Torah Minute by Rabbi Bakshi: The Power of a Mentor

This week’s Torah portion, Tazria–Metzora, raises a powerful question: why do we need a mentor—someone to guide us, teach us, and help us grow? The Torah describes how a person with a spiritual blemish could not declare themselves pure or impure on their own; only a Kohen could make that determination. This teaches us a timeless truth: “All blemishes a person can see—except their own.” We often lack the clarity to judge ourselves honestly. That’s why having a mentor is essential. Someone who can guide us with wisdom, help us grow spiritually, and keep us grounded.
