There are lights that shine for [music]
a moment, and there are lights that
never fade. A light that is built,
carried, and passed on. Because of
Hashem's everlasting kindness, he
created great lights in the world. An
Ohr Gadol.
A light that shapes lives. A light that
builds people. A light that becomes part
of who we [music] are. Years ago, they
sat here as talmidim, learning, growing,
becoming.
And today, their sons sit in those same
seats.
The same walls, the same Torah, the same
light. But now it continues. Because
what is built here doesn't end when a
student leaves. It becomes how he lives,
how he gives, [music]
how he raises the next generation. And
how the light continues to grow. A light
like this exists because it is
sustained. Because those who are shaped
by [music] it choose to carry it
forward. Our Ohr is an Ohr Gadol, a
great light that lives through
generations, and continues because
chesed is everlasting.
If I were to use one word to describe
Yeshiva Ohr Elchonon Chabad in Los
Angeles, would be legendary. Of all the
students that have come through these
doors, all the rabbaim that have come
through these doors. This is a wonder.
It's a mofes. It's a ganifla. [music]
That something like this exists here. On
so many levels. Joyous, you know. It was
a very joyful experience. A chassidish
education, if it's done [music] right,
is a very joyous experience.
The Rebbe describes a talmid [music] as
somebody that puts aside his own
aspirations, and realizes I'm here to
serve the [music] Aibershter, and my
goal is to be able to fulfill that
purpose in the best way possible. And
that starts off with learning Torah.
This Yeshiva gave him a deep respect for
Torah, and for his kashrus, [music] and
for everything that chassidus stands
for. Yeshiva Ohr Elchonon Chabad
gave me the chiyus of what it means to
learn, the chiyus of what it means to
farbreng. I remember it being a very
warm, friendly place. The rabbaim really
cared and made sure that you excelled.
To see my son now enjoying the same
beautiful Yeshiva, achdus, you know,
friends, and learning of course, and
getting all the chassidic education,
same way that I was able to go through
it, and now he's enjoying that. It's a
beautiful feeling. Something that's
really unique about Ohr Elchonon is that
we have the rosh, which being a chossid
of the Rebbe, [music] is mind, being a
lamden. So, you have all three aspects
you really gain from one person. If the
father that learned here sends his son
here, that means that he feels that the
Yeshiva gave him something that he wants
to be continued. That was the gives us a
certain sense of accomplishment, and we
hope that with the next generation we'll
do even better. It's amazing knowing
that my father learned here as a bochur,
and that over time this Yeshiva
continues to thrive. The fact that this
Yeshiva is not only standing, but it has
grown leaps and bounds, which has shown
that that the Rebbe's alive
and with us, and present
in the most powerful ways that is only
demonstrated by walking right here in
the middle of all the different cliffa
that's taking place. [music] And here
you have a makom of Ohr and Torah.
