the first one was how you prepare
yourself to go to sleep
one class dedicated from that is it's
not just reading text segment number two
is waking up at midnight and it's not 12
a.m midnight according to the to the
Torah calculation and reading
a certain prayer and staying up for the
rest of the night
how often do you do that okay you can do
that once a month twice a month once a
year once a week I know people do the
courses every night
early in the morning then after read you
have to learn after that you have to eat
after you eat you have to work excuse me
no sleeping is before you go to sleep at
10 o'clock at night nine o'clock at
night six o'clock don't forget then in
the olden days now it's dark what is it
now quarter to five it's almost dark
now we have electricity in the olden
days he used to go to sleep at six seven
forget about olden days I know people
who go to sleep at seven eight at night
yeah and they wake up at one in the
morning and they say they're going to
Hassan I mean listen it's a lifestyle
I'm not saying that it's applicable to
everybody
but nevertheless the daily routine was
pretty and then of course in the daily
routine go and work now it's just just
working you have to work and be honest
with dignity and integrity not to steal
not to cheat
and so forth and then they're praying
praying are weird oh it gives you a
whole daily routine
now
the challenges trying to do the whole
daily routine once a month
you can do it I believe anybody can do
it
the point is to take on yourself
slowly slowly
things that are in the daily routine
that you get it under your wings so to
say like we said I think that's one of
the easy ones to wake up at midnight
which can take you half an hour itself
if you're doing the whole thing then to
sample night listen not so simple to do
it every night but to try to do it once
a week try to do it once a month
same thing with same thing with the rest
of the things but you can definitely
that's my Approach when I became
observant let me first Master the simple
things
and when I start mastering the simple
thing it's exactly the analogy that I
gave you with me learning the killing of
my heart let me start with one verse
I'll Master One verse I'll go to the
next but once I got the first verse
forbaden I got it under my tongue that's
it it's not going to be forgotten
unless I'm not gonna say it for a few
months yeah we'll forget it but once I
got the first verse
memorize that's it it's memorized
now I just need to maintain
same thing here you want to take the
summary of gate six that's when you
actually doing it practical
that you're saying okay what can I do I
can't do everything if you go to a
chapter to gate number four when it
tells you all them it's what you need to
do I went through them it's what I said
okay I can probably do 20 percent
for sure
so focus on the 20 percent
and when the 20 becomes like part of
your life then we'll negotiate the 21st
percent don't shoot for the 100 you're
not gonna make it you can't make it
unless you are a Super Jew you're not
going to be able to make it and my
Approach is the faster
you try to grab too much at once you're
not going to grab nothing better to grab
small and grow with it and by that you
are very secure you're securing your
growth it becomes part of your day
the same way that in the beginning it
was extremely hard for me to remember
what prayer do I say when I put
something in my mouth is it charcoal is
it like to say all the description I
didn't remember the blessing
now it's like uh autopilot
which of course you want to don't want
to fall to the danger of it when it
becomes autopilot then you're saying it
without the right meaning but that's not
what we focus on right now
the point to take is a chapter number
one is giving you a
synopsis an overview of everything that
you need to do
you need to be smart by saying this is
way too much for me to do right now I
can't do that I will hope that within
the next 40 years I can do that but I
need some type of a plan
when I became observant I knew I have to
observe Shabbat I knew it I just knew
that's it comes with a package in my
mind I was like no chance I'm observing
Shabbat I cannot do that
what can I do I can do a douche okay
start with kilosh so for a few months
just Kiddush next I'm asked to that what
next I'll leave the light on in the
bathroom that I can handle okay
but I had a plan how I proceeding what
can I do what I cannot do what is easy
for me to do I'll do that what is hard
for me to do I'll so to say
bring myself in
so the point to take is to take really
the the the daily routine in Gate six
and all the rest of them it's well that
is explained to us thoroughly in Gates
four and five and to make a plan okay
what what am I already doing what is
easy for me to do what can I achieve in
the next year what do I want to achieve
in the next five years
and to work diligently towards your plan
now you I can tell you already you'll
gain much more credit points if you're
able to do successfully a little bit
then nothing a lot
so when I looked at the chapter at the
gate number six in the daily routine I
said what can I do consistent this this
and this I can do consistent I rather
focus on three four things that I can do
consistent than to focus on 20 things
and do it one day yes Monday no one day
it is
and keeping in mind that within the
daily routine try to do once a month
once a week once every quarter of a year
that you're saying that today I'm doing
the whole daily routine because if you
do that then you have one Perfect Day in
your ear
okay it's a good time to do it in the
Lulu
it's certain days you're like okay and
this is where I'm gonna be like the the
best
but you definitely want to make yourself
steps you want to make yourself go this
is something that you have to do by
yourself I cannot tell you tell you what
to do you want to make some type of a
map if you don't have a destination and
you don't have the key points where you
want to reach saying in other words you
don't have a plan it's not going to work
unless you have some type of uh your own
individual system and you have how to
make your system work without a plan
without goals without any points of
importance
of course everybody has their methods I
can only share with you my methods in
the last 20 years how I was able to move
forward because I had a plan for
everything
because I understood the mountain is too
high I cannot climb it in one shot
somebody sent me this beautiful picture
that goes around in all the social media
and you see on the left side a ladder
with many many many steps
and on the right side the ladder that
only has like five levels and two people
are like looking like this is the ladder
and it says something along the line the
small steps help you go on the ladder
when there's no steps no level you can
how we grow to the next step
so I'm sure you saw this picture and if
not you understood the point that the
small steps is what allows you to grow
now it's all nice in theory what we're
saying now you cannot the whole time if
you don't put it in a plan it's not
gonna work I already tell you I tried
many times to read a book if you don't
put it in a plan
and the plan only you can do and there's
no there's no uh course of how to plan
my spiritual growth
maybe you can advise with somebody a
little bit more knowledgeable I'm just
able to give you the methods in the
system I can tell you already that these
types of books same thing with Thomas if
you don't put it into some type of a
plan it's going to be very hard to to
bring to success and if you don't do
that then not that I'm trying to
discourage you but why are you learning
the book If you're not planning on doing
anything
to waste your time in the class
left you're saying this is valuable
information how do I do that
so before we going into chapter number
two which it has a different approach
temperature number two number one you
have to at least Master the concept of
chapter number one is that the mitzvot
are vital and important and I have to I
cannot choose some of them as well a lot
of people say I'm spiritual I'm
connected to God I'm a good person it's
very nice of you but if you're not doing
them it's what it's worthless
you're not going to reach to the same
level
you're not going to be able to now it's
so popular everybody wants to learn
Kabbalah and Zohar and but many teachers
and organization teaches the theory
they fail to tell you if you don't
practice the toront all your Kabbalah
and the Tsar is worthless
both cabal and Zoe will tell you first
of the middle okay then they'll come
back how can you learn kabalan of the
mitzvotes now everybody thinks they're
cabalist because they learned a little
bit about this this is firot you don't
do them it's what
you'll never reach to a level that you
actually understand what you're learning
and to actually practically do it
so
the Toronto mitzvot are vital and a must
the the middle are more important more
important
so simultaneously you have to work on
your middle you can't just invest your
time in praying and doing its vote and
not working on your anger your
judgmental your feelings your jealousy
your whatever it is it has to be
simultaneously never even put more
effort
gate number three something that I don't
like I don't like categorizing things I
don't I don't care if I am alone I don't
care I don't need a title but it needs
to learn
gate number four and five yeah it tells
you clearly what you need to do when you
need to to understand because why is
that important because when you go into
gate number four it can I I told you I
went through gate number four and says
okay 20 I for sure can do let me focus
on the twenty percent
then I'll take what I can of course like
the ones who are are opportunity Mitzvah
that's a whole different thing but that
also needs to be engraved in the back of
your mind how many times an opportunity
for a Mitzvah comes your way and you
didn't do it
and you're like oh my gosh I missed the
Mitzvah I could have done this mitzvah
but you're uh I don't want to say what
you know whatever it can be arrogance
can be sadness can be prevented you from
doing a mitzvah
so you need to know and again that's the
road map I can do these mitzvot these I
can't that's a maybe
this I can do everything this I can do
once a week this will do once a month
don't worry Hashem knows what you can
handle
and then of course the daily routine
you want to strive I know a lot of
people that they read it I'll never be
able to do it thank you here's the book
here thank you so much I'm not gonna do
it
I met many people who looked no I can't
do it
but at least do 10 20 30 do once a week
once a month
the point you want to take from that is
that he's giving you an unbelievable set
plan and programmer to do
your choice is how you applying it and
like I told you if you want to work you
work with a plan and you slowly slowly
do whatever you can and again we're not
here shopping for college we're not
shopping to be called that
I want to do the good in the eyes of
Hashem and my achievement I will be able
to feel a hundred percent successful is
when I leave this world that I will be
able to show in shamaim in the heavens
that I was able to refine one media and
not even resign it completely just to
reduce it from 100 to 50 then I said
okay I think I was successful
if I look back like I told in the
beginning of the class when I became
observant and I knew I have an issue
with how I speak
with using foul language and so forth
and I look back 20 years and my language
was refined 80 percent
I was able to do something I was able to
be successful in one refinement of one
character
you can tap yourself on the back there's
nothing wrong with feeling that you
achieved something it's not about ego
it's not about Pride or arrogance I
achieved something
if I was quick to anger and now it will
take an elephant to get me angry okay
dude I did something
and again it's not about being arrogant
to a pot it's about being I achieved
something I worked hard I applied and it
worked
but you that's how I see it that's the
this whole book is for me how do I make
myself a better person
when I uh before I became observant I
left Israel I grew up in Israel age of
22 I left Israel I wasn't in Israel
I think like 12 or 13 years didn't come
back
the first time that I came back
unfortunately I had to come back because
my brother-in-law passed away I came
back for the funeral in the Shiva and I
slept over in my sister's home
I saw her in that was 12 13 years maybe
once or twice I don't remember could be
that I didn't even see her I think I
didn't even need to see her at all
and I slept in her home and we were very
close growing up
after two three days that I'm sleeping
in her home
she was like wow you you were never like
this you kept saying you were never like
this you were never like that and I told
her yeah that's that's the new version
that's the refined version that's the
version that worked a lot hard on myself
and you now seeing the results a
different person
and she told me she kept saying oh you
would never clean after yourself you
would never exist constantly giving
these comments and I told you you're
right that's the old me this is the new
me the new and refined version same
alone
same nonsense same sense of humor same
everything nothing changed by the way
that's the problem with most balachua
they think they need to change if you
change you're doing the biggest mistake
ever
if you're a musician prior to YouTube
stair musician if you're a dancer a
wrestler it doesn't matter I see battle
Troopers that they change themselves
they lose themselves they're unhappy
they're miserable
you have to stay Who You Are but I
refine you
and I was proud and uh happy to tell my
sister yeah that's the better version of
me that's the that's what you remember
he didn't see me for 15 years that's the
old way
lazy annoying judgmental angry
whatever rude that's a different me say
me
just a little bit different
so that's really what we want to achieve
here a better version of me that you'll
be able can you imagine you meeting
yourself when you were 20.
just imagine Hashem put some type of a
simulation
You're Now 50 60 40 he puts you in front
of you when you were 20.
imagine having a conversation with
yourself that you are 30 years before I
don't know if I would like myself 30
years ago
I probably would argue with myself
because I think when I was 30 years ago
I was a pot
and the Annoying arrogant idiot I I
would talk with myself how I was 30
years ago I wouldn't like myself
now that's a good sign that something
changed so it's the same me
and when I look at myself I'm the same
one
but when somebody looks at me it's a
whole different person
not because of the beard different
approach different Behavior different
manners
that's what we want to achieve you want
to look at yourself in 20 30 40 50 years
and saying it's me
much better me
refined
clean nice
no judgmental no jealous no anger much
better person
kind of like when you work in a cold
mine for two three weeks then you go
take a shower ah
so again
memorize as much as you can you have to
read it over and over see the classes
you want you want
to get it in your system there's a
reason why we chose certain books as
many amazing books out there that we can
learn from and eventually we'll get to
them too
but this is look how thin the book is
it's like a little book oh you can't
master this
to take you to the world to come as a
polished diamond
much more valuable than Netflix much
more valuable than Facebook much more
valuable than anything that our world
offers to you because it gives you the
opportunity to become a very refined
version of yourself
