In Egypt, there was no machine matzah—if you want to truly connect to the experience of leaving slavery, you want something real, something authentic. Machine matzah may be convenient, but it doesn’t carry the same depth. Hand matzah is made with care, often by people who prepare themselves spiritually, bringing intention and meaning into the process. Many try to get matzah baked with purity and focus, adding a deeper level to the mitzvah. If possible, try to get hand matzah baked in Israel—it adds another layer of connection to the land and to the journey of redemption. This is something the Jewish people prepare for all year, coming together to create something meaningful for Pesach.
